  1. Thanks for comments guys! (thumbs u Only one - 9/23/34. It has the panel that was used for the cover of Tip Top 47. That and three Raymond Flash Gordon Sundays is the extant of my newspaper strip collection. I'd like to get more, but they take up a lot of space. Jeff
  2. This run is still a work in progress (see my sig), but I've added to it quite a bit in the last couple of months so I thought I would go ahead do a preliminary group shot. Jeff
  3. Cool! I was just kind of scrolling down looking at the various pages, when I stopped on this one, thinking "ooh, that's kinda cool." Then I saw the signature. It's amazing how his work just always seems to stand out from his peers, even on the funny animal stuff. He seems to have gotten a lot of work just doing logo headers like this. Jeff He could just draw rocks and trees and I would be happy. No doubt!

  5. Time to get caught up here. I'd take: Supes 1 (though the Whiz would go great with the rest of my forgotten grails) AA 16 Tec 31 Jeff
  6. Just curious, how much do pulps w/ Conan stories in them tend to run? Depends on the issue and condition. The two I posted were in the $200-300 range. You can pick up lower grade copies for around $100. Certain covers, like some of the more risque Brundage covers or the Batgirl cover are pricey. Jeff
  7. Gorgeous copy Tupenny! The only Gnome I have so far is Tales of Conan, but I hope to pick up the others. I'd even like to pick up The Return of Conan even though it's all Nyberg (not even de Campinated Howard), just for the cool Wally Wood dust jacket. Jeff
  8. CONAN: RED NAILS ANIMATED FEATURE It is fair to say that I am a NUT for all things Robert E. Howard, Conan & BWS. I was looking forward to that Red Nails animated movie, but it seems like it's been stuck in production limbo forever. I think Conan has seen quite a revival in the last few years with the release of the Wandering Star unedited versions of the stories, the new Dark Horse comics, the possibilty of a new movie, and the Age of Conan video game. Conan hasn't been this visible in years. I'm also a big fan of REH and Conan, but like Blob said, I finished my comic and SSOC runs a long time ago. Recently, I have gotten interested in Conan again and picked up a couple of pulps. I'd like to get all the Weird Tales with Conan story covers and then start working on the Arkham House and Gnome books (I just got outbid on a sweet copy of Skull-Face and Others ). Here's my first two WTs:
  9. What a great book! It's easy to see how the mistake was made - Simon is clearly mimicking Fine's style here. Jeff
  10. Well, tie me up and make me tell the truth! That's an amazing run! Jeff
  11. parker will finish the publisher in no time! Like your Gators finished off my poor Noles last night. That was brutal. Jeff hopefully won tebow the heisman.... was fun to watch from my perspective, but noles will come back (hopefully later than sooner) rick It looks like he is gonna win it after last nights performance! My hats off to him - he's had a very impressive year. Jeff

  13. Cool! I've been waiting to see a group shot. Chesler has a number of innovative and unique covers - a very underrated publisher IMO. Jeff
  14. (Ready for the game tonight?.... I'm not. ) Jeff
  15. Very cool! Gotta love the "Well-Traveled Gorilla" Jeff
  16. Mark, great books! The Secret Agent X-9 FB is a gorgeous copy! Do you have the two Cupples and Leon style Secret Agent X-9 books from 1934? If not, you might want to add them to your want list - Dashiell Hammett and Alex Raymond. (thumbs u The Large Features are great books. I only have one, the Tarzan one, but that's a run I'd love to work on one day. I've seen a couple of different versions of these Popeye linen books on ebay over the last couple of years. I'm not sure what to make of them either or how scarce they are. IIRC, they are more like illustrated storybooks, right? I want to say I saw one that folded out accordian-style, but I mght be wrong. Jeff
  17. Nice! I would love to read some of the stories, especially the Paul ones. Gernsback does comics - how cool is that? Jeff
  18. What an awesome copy of a tough book! Do you have 1 and 3 as well? I was very tempted to take a stab at one the recent copies on Heritage, but I'm tapped - been on a bit of a spree lately. Jeff
  19. Wow! Gorgeous books!! Jeff I cocur i aree. all right guys and gals, don't pick on the LSU grads Yeah sorry Cap_FFreek, but that one made me spew coffee all over my keyboard. Jeff
  20. Is it just me or does the cowboy in the back look like an older Peter O'Toole? Or Marty Feldman.
  21. All great covers, especially the 38! Is there a hidden defect on the 39? That is a nice looking 2.0. Also, what is the resto on the 35, just out of curiosity? Jeff
  22. Awesome! I've been out in the woods all week digging holes so I'm just now getting caught up. Great Weird Tales pulps this week! I've just started working on the Conan covers myself, but they just don't come around in this kind of condition anymore - amazing as always! Jeff Which one is Conan? I remember him being a bit more manly in the Bronze Age.... He's in the story somewhere I'm pretty sure. Although Conan stories made the cover of WT on nine issues, Conan himself only appeared on three of them (see my av). Usually it was a naked girl in bondage being threatened/whipped/etc. by a evil sorcerer/evil femme fatale/cobras/etc. senza Conan. Sex sells. Jeff
