  1. Hello old friends I have been out of the collecting game for the last year or two, but still have many of my best books. I have been wondering about the value of my Gobbledygook books. I have a very nice set, which was purchased from a board member, who purchased it directly from Eastman's collection. Everything is documented, so the history of the books is well established. Both books are signed and sketched inside the front cover by Eastman and Laird. Any idea what these things are worth these days? If for no other reason, I would like to know for insurance reasons. Thanks!
  2. If anyone has their eye on a #1 2nd print I have a raw 9.8 Laird copy I'm going to be putting up for sale. Rather let someone hanging out in here get their hands on it first
  3. Love the Splinter. Your collection gets more and more awesome man. Congrats
  4. BTW if anyone else is interested in TMNT books I am going to be putting a bunch of sweet ones up for sale soon. They are all from the collection of Peter Laird and all slabbed. Mirage let me kind of hand pick through their offerings, so these are some of the best from his collection. They will range from some pretty inexpensive stuff, to some pretty high end stuff. PM me if you want more details.
  5. (thumbs u no plans on letting go of this book, but if I ever do have a change of heart you will be the first to hear about it.
  6. Been awhile sense I posted any new books. Here is a #4 manu error in 9.8. The only one and straight from the collection of Peter Laird
  7. Very, very nice Adam! That book is a PITA is to find in high grade! Took me awhile to get my 9.6!
  8. Not totally crazy about the artwork, but it sounds like some good passionate work is coming. Plus....RED BANDANAS!
  9. Keep in mind that Gobbledygook has no paperwork. Makes the book a hard sell in my mind. I would expect to buy it at a significant discount from a documented copy...if I was to buy an undocumented copy.
  10. I think its mostly more supply and less hype right now. People are not talking about the movie at the moment and the mirage sale has gone through. Also, I don't believe it helps that a lot of "lesser" copies seem to had gone up for sale for awhile. Off-white pages and stuff like that. Turtle collectors generally are picky about the books and superior copies tend to sell for a premium. If you look at GPA for the HG books they have shown softer sales, but the mid grades and been firm. Those books are less affected by increase in supply and people generally pay smaller premiums for page quality, are less picky about if they are signed, etc. Long term TMNT I still believe is one of the best comic investments out there. Even with some books coming out of the woodwork, the census is relatively small for books historical significance and popularity.
  11. You bet I am! I had the exact opposite reaction in the final moments. I wasn't going to budge, but, then, I did. Hah! Will definitely be something I cherish for a long time. Ever since '07, when I first learned of the elusive Turtlemania Specials, I have been, for lack of a better term, obsessed with collecting this book, much to the chagrin of my TMNT series collecting side. Even though my wallet doesn't share the same proclivities. In that case, it sounds like this really went to the right person.
  12. Wonder what the odds are the buyer is going to drop it on C-link and make a quick 5 grand profit?
  13. Nice pickup. I was going to go after those covers but decided not to at the last minute. I say frame it up on the wall and enjoy
