  1. I love the ads that are on the back cover of some of the golden age comics. This is from Dynamic 1. And I like the goofy helmets that some of the characters wore. I think Nedor had a similar character with a egyptian theme.
  2. Somebody downloaded all of the Wolverton scans from my flickr account cause he really liked them I guess. He had a nice connection to the Crumb sites on youtube. Thanks Zootdroop for reminding me about all of those great underground comics. bb I think this copy was from East Lansing by way of Ohio. It was well read by many roommates at the time and I am amazed that it survived from 1970.
  3. Speaking of Pennsylvania comics, I picked this up from Golden Eagle in PA. Nice pages. Lem was a really good guy. bb
  4. From the GCD, it looks like Dynamic 10. The Dynamic Man story would be "The Sleep King". bb
  5. I posted a sci fi ark cover a while back and someone asked if there were more with that theme. I recently saw a couple posted at different sites. The first is from Goldenagecomics.uk The second is either ebay or the silver age section of these boards. and last but not least from the pulp box in my office...
  6. What are the stories in Jest? I am trying to identify a coverless copy with a Rocketman story featuring The Spider Master. I thought it was Punch 21 but there is a Johnny Rebel story in the comic, 52 pages and it is trimmed down from the usual wide Chesler, which makes me conclude that it is a later issue in the line. I don't have any information on Jest. bb
  7. Let's not be confused. THIS is a paper doll and a doll on paper (sorry for the sub-par scan) I like the Dragon Lady pinups but I prefer to see them in color. Baker is still the best.
  8. What about Subby 11? It looks good in the box with all of the Super boys, men, snipes, magicians, mysteries, ducks and comics. bb
  9. Just got the rest of them listed. They should all be on by tonight. Check them out. Thanks Dale, Your pulps on ebay look pretty good. I got a big chuckle out of this one. I am not sure why. Pizza, a loaf of bread, a skull and a bunt cake. That's multi-tasking. bb
  10. I like Heck but Feldstein did some of my favorite Sci Fi covers. And he also did some nice crime comics. bb
  11. Heck, I liked this cover. I don't think my scanner did it justice. It has a nice Palais story too. bb
  12. What did the Angel do before he joined the X-Men? Well, he enjoyed picnics. And Bergey knew how to make the cover interesting. Strange looking dinosaur like creature in the background. That Startling was pretty beat up. It is taped and photoshopped. I thought I could read the Henry Kuttner story even if the cover doesn't survive. bb
  13. This early Buster Brown comic has a light paper cover due to paper shortage. Interior art looks like Meskin with maybe Robinson inks and Kiefer did the second story (oops that one was also signed by Kiefer). I don't know who did the western but it looks like someone that worked for Centaur (was his name Winston?). bb
  14. I'm just catching up on this thread. I love those Jim Solar Space Sherriff issues. "The Spidermen of Venus" sounds like a good story. Who did the art? bb
  15. BZ, Where are you? Did a bug get you or just your computer? Does anyone have other sets of Hingees. I like the Blondie set but I would like to see the Di_k Tracy and Terrry and the Pirates Sets. Mickey Mouse and Popeye would be nice to see also. bb They are Fun! And there is Action! And Thrills? It's another animated paper toy. Don't call it a "paper doll" please!
  16. Scan above is from Porky's Duck Hunt. I purchased this at a flea market and I think it is the first appearance of Daffy in book form. Unfortunately, it won't fit on my new scanner. bb
  17. Dale, Those are nice pulps. I found a few nice Amazing issues on line also. My new scanner only copied half of the cover but it picked up the best part. After I learn how to use it, I will try to scan the bedsheet pulps again. Progress....Senor Red Mask is pretty cool though. bb
  18. I found another Duck book in one of the boxes in my closet. Donald was the name but he apparently hadn't enlisted in the Navy yet. He wore a sailor suit in his next appearance I think. bb
  19. Someone requested the covers by Paul. Are you tired of WWII aircraft? bb I posted these before.
  20. Someone requested the Marvel pulp. Are you tired of WWII aircraft? bb I purchased my copy from Jon Bevans.
  21. I saw a list of WWII bombers on TV today and it mentioned the Focke-Wulf FW 189. This is a variation of the plane which was used for recon missions primarily. It is a little strange also. bb
  22. ..and the shield looked pretty good in Pep 17 as well, although not by Storm. bb Interior scans by me. Pep 17 scans that I have from Goldenagecomics.UK are in black and white except for the cover.
  23. BZ, I think you asked a question about Bobby Thatcher when I first posted the cover (or maybe not but things seemed to tie together recently). I was reading an article about George Storm by Ron Goulart in an old issue of Nemo. He created Bobby Thatcher which was one of the earliest adventure strips. He also created the Hangman for MLJ. Not to mention doing the first Bugs Bunny strip for Dell. His style was more cartoonish on the Hangman and he didn't stick with the strip for very long but it had a bizarre look which made the villians seem more crazy. He also killed off Jack Cole's Comet who wasn't the same without Cole. bb A sibilant, mocking laugh pierces the thick drapes of gloom...(sounds like the Shadow).
