  1. If an incomplete golden age comic is missing the cover and center-fold but has a replica cover and centerfold, along with restoration such as spine split seals, piece fill, and staples replaced, then will it be considered a NG or Restored ... or is it possible to request a blue 0.5 grade?
  2. Recent grades have definitely been whacky and the lack of graders notes on even 9.0 books makes it hard to figure out why books were dinged. I’d say 30 percent of my recentmy graded books have come back lower than we could expect in past years, 10 percent have come in higher than makes sense and the remaining 60% have been accurate.
  3. I think in those cases they are using peroxide. This is more “natural” since it’s just the blue spectrum of light. If you actually leave slabs for years under normal LED lights at home or at a store the cover colors all fade over time.
  4. This is the result of 12 hours of blue light on a Kazar comic. I saw zero change from 9 am to 4pm then this subtle change from 4pm to 9pm. And then you have to spend 12 hours on each set of 2 pages. Was fun as a test but not scalable. Also since I had to lay it fully open I feel I had a chance to intro some issues into the spine. This was light only (no chemicals).
  5. How does CGC handle books that have been purposefully "whitened" using blue light? The lights can both wash out colors but also whiten yellowed pages without adding anything to the book. Is it considered restoration or is it similar to using an eraser to remove dirt ?
  6. Hi all, I received 10 comics back and 5 of the cases had mech errors which included scuff marks, scratches and white specs between the outer and inner plastic wells. i.e. 50% had issues. I found the grading was way harder than what I am used to seeing and my lowest grade which was a 9.0 had no graders notes at all, looked better than some of the 9.4s, and may have received a 9.0 since there seems to be a cardboard spec on the back cover which was never there when I sent in the books after a clean and press. CGC has kindly agreed to fix any mech errors, but I am not sure how to handle that 9.0 which had no graders notes.
  7. With the cost of everything increasing and stocks (especially tech) going down substantially, how are you modifying your comic book investing?
