  1. I don't have that Thanksgiving issue but I do have at least one Mystic Moot story. bb
  2. And someone said they like snake covers on another thread... What about a sweaty splash by Palais? Don't you hate waking up with a big snake in the bed. We used to have lizards in the Christmas trees in Houston. bb
  3. I think Cole did the first splash and Palais did the second page. I have forgotten who did the others. But they are worth looking at if you still have raw copies. From goldenagecomics.uk
  4. And this cover was for sale on Heritage. I like this splash page from Speed 35. bb
  5. Just saw this Thanksgiving cover. And I noticed that Bob Fuje did a Shock Gibson story for Harvey. This Speed issue (38) was a treat to read. Thanks to goldenagecomics.uk. Harvey superhero comics are way undervalued. They had great covers and really good interior art.
  6. And AIU #5 had Spirit of Frankenstein. The monster in this case was really a giant robot. bb
  7. Yes. The early ones have some really cool stuff. (thumbs u AIU #3 had a story by Feldstein.
  8. Oops! I don't seem to be getting anything right. Oh well! Nice going Det27! I was just funnin with you BB... you got it (thumbs u Where is the Twister when you need him? You fooled me completely. I have to learn to read the fine print. bb I thought this was a pretty good character but he didn't last very long in Blue Bolt. He did a double crossover in V2-1 Unfortunately he was killed off by the Bean Man.
  9. Oops! I don't seem to be getting anything right. Oh well! Nice going Det27!
  10. Oh, I see. I batted 0 for 2 on that one. Hamlin is from Iowa but he attended the University of Missouri. bb
  11. Edited to change comic title from The Comics to The Funnies. Issue number was also 27 and not 22. bb
  12. That should read The Funnies. Sorry I mixed up those two. There are some great scans available of the Funnies issues. And I am not sure which issue it was either. OK, where is the retirement home? bb
  13. There are a lot of great Hamlin strips. I enjoyed this page from issue 22, I think. It is the only issue of The Comics that I have so I should remember. Isn't he from Missouri? bb I also like all of the JR Williams cartoons in The Comics. Scans of all of the early issues are available at Goldenagecomics.UK
  14. ciorac, I have some early Targets but that isn't one of them. I photoshopped a scan by someone else. It looks a little like Wood but it is probably more Greene trying to look like Wood. He did the internal story and signed and it looks completely different so you know that it was Greene and Wood was not involved. Wood did a lot of characters and is sometimes given credit for polishing up the early Batman (or doing the whole thing) for Kane. It seems reasonable to me. Kane signed his name to work done by a lot of different artists. bb
  15. I am amazed by the color in some of the pre-code horror comics. This story by Palais is an example. Who did the color work and did they use references by the artists?
  16. Cool book Pons! Busy building up a stash for your upcoming con? Yep upcoming con That looks like a cover by Bob Woods but I thought that Sid Greene usually did the Target. Who did the art inside? bb The cover is signed by Bob Wood. I'll check the interior tonight Interior checked. Bob Wood as well. I didn't realize that Bob Wood had drawn so many early Target stories. I guess your cover (V2#6) is the last one that he did. By V2#9, Sid Greene was doing the covers and the interior art. bb
  17. Wouldn't it be great if Bozo visited the castle of this Sandman: The hair style is similar and the make-up. Perhaps Bozo likes a little more lip gloss. He does have an interesting bag of tricks that he picks up for some of the stories. He used a spray can to travel back and forth in Time. Cap Marvel had to visit a mountain and Sup had to travel relatively fast. Bozo did seem to be invulnerable to harm and didn't need air to breath (unless it was convenient for the plot). But they were good stories that didn't require blood and gore to attract the readers. bb
  18. Cool book Pons! Busy building up a stash for your upcoming con? Yep upcoming con That looks like a cover by Bob Woods but I thought that Sid Greene usually did the Target. Who did the art inside? bb
  19. I like the superhero covers (and the jungle covers and the Sci Fi covers). Alter Ego 61 and 62 contain portions of Michael Vance's book about Nedor/Standard/ACG Buy the book and order the back issues for more information. bb
  20. BZ, My mistake. I thought the "Forgot" story continued in another issue but I may have confused it with the "Sandman" story in issue 6. ... or I read the same story twice and forgot. bb
  21. Great work, BB. I love the animations. Thanks BZ. I use the easy method, unlike Flee who is the master. I make several photoshop copies of my idea and then load them up at Gickr.com They finish the GIF and I make a copy for posting. I was thinking of everyone's IRA (and the national debt) when I made the one above. bb
  22. Very cool! I think my copy is the third edition. They went back to the original colors on the cover. One of my roommates painted the entire wall of one of the bedrooms with a very good Mr. Natural image. It was a birthday present for Graham in 1972. Unfortunately I didn't get a photo. Graham now lives in Iowa and teaches TM. bb
  23. I copied all of these scans from Goldenagecomics.UK but for got to post them. Most of these are by Baker, but I would suggest that someone else also worked on the art. I thought of Gov. Palin when I saw this Skygirl splash.
  24. I hear that it is already snowing in the northwest which means it is snowing in Canada too. Not much to do back in 1945, when weather was like that, but sit back and read your Weekender. Or go watch the ice skaters. Petty was good. The Mister E story in Weekender was well drawn too. bb Are issues of the Weekender rare? It was a 7 in Gerber and not shown.
