Also, say what you may about the Donnellys, but I have never questioned their love of comics and comic art. They are hardcore fans and ultimately collectors at their cores.

Thanks for sharing this (I don't always check my Instagram)

So I'm at the GraphicCollectibles booth in Comic-Con one year, and Mitch has a John Byrne Legends Cover for sale. It's like $1,000. I love Byrne, he's one of the 3 guys I consider myself to "collect" and I really only mostly had panel pages from him. I gladly fork over the cash.
Fast-forward a few short months. I'm not crazy about the way the heads on the cover aren't fully rendered, but rather ghostlike outlines, and hey, I'm more of a Marvel guy anyway. Something else comes up I want, so I put the Byrne cover on eBay.... $2,000 bucks!! Cha-CHING!!
Great flip, right? WRONG.
Turns out the cover was the cover to Legends #3, which is the first appearance of Suicide Squad. Sure enough a couple years later they announce they're doing a movie on that team and... well, let's just say win some, lose some. In this case on the same deal.

I suspect it’s Jim and not John wanting the price to be quiet. What’s John supposed to do in that case?
Or the buyer.... who may want more Jim Lee art in the future.

Heads-up, Will: the above links aren't clickable...

Torpedo? I thought Jim had an art rep....

The Frazatta is on animation paper, so likely drawn for Fire and Ice, which was a Frazetta collaboration.
There are some pieces from Fire and Ice in the HA results, though many are listed as "attributed" as there were numerous animators who worked on the film.

Just send them a check then. They take checks.

The whole "Price Discovery" thing seems to be mainly a Comic Art thing, no? I don't follow too many other collectibles, but on the occasions where I have taken a peek (Illustration, Cards, Coins) it seems like people don't put in early bids (I'm talking 3 weeks early early). Can anyone else weigh in?

Nice to see Frenz getting some love. Never a superstar, but he always always drew comics I enjoyed reading.

I understand that the seller created the original asking price.
The reputation of the auction house and its appraisers does get a ding in my opinion for allowing consignments like this to happen. Someone somewhere along the line ought to tell the seller to take that behavior to eBay.I know of cases where both HA and CLink have rejected consignments because of the (in their opinion) unrealistic valuations/parameters the sellers were attempting to put in place.

The lack of characters is a big negative.
The storyline is a big positive.
I think the sig and doodle are cool as well. Normally I don't think they matter, but in this case they help, and could make it desirable as a "one-and-done" page for the numerous collectors who want a representative piece.
I say put it in HA or CLink.

1) checked it out on CAF and yeah, Gene's is better (although I don't think that changes the price for this one)
Gene's is Best page in the book IMO.
Sure, the page before is an iconic half splash that is used for the cover scene, but Gene's has zero weak panels, a great front shot of Wolverine, and a shot of Wolverine using his claws. Oh, and it's got the "snikt" for those who care about that.
The page at auction is great, but it's a class below these two:

The only trash art I have in my collection is...stuff I worked on. I didn't have to pay money for it, and it's not worth enough to bother selling. So I own some real dogs.
On average, how many pages per month do you ink? And how many years exactly have you been inking for?

@Nexus the podcast mentions a show-and-tell.... is it up yet?
