This Will Take  Some Getting Used To

Avengers 93

Picked this up from Comic Connect yesterday. The beginning of the alien war saga courtesy of Roy Thomas and Neal Adams. The most valuable Marvel book featuring Neal's artwork. Would have preferred a higher grade, but one buys what one can afford. Eight more Adams books to go. Enjoy.

Horror From Neal

Just won this in the Comic Link auction. A very nice cover by Adams with interior work by him and Berni Wrightson. Amazingly, a 9.6 in the same auction went for $1,300. More than a grand than I paid for this one. This is an upgrade from the 9.0 I have. Also looking to do the same with my 178 and 179. One of the very few with Neal's work interior-wise on this title, I think there was four or five in all. Enjoy.

Frazetta Greatness III

A nice pickup here from ebay. One of my favorites of Frank Frazetta's many Warren covers. Tough to find in the higher grades slabbed and when one does turn up, the price is usually quite steep. Fortunately, my best offer to the seller on ebay was accepted and I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg. Enjoy.

One More Purchase

Whew!!! Time to take a break from comic buying before I bankrupt myself. No more books until 2018. All in all, I had one of my best years ever for acquisitions. Maybe the best. I raised my total registry points from 64,000 to 77,000. Speaking of points, this one is worth an impressive 850. Fourth appearance of the new X-Men. I'll get back to the journals next year. Enjoy.

Flash 204

Won this in the recent Heritage auction. A cool Neal Adams cover with Iris Allen ratting out her husband's secret identity. Also a pedigree, which is always nice to acquire. Enjoy.

Action Packed Neal

Picked this one up today at the Toronto Fan Expo. A backup story by Neal on something called the Human Target. I like the cover by Nick Cardy, depicting an "everyday life" scene. Nine more Adams books to go. Enjoy.

X=Men 116

Picked this one up today from a LCS. Another nice dollar/point ratio here, the book being worth twice as much in points compared to the amount I paid. Enjoy.

What Happened?

I just put in my latest journal about Superboy 151 and despite going into my pictures file and adding the cover scan, it did not show up. Bummer! What gives?

Superboy 151

A pickup from Heritage auctions the other day. A rather dramatic one by Neal Adams, probably the best of his Superboy covers. Of course, you know what's on the cover does not happen in the story. Unless it's one of DC's "imaginary tales". Oh well, whatever it takes to make the sale. Enjoy.

Back To Adams

Picked this one up recently from World Wide Comics. One of the better covers by Neal Adams on this title. Not included in my Adams countdown though, since this is cover artwork only. Sightless Superman and a beached Aquaman. The Earth in peril! Enjoy.

Conan 11

Just won this in the Comic Link auction. A tough one to find in the higher grades slabbed. A surprise also, since my winning bid was under $250. Barry Windsor-Smith at his best! Marvel high grade acquisitions are easy to secure, so it seems. Enjoy.

Another Gem Acquisition

WOW! Talk about pristine! A beautiful copy with vibrant colors. Easily the best Subby 34 that I've ever seen. Looks more like a 9.8. This is the "Prelude To Defenders" issue. The team would make their official debut a short while later in Marvel Feature 1, albeit with Dr. Strange instead of the Silver Surfer. Purchased from the Comic Link exchange. Enjoy.

Make Mine Marvel Again

Picked this one up from my LCS. A cool cover by Gene Colon that I've always liked. Perfectly aligned too, which is hard to find with this issue. Enjoy.

Man-Bat!

Just won this in the current Heritage auction. A classic cover by Adams introducing one of Batman's most fearsome enemies. No doubt the most valuable Detective issue with Neal's interior work. Ten more Adams books to go. enjoy.

Make Mine Marvel!

Just bought this one on ebay. One of about half a dozen Marvel books that I plan to purchase over the summer. An alternative to my Neal Adams countdown, so to speak. Enjoy.

Aquaman 51

Just bought this one on ebay, the last of the three Aquaman issues I needed with Adams art on Deadman backup stories. I've decided to do something similar to what Krydel14 is doing with his $25,000 challenge. But on a much smaller scale. Counting down the Neal Adams books I need that have his interior artwork dated from 1967 to 1974, there are only eleven more books left that I do not have, either raw or slabbed. The remaining issues I intend to buy CGC copies, and will provide a journal for eac

Eerie 77

Picked this one up from Pedigree Comics. A nice cover and story - Within You... Without You. There are still several Warren magazines that I'm looking for, notably some with Frazetta covers that are very hard to find - Creepy 16, Eerie 7 and 81. Well, sooner or later they should turn up on the market. Enjoy.

Green Lantern 89

A nice acquisition from ebay. This issue brought an end to the legendary run by Neal Adams regarding social comment that began with GL/GA 76. I'm trying now to pick up the other issues I need in this set. Have to do some serious saving if I want to buy a 9.0 or higher grade 76 one day. Actually, the stories continued briefly as back ups in Flash 217-219. Alas, then it would end for good. Enjoy.

What Is...The Power?

Bought this one from Worldwide Comics just recently. The first work by Neal Adams at Marvel and likewise collaboration with Roy Thomas. A great cover to kick start his X-Men run, albeit a run too brief. Enjoy.

Deadman Again

Picked this one up from High Grade Comics. I seem to be on a Neal Adams splurge right now. Like the Detective 402 I recently bought, this book is very tough to find due to the ultra dark green cover. Probably the toughest one to find on Neal's run on this title, along with issue 206. Nice to have a pedigree copy too. Would have preferred better page quality, but since this book is so hard to find, I was willing to look the other way. Enjoy.

Deadman Backup Story

My latest pickup, from World Wide Comics. The first of three Deadman backup stories featured in Aquaman. Somewhat overlooked Neal Adams books. This would be the last of his artwork on this character. For a few decades, anyway. Not a bad cover by Nick Cardy. Enjoy.

Detective 402

My other win from the current Comic Link auction.  Of the books done by Adams on his Detective Comics run, this issue has to be the toughest one to find that features his interior artwork. No doubt due to the very dark green cover. Enjoy.

Adams First Batman Title Cover

Just won this in the ongoing Comic Link auction. Finally, a Neal Adams book worth decent registry points - 1500 to be exact. Very early Adams work here on this straightforward cover. As was the inclination with DC during this era, they would feature several back issue covers on their anniversary books. Enjoy.

Yet Another X-Men

Picked this one up one ebay just recently. 720 registry points, more than twice the dollar amount I paid. Awesome point/dollar ratio as usual with these late seventies X-Men. Enjoy.

X-Men 111

Picked up this at my LCS. More registry points, anyways. Don't care for this new journal format. As the saying goes - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Noticed that there were very few journals lately, due to the comments being abolished, although temporarily. Enjoy the image of my first purchase in four months.
