The Amazing Heroes looks NM from the front. Some creasiness pressed well on the top edge of the back cover, but got hammered anyway. You really have to scrutinize it closely to see the issue.
This is the only copy I've ever seen of this book other than a photograph of an even rougher looking copy. I saw this come up for sale on ebay & snagged it cheap as the only bidder. It has foxing around the edges, a stain at the bottom & some silverfish chews along the edges. Anyway, the grade here is secondary to having a signed copy of the first published work by Larry Houston, and I had serious doubts I would ever find a better copy. I used @Agents Of Slabs to get this signed in Chica
Was this an unhinged number of books to send? Probably. On the other hand, a lot of unique books, some of which are singletons or tops on the census. One also never knows how many more opportunities there will be to have these comic legends sign books. The Alter Ego is clearly the HUGE win.
Both were sent to the CGC private signing, but the What if...? didn't get unboxed properly, so they sent it off to the SWAU signing. Probably not a label I would have chosen, but can't complain about the grade.
Based on appearances, I expected the Hulk to grade higher than the Capitan America. Figured Cap would max out around 7.0. The Cap is the only graded copy out there & the cover was painted/modified by a Spanish artist Rafael López Espi. Steranko believes it started by tracing elements of his original cover since the original art was not available to be used. The Nick Fury is a beaut. taken out of an 8.5 1st gen slab & cleaned/pressed.
