it would become a qualified book , with married cover Wouldn't a green label with married cover be worth more than a brittle copy?
-
Another question. I see alot of books with brittle pages from the golden age. I and many other people refuse to buy books with slightly brittle or brittle pages. However I always wondered if it was possible to take a brittle copy and take the cover off and marry it to a coverless copy that has good page quality? How would that change the grade? It seems like brittle pages also bring the grade down significantly. Would the cover also be brittle if the pages are?

Thanks again for the advice. Already have Batman 18 and 47. Now the search starts for Action 15 and more importantly 23. every title has a few good ones. Ww is 6&7, superman is 14,17 , aa is 61, as has 33,36 etc etc How about Superman 24, 26, 53, Batman 8, 9, Cap 13, 26, 28, 36, Action 58, Adventure 42, 44, Human Torch 23, More Fun 61, 77? Am I on the right track with those? they are all fine examples Are books with classic covers without mainstream superheros good to invest in (ie: Mask 1, 2, Terrific Comics 5, Spirit 22, etc) ? Or are they too obscure and too niche of a market? They have historically done fine. Thanks again for the help!

If you like the origin expanded / origin retold books, Action 158 (1951) is an underappreciated one. In addition to the usual origin elements, it syncs up Superboy and Superman continuity for the first time -- by connecting them with the now-famous 'Jonathan Kent's dying moments' scene, with Jonathan telling Clark he's ready to go forth and be Superman now, basically. It's a nifty stepping stone from the Golden Age to the more continuity-minded days of the Silver Age. Thanks for the heads up I think Superman 53 is also an underappreciated origin book.

What type of GA books would be the best investment? Non mainstream superhero books? Would you be able to give some examples? I always thought that non mainstream superhero books (ex: Black Terror, Bulletman, early Prize Comics, etc) as a decent shorter to medium term investment but a bad long term investment, because they are appreciated by mostly older people, and it's a niche market. Once the older people pass away, then its possible that younger people will not appreciate it as much, which could hurt the market. The mainstream stuff will always be appreciated so it can do nothing but go up. Are second tier character 1st appearance keys also tough investments in the current market? Like All American Comics #s 19 and 20, or Sensation Comics #58, All Star comics #5 or Adventure Comics #48?

Detective 28 is a good book, but the reason I don't know about it is because it's already gotten a bigger boost lately. The other books I listed haven't seen a major jump in price. If you look at New York Worlds Fair 1939, the price has been pretty close to stagnant for many, many years and it is a harder to find, GA key. And if you look at Detective 30, and 32, they are still very affordable unrestored, especially when compared to the Batman covers, and they are early Batman appearances with cool covers and good stories with the continuation of the stories from 29 and 31. And issue 32 features the 1st time Batman uses a gun. People who can't get the classic covers might eventually settle for 30 and 32.
-
Mr GAtor I have to ask 2 things. What do you think is the most undervalued GA comic right now? I want to buy a book for myself that is nice, but also a good investment. I'm leaning towards New York Worlds Fair 1939, Detective Comics 28, 30, or 32. Is it a good time to buy those books or have they reached their ceiling for a while?
-
I'm kind of tempted on the 29 as well. I would imagine that one going for maybe 10k. Looks like a nice affordable copy
-
My books aren't showing up either. They're probably just backed up.
-
Weird question but why are the non Batman covers so undervalued? Detective 28 seems so undervalued when you consider it's the 2nd appearance of Batman
-
This basically shows how crazy pre Robin books have gotten. Not crazy if you have the wrap and can unrestore the book..... That would probably cost some change. Would it really be worth it? Especially since unrestoring it would give it a detached cover, a married wrap and a pretty low grade

Thanks. I just did and was told another 2 weeks. Glad I paid extra for fast track. That money went to good use
-
Not sure why my 6/14 value fast track has been stuck on scheduled for a couple of weeks
-
And I have a MST of 30 books received on 5-3-16 that has been sitting on Graded for the last 2 weeks. I can beat that. I have an economy slow track book that was received on 3/31 that has been sitting at graded for almost a month and a half.
-
So has anyone received their books in the past month? Or are they holding everything?
-
Expect a long wait. My 1 economy book has been sitting at graded for 3 weeks now.
-
So I submitted some books two weeks ago and only only one of the two submissions is showing up as received so far. Should I call them? Or is this pretty much the normal right now?
