  1. Those building numbers were always on my mind whenever I saw the cover. I knew the issue revolved around Center City in California but I never believed Jack Kirby would randomly select 135 & 137 without having a reason. Hundreds of numbers to choose from.... why those two? I remember looking up where he was born, 147 Essex Street, and that took care of that... at least for a while. Until I saw the the Milestone Edition, without building numbers, a few weeks ago at the LCS and it started up again. This time with success. Just had to look for the best image of FF #1 so the building numbers showed up clearly for the thread. I did a refresh on Yancy Street. According to The Marvel Comics Guide to New York City, Stan Lee and Jack Kirby named Yancy Street in reference to Delancey Street. I mapped it and saw Suffolk Street ran parallel to Essex Street and intersected Delancey Street. I Couldn't find an old picture of Suffolk Street but found one of Essex. Circa 1905. Twelve years before Jack was born. Along with a great article from Kirby's Mean Streets The Lower East Side of Jacob Kurtzberg. I'd bet my bottom dollar that cover is a hat tip to Suffolk Street, and to a fellow gang member who resided in 135/137... and even Stan the Man didn't know.
  2. No, I'm not working with that Dylan guy. Never even heard of him. I was looking for the best copy of FF #1 and ran across the auction. Sorry if it appeared that way.
  3. https://www.ebay.com/itm/225159776868?hash=item346c918a64:g:8LIAAOSwcmBilUuX&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAsBvQFXQHnVldrDtXtH%2BwSv30PLjlLi4C1GlvA5asXwvZTUTHmDkpJTWeSWHhG2y9DrH8BHJK%2BWicQeFIAxVp2dg6p%2BZX0y3MuvQUHjwjUIM%2BXA6qYEh1lG8A0vQG%2FVomlZqBPs0QJdzPEwa4HujtenI63nl603hEwfR45rlAPxjklpIErRHIZMfAL8QyWjP0JbD%2FFnCCO%2BJQWCaGpJkX%2BppBA%2F8c0vNVZubEF%2FYwopMg|tkp%3ABk9SR9Cf-ofpYA
  4. What's it going to sell for? No guesses after noon Sunday. Winner gets a free 1 year subscription to No-Prize Magazine. No winning the auction just to win the subscription.
  5. Case is fine, Earth. It was one of them replying to the title for a future scenario. Great book.
  6. The store was a front. He referenced his Charlton collection to build a time machine in an adjoining room. It's not just a question of where he is... but when he is.
  7. Stopped in to browse the graphic novels. Three long rows are now an entire room that wouldn't fit in the picture. Read them all and went home.
  8. Same here. But I would if I had one of these.
  9. I submitted a bunch of 1950's last year to SGC. Mostly Mantle, Aaron, Mays, Clemente and Banks. Their inconsistency makes CGC and PSA graders look like grading gods. I wouldn't let SGC grade a 5th-grader's spelling test. I sold a 1953 SGC 1.5 Mantle for $1,950 afterwards when the market was still relatively hot. It appears that the 1952 12.6M sale is already having an effect on the 1953 asking prices. I know it's apples and oranges, but I find it interesting that most 1.5 cards look much better than most complete 1.5 comics.
  10. If they ever make a crossover with Thanos resurrecting, they better give him a few more Infinity Stones
  11. Will have to reset the point system but I imagine easier than ties. Great contest.
  12. Not in but throw in a couple of X.5's if you have them. 1/2 grade off = 4 points. Should decrease the number of ties.
  13. The Nobel Peace Prize winner will be announced in October, 2022. You're a shoo-in for the Noble Page Prize.
  14. So many great covers. DD was my favorite growing up... and that terrific title.
  15. Please submit what was sold, your financial institutions name, username, password and last 4 digits of your social so CGC can grade the transaction.
  16. Doesn't matter how good or what it is. Anything will do.
  17. I'd send in a bunch of early Batman/Detective if they created a Bob Kane label
  18. Odda... I understand your concern. There is quite a difference in value between a 9.6 and 9.8. Since you can't see the flaw(s) I'm sure you would like to know what it is. It would most likely be only one line in the grader notes compared to three and more for lower grades.
  19. Thesink... Great ideas with a modification. They should use a new label color since yellow is for signed. A tribute label with the proceeds going to GP as you said. Shouldn't cost much for only a different color. Give those who sent in comics the option of having them graded and getting the new label.
