  1. Ultimate Fallout 4 CGC 9.8 just went for $2500. It took ages for Miles comics to come down
  2. Miles Morales: Ultimate Spiderman 1 Staples Variant 9.8 just sold for $7100 on comiclink
  3. They most certainly are. There are sizeable collecting communities in the UK and Australia. I've seen the Australian market pick up significantly since MCU movies became the norm. I've seen lots of Italian, French, Mexican and German sellers as well. I'm in Australia, so if I'm using gocollect's free service and seeing where all of the copies of a book are on ebay (all over the world), there will be plenty of sellers who don't ship internationally. I just send them a message saying "hey, would you consider posting to Australia if I pay all costs?". Sometimes they will change their postage and you get what you want for a really good price (even with postage costs). If you're in the US, I would contact international sellers who aren't shipping international. I sometimes find books that are stupidly cheap (like 50-80% down on what you would pay in the US), strictly because they want to offload them quickly in a local market. As soon as you educate some sellers on how easy it is to ship internationally either directly or through the global shipping program, you can get some serious deals done. I would also look at overseas LCS's as well. They're super helpful and want to reduce postage costs as much as possible. Weirdly enough, UK LCS's provide very cheap postage. If you're a seller, I would definitely be allowing international postage if you're on ebay. You'd be surprised how much money international collectors want to spend.
  4. This is the case with collecting in any industry at the moment. Weirdly enough, UK comic stores and UK ebay sellers are some of the gold mines I've found over the past year. I understand no one wants to pay for postage but I've found prices to be so much cheaper than a lot of US sellers that it makes sense. I've found tons of US sellers and stores don't ship internationally which makes me think people from the US might not be looking outside of their back yard. The MCU makes more money from international markets which will drive international comic sales. Get out there and select 'worldwide' on ebay and see what happens.
  5. Got this in the mail this week for about 1/3 market rate. Is a NM copy. Cant believe it.
  6. Trying not to cherry pick too much but I've noticed a weird trend recently of new CGC slabs with smudges on the front and back cover. I've seen 3 in the last month on Ebay and asked the owners if the book itself was damaged. The close up pictures show clear stains / smudges in the inside of the slabs that can't be removed unless you crack them. My god would you be pissed if you got a 9.8 and the smudge made it unsellable.
  7. Yeah definitely. Can't believe raw copies are going for such a premium though
  8. Spider-verse #6 raw copy just went for $362. Others going for $250. More auctions up now going for big $$. I bought a copy for $50 a month ago and there seemed like little interest. There's no new movie or series coming out that I'm aware of. A CGC 9.8 is at $900 with 3 days left on the auction. Will probably go for $1500 if I guessed. Anything happened recently to justify this pump?
  9. Maybe but I think it depends on what role she plays in the movie.
  10. Low print run, low inventory of 9.8's and it's a popular spec book. Kind if like Strange Academy 1 but not nearly as good (in terms of spec potential). What was interesting was that this was an auction, so there's obvious interest there.
  11. Spider-verse #6 CGC 9.8 just sold for $1125. The last 9.8 sold for $37 in 2020
  12. Spider-men #1 slabs seem to be selling like hot cakes on ebay.
  13. That's true. I think speculators are driving this rise too. But kids who grew up watching Miles and reading his comics most probably will want a slice of his history when they're 30-40 and have cash to blow. If you can find a 9.6 for a good price, why not invest if you have conviction? There's plenty of big fluctuations on auctions for 9.6s at the moment. Our views of things are coloured by who we talk to but I'd be interested to see who young people actually see as Spider-man (outside our circle of friends and family). I'm making assumptions based on small sample sizes.
  14. I'm sure there's plenty of people who think few characters can come close to Venom's popularity but I think Miles is already more popular. He's just being noticed by a younger audience. The PS5 game, the movies and the multiple successful comic series are testament to his acceptance as a quality character. They've used that acceptance by the community to make him a huge marvel property. So many Deadpool and Venom fans are middle-aged now. Miles is THE character to follow and if you're investing for the long term, you don't invest in things that are popular now, you invest in things that young people love now and buy when they have more income. So many of my nieces and nephews are around the 10-15 year range and they prefer Miles to Peter. I don't argue with that. I use that to my advantage. This is all my opinion from the investment side (not collecting) but wanted to share a viewpoint on why I think Miles will be a nice investment for the next 10 years +. I think opportunity is staring us in the face and we're hesitating because of things we liked when we were younger. One very extreme but easy to use example is Tesla. Since it's inception, it's shares have been overpriced based on it's profit and production. Many, many people have tried to short it purely based on the fact that it's a 'cult and overpriced' and lost. What they didn't realise is what younger demographics thought of Elon. His perception as a Tony Stark like public persona pulled more and more people to buy the shares, no matter the logic thrown at it. This is kind of like Miles at the moment. People are speculating hard on him because they know what he ultimately can become...and it's not a Peter Parker clone.
  15. I swear I've seen 10-15 variants so far. Kinda silly.
  16. Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man #1 Staples Variant CGC 9.6 just went for $4,850
  17. Oh yeah I agree. Prices are high because of our bias. It was so cheap to buy these books 2 years ago so we're all naturally going to be hesitant. If Miles is this important though, I don't think these prices are nearly high enough. Just a question of conviction imo.
  18. Probably because there's more graded copies. It's incredibly easy to find tons of well graded copies of both books. I'm genuinely fascinated why people are so hesitant to get on the Miles train. It's fairly clear that he's the biggest property in marvel outside of Peter Parker. Prices are high because people have realised this and have conviction paying those prices. If you don't like the character, that makes sense to not want his comics. If you do like him though, why not at least get some exposure?
  19. Hi, I've been mulling over the better investment decision for important modern keys. As an example I have two Miles Morales keys that I'm interested in - 1. Ultimate Comics All New Spiderman 1 (Cover A) CGC 9.8 - approx $1100 2. Ultimate Comics All New Spiderman 1 (1:15 Pichelli unmasked variant) CGC 9.6 - approx $1100 Basically there's a trade off with grades and rarity (CGC census is 3355 for Cover A in all grades and the Variant is 468 in all grades). I'm interested to see what book would you choose for a long term investment and why? Thanks, James
  20. I'm interested to see, from your point of view, where the growth will be with Miles comics. By far the biggest growth in the past 6-12 months has come from his issue 1 comics, their variants, newsstands and other keys. UF4 has been stagnant for quite a while (which is normal after such a rise). Would you rather still invest in UF4 while it's taking a breather or go after his low print run variants that are considered 'ghosts' or 'very hard to find'?
  21. The standard edition or a variant? It'll be interesting to see if UF4 values are already priced-in or if they get a boost from a live-action entry into the MCU.
  22. The low print run Miles keys are going for staggering amount over the last few weeks. Any thought of things slowing down after the war in Ukraine / inflation don't seem to be affecting Miles books.
