  1. Thank you, Jennifer. Very clear
  2. Hello, If I have a book already slabbed and graded; can I send it in for a signature signing event? I certainly wouldn't feel comfy trying to remove it from the casing myself. Thank you, Rich
  3. That's right ... I liked the quick answer in my head better. 21 months just made me frown! That brings me to January 2024 Thank for the information.
  4. Thanks Jennifer! And wow ... 15 months is long, long time
  5. Sorry if this was already asked .... If a book was submitted for 'press + grading', how to I project the approximate turnaround time? Specifically, the current turnaround for pressing is 254 days and turnaround time for grading is 212 days, am I looking at 254 days - or - 254 + 212 (466) days?
  6. Not sure what exactly happened to this book ... really great shape, great color, other than the whole top left region of the book. Wondering if that glaring defect over the "M" in Marvel drops the book below 6.0 grade?

  8. Okay ... i was prepared for it being received as a dumb question. But I did want to be sure Prompted me to do the searching! I did find the videos on this site that show several back covers having issues worse than mine perfectly resolved.
  9. My apologies in advance if this is ridiculous ..... but pressing is applied to both front and back? I just wanted to be sure -- a pressing candidate I have is immaculate, but has an ever so slight bend on the back cover. Not really a bend, but more of like a faint depression if you angle it just the right way in the light.
  10. My mistake ... i was thinking cheapest service available. Yes, they were sent as modern!
  11. I'd have to double check the math, but it was explained as the cost/difference from economy to standard because the book was perceived to be well over the $400 threshold.
  12. So, my 1st of 6 batches have been returned to me! Just an FYI to confirm some of the above ... 2 of the submissions were ASM #361. Graded 9.6 and 9.8 respectively. I was contacted that the 9.8 exceeded the value threshold and I was charged for a higher tier of grading. Not so sure I agree with this approach -- but it is what it is.
  13. Submitting 20 books: I want to send in 10 books for grading, 5 modern and 5 silver, I also want to send in 10 books for pressing and grading, 5 modern and 5 silver. Can I just enter all 20 into the online submission form and submit them in one shipment? The two CGC service groups would be bundled separately.
  14. Thanks for all this feedback. A bit to think about but I get it. What you said about different graders, different grades, makes perfect sense to the subjective nature of grading, but I do try to believe that the grades are as consistent as is reasonable. Although, on a personal note, I've stopped sending in multiple copies in the same batch
  15. Very interesting Zzutac ... wouldn't have thought an insect! But with that type of blemish ... is there a maximum grade one could receive? I guess what I'm trying to equate it to, is like with a 1" tear you couldn't grade 6.0
  16. Hey Everyone, Was hoping for some insight on how a particular defect impacts grading. Highlighted the right edge chunk issue in a close up pic below. It's only the cover -- inside pages look fine. I'm curious because I have 2 other books (1 silver, 1 modern) with a very similar issue. Any feedback is appreciated
  17. Thank you both. I know its not a very high grade/valuable comic, but I will take a look at the costs nonetheless.
  18. Thanks .. just making sure. Everyone has been really helpful on these boards so I didn't want to risk ignoring anyone
  19. I have a question about 'color touch' ... I had this book graded 15 years ago and had it for some time before that. I was surprised, disappointed, etc., when it was returned with a purple label and at a 4.0 grade. Is this something CGC restoration removal services would remedy without damaging the book? There are no grader notes and I don't even know where the color touch is.
  20. Thanks guys And i just googled 'Church Pedigree'. I definitely recall hearing the 'Mile High' pedigree years back. Turns out Mile High = Church.
  21. I'm not disagreeing, but since the tiers do reflect different/higher pricing for the service based on value, wouldn't CGC object to declaring a lower value?
