  1. I probably have a few more Dell 10 cent paperbacks but they are hiding in another box. I tend to buy books with Sci Fi covers that I like. bb
  2. Here are a couple more Dell Mystery Novels. Is Poirot a Walloon or is he from Brussels? I haven't read enough Christie novels to know. bb
  3. I went looking for that box of paperbacks but didn't find it yet. But I found a couple of dozen mixed in with the Big Little Books. Here are a few random issues. I kind of liked the Avons but there are some nice Dell covers too. I think someone mentioned this small Mickey Mouse book a while back. bb Bogie, Tim Holt, John and Walter Huston in the same movie. We don't need no badges. Didn't someone sell this Fawcett paperback on another thread? I didn't know I had this one.
  4. Jack, Thanks for checking on that comic. WF 2 has a nice mix of stories which reminds me of World's Fair 1940. I made this Christmas card 10 years ago from a cover of Nature. I never managed to publish a paper there but it made a good Xmas card I think.
  5. I probably buy too many coverless comics but I have fun trying to figure out which issue they are and finding a color copy of the cover. Recently, I purchased five Superman comics on ebay and found not one Superman in the batch. It wasn't that hard to figure out that four of the issues were Action 32, 41, 66 and 68, but the other issue had a Batman story in it. Well I thought I could narrow that down easy enough even though the first page of the Superman story was missing. It also had a Johnny Thunder story where he was riding a motorcycle. The suicide shift was on the left side which confirms that he was riding a Harley. Fun to have and it goes in the box with my other coverless Superman issues.
  6. Absolutely right, BZ. From a friend on the Four Color project: Jack Thanks BZ and Jack. I noticed that the boat in the background of the cover is also a prominent character in the story (but no horse?). I am a little reluctant to assign an issue number based on the cover since GA comics often mixed up covers and stories but the FC project confirms it. Nice story anyway, I will have to go back and read it again. I didn't know there were so many Raggedy fans in the GA group. bb
  7. HOLY FUDD! I've posted some Raggedy Ann pages on the boards, but this tops them all! Is it from one of the Four Color books? The early ones were 64 pp + covers w/ no ads. If you have the story title or first line of dialog, it might be possible to ID it. Thanks for posting the great centerfold. Jack Jack, here is the first page. Is it listed in the GCD? A lot of these golden age gems are missing from the inventory but I haven't checked for this one. bb
  8. The final editorial from EC Mad Comics. What me worry? You can see where it started. bb
  9. This comic with Johnny Gruelle's Raggedy Ann had a 64 page story and a full size centerfold splash. Does anyone one know which issue it was? bb
  10. Cool magazine. I've never seen St John illos of that sort. Is Two-Fisted Stories a Canadian magazine? Published by Consolidated Book Publishers 153 North Michigan Ave., Chicago 1, Illinois
  11. I probably posted this book before. The cover is by Foster and the book was given to newspapaer subscribers I think. The endplate was cool too. I like seeing Prince V and Popeye discussing various smiting techniques. bb Those EC ads scare me. Booga, Booga!
  12. Someone mentioned in another thread that they like Four Favorites. I could use a lot more Ace and Harvey comics in my collection. bb
  13. Michael Vance mentioned to me that they are preparing a compilation of some strips made by Grass Green. Grass and Howard Keltner, who prepared the index, were two of the earliest fans who wrote stories and created new characters for fanzines. Mike sent me this scan of the cover. bb
  14. I didn't think the cover was interesting but the interior was illustrated in part by St. John. It was also published by BB and love the title "Two-Fisted Stories for MEN" bb
  15. I thought I would post a few nifty Christmas cards that Michael Vance has shared with myself and others.
  16. I saw this splash posted somewhere and thought it would look good here. bb We have another funny helmut in the bottom panel.
  17. That is one of my favorite Black Terror covers too. This one is from the Wally collection. bb
  18. This is supposed to be "Menace of the Maple Leaves" but it looks more like "Attack of the Horrific Holly". Is this anti-Canadian or some comment about the hockey team by Ditko. bb
  19. Nice looking cover and better after the photoshop. I tried to fix the color on this scan of Four Favorites 9 but I think it went a little too purple but the flesh tones are more correct than the jaundice that was there before the adjustment. I like the robot and the cartoony style. bb
  20. BZ. I was reading some of the new scans form Goldenagecomics.co.uk and enjoyed the Barker story in National 43, which was the first issue with Spudo. Jack Cole signed the splash which is pretty good. What was his role in creating the character? bb
  21. And Happy Thanksgiving to you and the rest of the GA gang from BB, Mrs. BB, the kids and my strange pets. And peace! bb It looks like these covers were inspired by the same muse. bb
  22. And Happy Thanksgiving to you and the rest of the GA gang from BB, Mrs. BB, the kids and my strange pets. And peace! bb
  23. Uh-oh. shiverbones -> yulebones -> now turkeybones Fickle! Jack just wait 'til bunnybones shows up next Easter Rabbits taste pretty good. Reminds me of chicken. They were popular items on the menu in Belgium. They were also popular in Michigan during the financial breakdown of the seventies. Do they prefer possum and squirrel in KY. I am pretty sure that they prefer deer in PA. But I am glad that I can still afford a turkey for thanksgiving. bb
  24. I think I have a few Bingbang Buster stories too. But most of those have been compiled at goldeagecomics.uk
