  1. Honestly, fanfourforever isn't just being stubborn here....

Go back a few months in various threads that he has posted in and you'll see what I mean. Not only do you seem to hate life, but comics and other comic collectors as well. Why even post here if every single topic that comes up brings out negative opinions, insults, etc. It's either an inferiority complex or you're just a jerk! Either way, this hobby is supposed to be fun so lighten up. This forum is great for learning from other collectors. Bosco obviously has the top knowledge around here when it comes to Crow #1. Not just by how many copies he owns, but based on how long he's simply watched the market.

I'd hate to judge you through the forum as I'm sure some people here can come off like a jerk but be completely nice in person. So if I'm way off let me know.

  2. Comicdoc, I was wondering who bought up all those cover recreations!!! I just love the way those look. Great way to get an amazing looking grail affordable!!! Did Matt Nelson do those ones? He does them so seamlessly. The final press it gets makes it seem so original in a lot of ways. Kind of brings it all together!

I REALLY need a scanner soon! I feel so left out and I've scored a lot of awesome mid-grade early X-mens for my run. I think since I started the run a month or two ago, I've aquired my grail, #1, plus 14 other books. It's been so much fun. What's cool is I've been using local shops mostly. Outer limits in Waltham has especially had some deals. I got a X-men #22 around a 5.5 or so for $28! Not sure of the OSPG or GPA, but I felt like I got an awesome deal for a book with great colors and awesome page quality!

  3. That's a print by the famous monsters artist Basil Gogos. In the horror world he is like the Jack Kirby!

I wish it was original. I think he told me he sells original sketches like this for 3 grand!!! Would love to get one but that's a lot of dough for an hour sketch he has done a million times lol His original paintings sell for A LOT of money. Rob Zombie collects them and you never see them on ebay.

I am putting together a book of my 40 or so autographed photos. This is one that's just too big so figured it would look great framed!

  4. Sorry if the pictures are huge. I still haven't mastered our new camera. This is lovinthesurfer and my collection area. We have a lot of things we could of put up but kept it sparse and uncluttered. The display case has some random things in there for now until I stock it with some really cool stuff. My shelf is the bottom, her's is on top. Also included a picture of our small collection closet. Thanks for looking!

  5. Finally got home to check it out!! I love it. For a poor mans copy it's really cool! Restored 4.0 or so. I think that apparent grade is fairly accurate. You can see the resto on it but just sitting in a mylar it looks great..at least I think so lol

So now I feel like my 1-66 run officially begins. I'll upgrade this eventually but I like this a lot so I'm in no rush.

Sorry for the crappy picture. No scanner at the moment.

  6. My X-men #1 is coming today!!!!! I made my girlfriend wake up earlier this morning on her day off so she could be there to sign for it. Our floor of the house is the entire upstairs so we'd never hear the Fed Ex guy show up. So she's sleeping on the living room couch to wait for them lol

Can't wait to add this one to the run!

  7. I love seeing everyones comic room! Our comic room is all finished up and we just bought a new camera..So when I get home from work tonight I'll post pictures. Good mix of both our focus areas. We had tons of stuff to frame and nail to the wall but only picked our choice pieces like original art, the larger autographs and prints, animation cels, etc etc.

  8. Now that I'm looking around, I think for the most part, these books would be so low that most people wouldn't even list them for sale because it's not worth it in the .5-1.0 range .

Making a thread about it would actually help though and basically I would have to use the resources here to see what people can pull out for me.

    That'll be fun!

  9. Ya I just think it would be so much fun to see how affordable I can do an ASM 1-100 run. Maybe even document the entire thing to show collectors on a budget that it can be done. #1 would obviously be most expensive but i'd probably buy a coverless copy and have Matt Nelson add a cover and press it.

I wouldn't just get beaters for the very early issues, I would do it for every single one within that run lol Just to go as cheap cheap cheap as possible.

  10. 1-66 is actually the original X-men stories. 67-93 were all reprints of those issues. Sales were bad and they stopped producing new X-mens for I think 5 years??? Then of course Giant size X-men #1 came out and we had the new X-men and then they restarted with issue 94.

I actually might even do the reprints after I go for 94-200 or so.

I do want 1-200 eventually but 1-66 is most important to me and my original goal.

Chris Claremont's era IS my favorite storylines though so that will be fun and a lot cheaper. I will probably have to go for NM on everything in that run.

Make sense or am I rambling??

    lol
