  1. I don't have my collection recorded anywhere. I'd like to keep a record online. Does anyone have a recommendation? I could just use a Google Spreadsheet, but I'd like to use a tool that can take advantage of existing databases online and tools for scanning to add each book. I see that GoCollect has a service for $12/mo. It looks great, but I'm not an active seller/trader and so this is more than I want to spend. I might want to be more active some time in the future, but right now I just want something simple to get started.
  2. I loved this story line. Here is my favorite scene from the book ( not an actual photo from my book ):
  3. Another Fantastic Four that was direct mailed to me through 2nd class USPS. This one is in significantly better condition than #244 that I also posted - but still not great. How bad do you think? Included below is a shot of the original brown paper that the comic was mailed in. Return mail: “Marvel Comics Group, 575 Madison Ave, New York, NY, 10022.
  4. In the early 80s, I had subscriptions to the Fantastic Four, Spider-Man, Daredevil, and X-Men. All the books came mailed in paper sheaths ( see photo of brown paper mailer below: return mail address: “575 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10022”). Unfortunately, many of the books that were direct mailed to me got chewed up. This one unfortunately was among those chewed up in the mail. How bad is it?
  5. What do you think? Are the ripples on the back cover a problem? Thoughts and input is much appreciated!
  6. I've been buying comics at near cover price and not throwing them away for over 40yrs, but not yet a collector. A problem I am having is that the grades I'm seeing posted don't seem to match the text definitions I'm reading (e.g. https://comics.gocollect.com/grading-conditions ). 2.0 grade: 1/2" triangle missing from the cover. ... 'Tape and other forms of amateur repair' ... 'May have up to a 2" spine split. Staples [...] missing'. The book I posted doesn't have any large pieces missing, and the interior pages look really good. As I mentioned in my first post, I read at another site that a 'cover may be loose, but not completely detached' and still get a 4.0 grade. What I think I’m starting to get a handle on is the accumulated effect of issues, and the importance for the book to look presentable - even if it has serious problems.
  7. Also, almost every book I own has a mark in the bottom left corner. But on this book the chad has not torn off, like others have.
  8. The top right corner has a slight bend in the cover; here’s a close up of that. There's also a faint line in the black that is more apparent from the straight-on photo ( but I never saw it with my naked eye).
