So the other day one of these popped up on eBay for $350.00 BIN... raw! I have to be honest and say that if I really thought that a copy of this book had a legitimate chance at 9.8 I don't think that price is too too (yes, two too's) high. However, in order to fork out that much cash for a raw I would need tons of pics and be pretty confident with what I see.
I'm not trying to criticize the seller at all as anyone has the right to ask what they think something is worth... on the other hand, the buyer also has the right to offer what they are willing to pay. Sometimes people meet in the middle and everyone is happy. In this case, after looking at the condition of the book I felt really strongly that it WAS NOT close to being a 9.8. I also considered what previous raw copies have gone for, and barring some kind of irrational bidding war ensuing, they have went for between $50.00 and $60.00. I offered $60.00 and the results are in the title. Even if it's not a 9.8 I felt like it was worth rescuing... maybe even getting it in a slab just for the heck of it.
I've included a few pics... the 'stain' referred to in the description appears to be foxing to me but I am by no means an expert. This is not a PGM thread but if anyone thinks this is a 9.8 please let me know and perhaps I'll up my offer. Thank you!
P.S. Currently offering $1200.00 for a CGC 9.8 of this book . Appreciate any help!
