Doomsday is here!

Superman: The Man of Steel #18 (12/92) is the first full appearance of Doomsday, the villain who killed Superman in Superman #75 (1/93). I just had a copy return to me from CGC and I’m pleased with the result.

I found this piece last year at my LCS, I already had a graded copy but I couldn’t resist, I coughed up $35 and never looked back.

I didn’t take a good picture but I was amazed at the freshness of the book. The book looked like a solid 9.8. I was prepping a submission for pressing at the time, so I decided to include this. I didn’t think it needed a press but since I already had a 9.8 copy and a grading credit with CGC, I decided it was worth the wait and pressing fee to increase the probability of getting the desired grade. I also wanted this book in a current generation CGC holder.

Why not send my graded copy in for a ReHolder? Because I also wanted to say that I found the first appearance of Doomsday at my LCS that I then submitted to get a 9.8.

I got my first graded copy in 2012 on eBay for $65, I thought then that was a little steep. The FMV is much higher today.

Not to over do it but I found another raw copy at my LCS recently. 

This copy is also very solid, it looks like history could repeat itself.

I don’t mind minty fresh multiples.
