  1. I liked this duck from the NC water fowl sanctuary. bb And I wonder why the first comic book size Mickey Mouse Magazine is worth substantially less than the last issue. It had a nice Pinocchio back cover too.
  2. Christmas is over and all that is left are the bills to pay... unless you are going out for New Years Day and in Philadelphia that means Mummers. Are there any other Mummer stories? bb
  3. Love the MJ and Sniffles story and I hope you and everyone on the boards got their Christmas Wish. My wife got a couple more Tasha Tudor books for Christmas. I must say that I like her work too and she will be missed. Scan from "The Art of Tasha Tudor" by Harry Davis
  4. What's the URL for that page? http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/stats2.php http://goldenagecomics.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=3.0 I don't know if either of these will work as links but you can try. bb
  5. It's listed with the Unsorted Files. Link Jack, If you check the Goldenage Comics message board at GA.UK, you will find that Yok lists the most recent 100 uploads. There is a lot of information there that is helpful for identification of artists and publishers. And there are a lot of neat comics posted. But I miss the smell of the golden age paper (and DC and Timely scans). bb
  6. I had my Christmas early this year. My daughter came up north last week from South Carolina with her boy friend who is in the Marines. We exchanged gifts and had a big dinner. One of the gifts that I received was the DC Vault which has a bunch of nifty items in it. I won't go into detail about all of the stuff in case some of you get one tomorrow, cause it might spoil the surprise. But I found a couple of reprints inside of items that I don't have. One was the Cleveland fire giveaway. The other is the comic mag that comes with the Superman Buddy suit. I was wondering whether this ad from an ACG comic was the same suit. bb
  7. I noticed this Batman parody from Toy Town comics by LB Cole. The Bat was practically blind after he lost his glasses. Perhaps Bruce Wayne should have worn the glasses instead of Clark Kent. It would have been more bat-like. bb Scan from goldenagecomics.co.uk
  8. Since Famous Funnies was the first modern comic, I assumed that they would have the first Christmas cover. Famous Funnies 5 from the GCD. I have an earlier Platinum age book with a Christmas cover but that is probably another question. How many platinum age Christmas covers are there?
  9. I love Christmas covers. Anyone know who had the very first Christmas cover? Since Famous Funnies was the first modern comic, I assumed that they would have the first Christmas cover. Famous Funnies 5 from the GCD. I have an earlier Platinum age book with a Christmas cover but that is probably another question. How many platinum age Christmas covers are there?
  10. BZ, I enjoyed this WDCS story when I was a kid too. I bought it again 20 years ago. I don't have my original copy but I do have my brothers Uncle Scrooge collection. bb
  11. Do you happen to have the rest of the story scanned? No, just those two pages. well, there is time to kill today i added a few more. bb
  12. The Funnies had Christmas covers way back when. I like the Williams "Worry Wart" combined with Mutt (or is that a Gump). May all your Christmas stockings have holes in them (big enough for a few GA comics). bb and Smitty and the Major Scans from goldenagecomics.co.uk
  13. Walt Disney Comics and Stories had a Christmas issue every year. And so did Looney Tunes. It would have been good to have a subscription like Jack.
  14. There were several nice Uncle Scrooge Christmas covers.
  15. I found a Rogue issue from Christmas of 1956 in the same box as Dennis and Alvin. The Rogue has a Harlan Ellison story (and a Bettie Page ad). And the Calgary Eyeopener had Christmas cartoons in this 1936 issue but the devils on the cover weren't exactly St. Nicholas. Cover by George Pollard. Cover might be by Barks. Xmas colors red and green were used and they could be Xmas belles.
  16. I think I posted this Mickey Mouse Club magazine cover before but since it is Christmas again... and there were lots of other Christmas giants like Dennis and Alvin for example. Those were from 1963 and not even close to Golden Age but heck it is Christmas.
  17. I think we already posted Christmas Parade 1, 2 and 4 (reprint). Here is 7, 8, 9 and Dell Giant 26. I thought I had 3 but couldn't find it. I still need 5 too I guess. But these are good ones. My brother loved the story in issue 9 (Christmas in Duckburg). "The Moose Story" I call it. bb Some of the back covers were pretty neat too. Each issue had toys, games, animations, quizzes,,,
  18. BZ, I like those Wonders of Toyland in Tip Top. Another reason to get more early issues. bb
  19. DC made some nice Christmas covers. I like the Comic Cavalcade issues. Unfotunately I don't own any of these five comics and the scans were made by someone else.
  20. Every year I promise myself that I will complete my Christmas Parade run but by March I forget. I think I am missing at least a couple. I did get a discount copy of the first issue 10 years ago.
  21. Jo-Joy was pretty entertaining. WT Grant also produced the Little Fir Tree Story. I also have a McCrory's Toy Story giveaway. I found the Chistmas Tree story at the flea market with a bunch of old children's books. bb
  22. Dell Comics are so wonderful. I'm surprised they aren't collected by tons more people. The Christmas comics are particularly nice. These are some of my non-Duck favorites. bb
  23. This issue also had a Scrooge story and a Christmas subscription ad on the back. Which is a pretty nice book. And the story has the classic Scrooge foreclosing on mortgages and swimming in money.
  24. This is one of my favorite Barks' Christmas stories.
  25. Here are a couple more giveaways, the 1943 and 1946 Firestones. I only own one of these (1946) which I found at the local flea market at the bottom of a big pile of newpaper.
