  1. I'm starting to wonder if CGC is actually doing this on purpose just to mess with me. I sent this magazine in, then had to send it back for mechanical error reholder because there are a bunch of scuffs inside the slab. I made a note on the packing slip about the problem and "customer service" had seen pictures of the damage. I got it back and I'm pretty sure it was the same exact slab. I sent pictures to "customer service" again, made notes on the packing slip in big, bold marker, and even circled the affected areas on the slab itself, and I get back what somehow looks like the same slab again - unless they scuffed up the inside of another slab. I've had over 100 magazines graded and have only had that scuffing issue on a couple of other slabs, and it was fixed after a single resubmission. And of course, they tried to bill me each time because nobody either takes notes or pays attention to the notes over there, so now I have to deal with resubmitting this and then fighting to get my membership credit balance fixed. Again. And nobody over there cares. I've been holding off on submitting about 75 other comics and magazines and now I'm not even sure if I want to bother with it anymore. I made this in the Ask CGC subforum, asking what to do from here, and they just deleted it. That makes me think these issues are way more common and we're just not seeing the posts. These pictures aren't even half the problem. When a bright light is on this, a lot more scuffs show up. If I move the light around, they all cast very visible shadows onto the magazine itself.
  2. I've got some recent orders that I got back in less than 5 months, but some that have been sitting there for about a year. Are submissions not generally graded in order received?
  3. I just bought the first (only?) 10 issues of Nuts! and I can't seem to find much of anything about it at all. I haven't personally owned anything particularly uncommon or rare - as far as monetary value goes, would these be worth more raw, or graded? As this seems fairly uncommon, I'd imagine that some collectors out there would rather buy these to read than to display or hide away in a closet.
  4. I know it has "magazine" in the title, but it's got the physical characteristics of a comic book. I guess on that note, where exactly is the line drawn between whether an item is a comic book or a magazine?
  5. The people paying 30-40 bucks per magazine and having to wait about a year are the people who care. If people didn't care, they wouldn't be posting stuff on these message boards. Between delays and lack of information and having to send improperly slabbed things back and people getting different things back than what they sent in, there are plenty of issues they need to own up to directly and clearly. It's absolutely not hard to have decent customer service and quality control if you really, genuinely care about your customers. If CGC was playing its cards right and not just focused on money, they'd practically have zero competition.
  6. They've had 3 of my submissions (of 20 magazines each) since May '22. It's best to just assume that it's going to take a year, unfortunately. At first they were blaming employee shortages, now they're saying supply issues. Maybe it's both, maybe it's neither. I haven't had great luck getting a straight answer from anyone. The wait wouldn't be so bad if they'd just immediately own their issues and be straight about mess. edit: they really change "the S word" to "mess" automatically? Jesus.
  7. I have a few things from Japan I'd like to get graded, but they do the whole "right to left" thing, so what would be our back cover is their front cover. I don't want to assume anything - so will the graders know to face these issues correctly?
  8. Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I didn't see anything for just magazines and I wasn't sure if this would go in the "comics magazines" section. I just got my 20 item order back. Most of them seem fine, except for like 5 slabs that won't close on the sides from 70's Playboy issues. I get that they're super thick and for some reason there aren't thicker slabs - but shouldn't they just have rejected them? And regarding the one with the random plastic peg-looking thing - should that be sent back for a reholder? What do you guys think - if you were to buy a thick, slabbed magazine and the slab was a little open on the sides, is that a significant issue, or something to be expected???
  9. Not that I'm complaining, but I didn't pay for any sort of expedited service. I've sent in 6 different shipments since May, and they're all still in scheduled status, but one of the last 2 I sent in recently was apparently just shipped to me, according to the status. What happened? Are my other shipments still waiting to be graded? edit: submission #4118295
  10. I thought I saw something about CGC not opening comics/magazines still sealed in their original bags. I'm pretty sure I have one or two in one of my waiting orders. Is there anything I can do to prevent them from being shipped back to me and me having to resubmit them? I'm not sure which order they'd be in, and I have 6 orders currently waiting.
  11. I just went to check on my submissions to see if there have been any updates, and it says that I have no submissions in the past 8 months. I have 6 different orders within the past 8 months, all of which showed up a day or two ago. Is there a bug or did something go very wrong?
  12. Are the return shipping fees charged at the same time as the processing charge or is that a separate transaction?
  13. Just curious - if I were to get the top tier this week, and send in books this week that won't be returned until February or March of next year (200+ working day turnaround time), but I don't renew my membership after December - will I still get my credits and 10% off grading? I have a hundred or so books I want to get graded this year, but I'm not sure if I'll have any to submit next year, so I may not need a paid membership when renewal time comes around.
  14. I've been emailing for almost 2 weeks now with no reply. I've also been calling, but whether I call accounting directly or get transferred, I hear terrible hold music for 5 or 10 minutes, then it tells me to leave a message. I've done that, and no calls back. It's impossible to reach the accounting department there. I am shocked at how much more terrible this whole thing has gotten. What the hell is going on over there?
  15. Annnnd they just charged my card another $52. This whole thing is garbage.
  16. Update: They just emailed me and said it could take up to 79 business days. I'm trying super hard to stay calm about it at this point. No apologies, no credit offers, no nothing. Just complete shxt service. By the time all is said and done, they might have this thing for about 14 months total, and that's if it isn't late this time, and that's IF it's not damaged again. Whoever runs the customer service department needs to get booted out on his as$.
  17. I actually just got my confirmation email from them a few hours ago. The status is "scheduled for grading," so I'm kind of thinking it's going to be a while before I get this back. I'm going to have to get a hold of them tomorrow to see if they can expedite it.
  18. So... maybe the problem was that they tried to stuff a magazine into a comic slab? I dunno, it's been mentioned that the bigger slabs are simply more prone to breaking. I guess either way I'll see what I get once I get it back.
  19. No, you're right. That's a good perspective. I think I'm just a little hyped because the bills are coming due and for some reason this book is worth a hell of a lot more than I paid for it.
  20. Well, I emailed them early Monday morning through the form. They asked me for pictures, which I sent immediately. Heard nothing. Called them yesterday and could barely hear the woman because of the kids and pets making so much noise. Then she told me that magazine holders weren't supposed to close on the sides. I told her that yes, they are supposed to, and the issue here is the top part is broken, not the sides. She said they'd look into it. Still nothing today.
  21. CGC had this in their possession for over 9 months. I got it in the mail today, and it looks like it was never even sealed. It doesn't appear to be able to be snapped closed. See attached photos. I don't even know what to do now. I can't get a hold of anybody there. As busy as they seem to be, you'd think they'd be a 24/7 operation. Am I going to have to pay to ship this back to them again? Am I going to have to pay for grading again? Am I going to have to wait 9 months again? Everybody seems to use CGC so I figured they were good, but this is ridiculous. I was hoping to unload this damn thing on my store before Christmas when my volume is highest, but I guess that's not happening. Has anyone been through this before? Is CGC good about fixing their mistakes, or am I screwed? What should I do from here?
