Those building numbers were always on my mind whenever I saw the cover. I knew the issue revolved around Center City in California but I never believed Jack Kirby would randomly select 135 & 137 without having a reason. Hundreds of numbers to choose from.... why those two? I remember looking up where he was born, 147 Essex Street, and that took care of that... at least for a while. Until I saw the the Milestone Edition, without building numbers, a few weeks ago at the LCS and it started up again. This time with success. Just had to look for the best image of FF #1 so the building numbers showed up clearly for the thread. I did a refresh on Yancy Street. According to The Marvel Comics Guide to New York City, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby named Yancy Street in reference to Delancey Street. I mapped it and saw Suffolk Street ran parallel to Essex Street and intersected Delancey Street. I Couldn't find an old picture of Suffolk Street but found one of Essex. Circa 1905. Twelve years before Jack was born. Along with a great article from Kirby's Mean Streets The Lower East Side of Jacob Kurtzberg. I'd bet my bottom dollar that cover is a hat tip to Suffolk Street, and to a fellow gang member who resided in 135/137... and even Stan the Man didn't know.

No, I'm not working with that Dylan guy. Never even heard of him. I was looking for the best copy of FF #1 and ran across the auction. Sorry if it appeared that way. -

Case is fine, Earth. It was one of them replying to the title for a future scenario. Great book. -

Charlton Comics Group Appreciation and Information Thread
Vibranium replied to com1cbook's topic in Comics General
The store was a front. He referenced his Charlton collection to build a time machine in an adjoining room. It's not just a question of where he is... but when he is. -

I submitted a bunch of 1950's last year to SGC. Mostly Mantle, Aaron, Mays, Clemente and Banks. Their inconsistency makes CGC and PSA graders look like grading gods. I wouldn't let SGC grade a 5th-grader's spelling test. I sold a 1953 SGC 1.5 Mantle for $1,950 afterwards when the market was still relatively hot. It appears that the 1952 12.6M sale is already having an effect on the 1953 asking prices. I know it's apples and oranges, but I find it interesting that most 1.5 cards look much better than most complete 1.5 comics.

If they ever make a crossover with Thanos resurrecting, they better give him a few more Infinity Stones
