  1. Noticing breath taking price strength still in high grade key slabs even in the face of recent stock market and crypto correction. 2. How big of a difference is the 8.5 presentation vs. the 6.5 in the latest gen slab? Are you putting a slabbed run together?
  3. Great point. I tried Star Wars 1. Just some quick math as there are different ways you can plug the #s i.e. taking a mean average etc. But I'll just pull the highs. 9.8 on 12 sales in 2005, high was $485 9.8 on 47 sales in 2021, high was $8460 That's a multiple of 17.4X 8.5 on 9 sales in 2005, high was $51 8.5 on 82 salles in 2021 high was $676 That's a multiple of 13.25
  4. Good sharing on this data. I'm going to run similar # time period comparisons for SW1, some other not-so blockbuster keys and DC slabs as well.
  5. Nice pickups Just a friendly heads up; I have a Wells Fargo and Citi card(s) that pays unlimited 2% cash back, so sometimes if I'm in a pinch because of timing of the month but can't miss out some auction slabs, I just use the card and the vig is then only 1%.
  6. Do you have any Valiant pre unity SS 9.8s?
  7. Yes cards!!!!!! I collected both sports/nonsports. I was able to not only get wholesale prices but a discount on top of that because of the family friend. I would work really hard to save up $$ and then it would be Xmas time ripping through a box. Those were awesome times. To this day I still have tons of cards. Did you by chance collect any of the Topps stickers? I remember creating a list of missing stickers I needed in order to complete the book and then mailing that along with payment to Italy!!!
  8. Good question and additionally, quick napkin math; a $1.8M valuation is already a approximate 29% premium vs. cost basis. I realize the slab was purchased 6 months ago but does that seem reasonable? I suppose we will find out what the market thinks when the shares start trading. But if they are able to fill this offering what happens to that premium capture? Just gets allocated to new acquisitions? **Actually I just realized that might be the valuation the buyer from September established in order to sell the stake off.
  9. No guts no glory. Please continue to update the thread on your experiences; in particular when it starts trading. Thanks!
  10. Interesting. So there is a path to get in and out depending on your position size of course as others alluded to as well; this is not as bad as getting into a nontraded REIT or dark OTC asset or private investment etc. where it's basically a sunken cost and you are depending on distributions. One of the few copies of Batman #1 graded above #BATMAN sold for $2.2M in January 2021...... I pulled the above off the Rally site; I believe this is in reference to the 9.4. Are they trying to pump people up or something? There is a world of difference from a 9.4 vs. and 8.0; actually two entirely different planets as far as BATs 1 goes. It appears Rally is offering the Larson 8.0 ((which just sold September 2021 for $1.47M)) @ a $1.8M market cap. My two questions are, is Rally the one that made that purchase in September or did they just acquire this BATs now and you would be getting in closer to their cost basis @ that $1.8M valuation? Based on your experience, any guess as to when this starts trading?
  11. I will say this; some of the BAT keys are participating in this rally. Take 1st appearance Tim Fox #313 slabbed 9.8. In 2019, fetched $65 and in 2020, sold for $75. Last year 5 sales; low of $1799 and high of $2163 (which was last sale) That's a multiple of 29X vs. 2020.
  12. Interesting. I didn't think of it until you just mentioned but the location I went to in the 70s/80s is still there present day as well. The anticipation of the new issues coming out was really something great. Couldn't wait to bust through the door and get in there. I also bought Topps football/baseball sticker packs there too. That was a big deal. I was very lucky in the 70s/early 80s because some of my immediate family members ran a grocery store that resided right next to wholesale distributor locations. So you could walk in there and purchase full sealed boxes of any sports and nonsports cards you can imagine. They had candy galore. And one of the owners was a friend of the family so he would randomly hook me up with tons of comics that were ultimately going to be destroyed. Later on this changed and he would have to rip off the covers but it was still great!
  13. Exactly. This is how you effectively create your own little CL GPA database.
  14. Some folks are really getting excited about the movie. There were two very recent sales on eBay; one BIN actually higher. Also worth noting there is an identical 2nd print of this issue, so definitely have to read the label. 15. Thank you for taking the temptation away! This is an incredible slab and my favorite all-time Punisher issue. Congrats
  16. As a kid, it was pretty unbeatable walking into a 7-Eleven, getting one of these and heading to the comic rack. Amazing times.
