  1. TMNT are a huge part of my childhood. This is a grail for me! Going to be looking for a 7.0 or so in 2010! I wonder what price I should expect to pay for one???
  2. In bad lighting it looked like it
  3. Thank you very much!! I showed up at my parents house yesterday to check out my collection as it's not where I live right now. I had not really looked at the Chew #1 9.8 since I got it. I took it out of it's bag and checked it out. On the back I was startled to see water damage. I only had a minute so I put it back and left. Anyway driving back I realized what a tool I am! It's part of the artwork! I was wondering how this damage could of occured and figured it out. I feel like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person but wanted to share the story anyway!
  4. Can anyone post a picture of the Chew #1 backcover. I am not near my collection for a few days and have a question about it after I see it! thanks! Dan
  5. I agree! Those cases are like 60$. When I eventually get a comic room going I'm getting a couple for Bowen statues
  6. That sucks!! I'm sure you'll find another though.
  7. I paid 110$ for my 9.8 with a free second print added. This book will probably never nose dive right? I really hate speculating with modern comics these days. First time I've done it in a while. The next time it will be with a Walking Dead #1 though I feel really good about that one as it's so established.
  8. I love this thread!! Anyone know what would be a reasonable price to pay for a Batman #1 coverless?
  9. I have a lot of respect for a guy who rocks a beard! It's so much more of a man's natural state. I tried to explain this to my girlfriend but she told me that if I don't shave my face, she won't shave her armpits haha. I think I'll listen to the woman as always...though I should just test her with it .
  10. Ya I heard that all the hype happened later. I had been out of my local shop for months before one of my brother's high school buddies I saw in the shop told me about it. Sometimes I feel so out of touch with finding new and good stuff to read so I usually ask local people I know for suggestions. This was one of them. When I searched around for it it had already sold out everywhere and I was too late. Finally got around to it and now it's a book of value already. Most of the time the comics I read are graphic novels of stuff made throughout the years that I find at bookstores. There's a few classics I still need to read. So new stuff isn't always on my list besides a few things. Chew reminds me that it's still good to keep my ear to the grindstone. I get so caught up in my back issue collection that I forget how much fun it is to anticipate new comic releases.
  11. I just got my 9.8 1st print #1 in the mail today along with a raw 2nd print. Happy to join the club and play a little catch up on reading. My opinion on the 10.0 going for that much??? I can understand a "number" selling for that much, especially if the person buying it is rich. I am more than happy to have my graded 9.8 now. I'm not even a huge modern fan unless something gets buzz about being a good reader...like walking dead, chew, etc. As far as spending a grand, i'd rather grab a silver age key.
  12. Awesome copies!!! In January or so I'll officially free up cash in hand for a 8.0 or better...might just have to pony up for 9.0. This is the most meaningful book I could ever own. Before the internet I never really saw too many copies because I was just a kid in the mid ninties and didn't really attend comic shows..so I always just so it listed in Overstreet. I want one bad though! Going to be a huge day for me when I score one!!!
  13. Hey guys. I'm leaving this forum with a smile on my face. I read all the posts about me in the marketplace and let me just say that I don't know you guys, so don't judge me. Darth. I am sorry the deal went sour. I refunded your money and all...no harm there. I never sold them for anymore money, I just sold them to the first person who wanted them. It slipped my mind that you wanted them. Please email me at ioncanon@aol.com and I will be sure to send you a package with some freebie star wars novels as i have some doubles.(if you want them). I think you people need to consider that when you delve into lives and seem to stalk people for their mistakes, you make them out to be something that they are not. One month ago I was more excited at getting back into comics than i ever thought I could be. Recently you people have showed me what greed and pride can do. You totally turned me off to the hobby in a months time. Just looking at all the flipping on ebay and complaining on this board is enough to make me want to vomit. If you want this back issue hobby to last and grow, you need to be more accepting of "NEWBIES." If you're going to have a harsh attitude towards be and attempt to publically make me look like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person on the boards, than I don't want any part of this community or this hobby. I sold those issues for 600$ for a downpayment on a Screen used Friday the 13th hockey mask for my prop collection and i'm glad i did so. I spent 800$ for that Hulk 181 outside of ebay even though i said I spent 600$ just so i wouldn't get crapped on for it. I wasn't aware that 800$ was too much at the time. Also, I spent 140$ on the Spidey 122 at the boston show and 50$ for the Wolverine 1-4. The X-Men 99 was free. So that's 990$ spent on my part and 600$ sold. I lost a lot of money on the deal but I sold them fast, gave a REALLY nice guy (David King) a good deal, and I got to send the payment to my prop friend fast. I also forgot to send David King the X-Men 99 so i am now sending it and throwing in 100 free Mylar 2's in the package from Bags Unlimited. I will also be truthful when I say that the Hulk 181 had a small crack in the right top corner that happened during shipping...So I will also be sending him money to compensate for the CGC fees. Everyone who tried to turn me into something i'm not and totally make me sick about this hobby can take their silver age precious 9.6 books and stick it up their you know whats. That CGC ship is going to crash and you cannibals are taking it down with you. As for me, i'm sticking with movie props, drinking beers, going to college, picking up chicks, and whatever. I do plan on buying trade paper backs because to me this hobby is now about reading. Thanks
