  1. Same type of staples from the time frame, from what I've been told. At least that's the goal of a good restoration artist.
  2. The tec 140 should do crazy well. What's amazing is the AA61 isn't the highest graded copy. I think the PL 17 and 23 bidding wars will be brutal. A Timely or two might also blow a few minds and crack 100K. Hmm nobody talk about those Speed comics yet?
  3. When they do come up for sale, is it going to be one of those "mail your bid in" things again?
  4. This may be the worst article on the show. Not sure which was the worst part. The parts about Ahsoka's age clearly show the writer has limited knowledge of the show.
  5. Solid show so far. I think it will build like they often do.
  6. Hmm, I might have sold you one of them.
  7. I know there are some very nice HG Northland horror books out there. I thought Greggy has some of them. I might have one, I'll have to look.
  8. In one of the collection of GA books I picked up," Dolores" started making custom library cards and taped a sleeve on the inside front cover of some of her books so others could check them out. I think she did that with about 3 or 4 of them.
  9. I actually like this guy compared to a lot of them. I've watched him since he started moving into non-sports. I'm not so sure I see a crash going back to pre 2020 prices either, but I see some possible big bumps in the road ahead.
  10. Jordan RC cards since late Feb have been falling across the board. Yes certainly way above if you bought over a year ago, you are still doing great. But if you bought a Jordan in PSA 10 in Feb. you might have paid $600-$700K+. Now you can get one for around 400K If you bought a PSA 9 in Feb it peeked at around 90K, but you can buy one today for around 30K. There are numerous other examples in both sport and non-sports have have seen some of the same drops. Pokemon, Star Wars, the list goes on. Jordan PSA 9 graph below.
  11. I know there is a nice Fight Against Crime 20 with a couple covers. There is also a long running rumor about an Action Comics 1 with a double cover but the owner took the second cover off and sold it separate many years ago.
  12. No book is bullet proof, but I would say there is a lot of solid Golden Age. I would just watch the sports cards/non sports cards. And get ready for the same thing to hit here. Not sure how high it will go before the drop, but I except the same thing that happened to Jordan etc. to happen here with many top key books that went bonkers have some drastic corrections. If I had to pick a top book to stay away from a few eras I would say X-Men 1, FF48 (Silver), Giant-Sized X-Men 1 (Bronze), or Marvel Previews 95. (Modern)
  13. That's PSA/DNA Authentication. They do that with everything from balls to bats to photos. Although seems kind of funny to send them a comic. https://www.psacard.com/services/autographauthentication
  14. A few tips that have helped me over the years. 1. Advertising. It might cost you a little but if you are diligent, it pays off. You need to go all in for the long haul. I get people calling me from ads placed years ago. 2. Reputation and consignment. I've gotten referrals from friends, family and repeat customers. If they are skeptical then I work on consignment and help sell for them. Sometimes I feel like a comic book broker. 3. Maybe the most important. Work with your local dealers, and help them stay in business. Often they do not have the expertise or bankroll to work out bigger deals. Rather than simply take advantage of your local dealer, I'll often keep them aware of the latest exploding prices. In return we will sometimes work deals together for larger buys. This cooperation is key to a healthy relationship where both of you continue to win.
  15. Craigslist used to be great, but things like Facebook marketplace and other apps have taken over for the most part. Especially in the last year or two. I still sometimes get hits, I've had one this year so far. It's not completely dead. I still seem to get a deal once every 3-4 months. As for garage sales, I may go out maybe once a year.
  16. This one rather boring. All the other books she had was worthless so I picked up just the one. She was selling them for the original owner and we made a deal on her front porch. Hmm, so ok, how about an interesting story. I think I've got quite a few over the years. Have you heard the story about the low grade Hulk 1 (poor/fair) I bought from a Demonologist? Basically this person contacted me and left a message. When I called back, his son fielded the phone call asking a ton of questions about me. His son was screening phone calls because he get lots of wackos seeing him out. Later I found out he was kind of famous and on the Art Bell radio show. The guy was part of a real life Ghost Hunters Group and investigated the paranormal. He actually went to the Vatican and was trained in Demonology. Or at least thats what he claimed. He said he was also a comic book collector when he was a kid and Hulk 1 was one of his favorite comics he bought off the newsstands and saved it from his childhood. He said he was getting too old for the whole thing, and he needed some cash. Also the calls he got over the years were from mostly leaking pipes or houses with airflow problems. Sometimes he said there was a cursed object and he would do some kind of reading. Personally, I questioned whether he actually believed the whole thing himself. Or maybe he was loosing faith in the whole practice. I don't know. Both him and his wife were very nice people and we met at a McDonalds near Redding CA. He had other comics as well but wanted too much for them. He had a ASM 129 also. We met a couple times, I think I bought a few books from him but that was it. This was about 5-6 years ago. Here's a picture of the book.
  17. https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superman-35-dc-1945-cgc-nm-mt-98-white-pages/a/7204-91079.s?ic4=GalleryView-Thumbnail-071515 You're welcome. As you can see this was also before it was an official pedigree.
  18. Adamstrange is correct. There are numerous examples of 9.6 and 9.8 copies from non-pedigrees with writing on the front. In fact I can think of an example where there is small first name written on the front cover, (one of the "Eldon" books) yet still get a 9.8 without CGC having to assign it a pedigree. I've had CGC grade more than a few high grade GA copies over the years with writing on them. And usually they had no effect on the final grade. Feel free to check the Heritage site to see for yourself. It might take you a little bit because so many of the 9.6's and 9.8's are pedigrees, but they are certainly there. Also, not saying I don't think there looks to be a bit of overgrading here and there, but one thing people do not see from a scan very well is the preservation quality. Often pedigrees get a small bump from the amazing preservation.
  19. I've had books with foxing worse than that for over 30 years and I really can't notice much difference between then and now.
  20. Would be a fun job working for them, but its in Florida. I'm in CA
  21. Stain, might have some slight foxing as well.
