  1. The service at Mycomichop has always been top notch. I ordered a book from them on the 23rd, it shipped on the 24th, and was in my hands today.
  2. A full refund just popped up in my account today, so it looks like the saga is over.
  3. Glad to see I’m not alone (well, not really glad, hate that they are so bad). I called them back this morning, spoke to Mike, he said he’d have someone call me back to handle this. I asked him “how can I believe anyone will call me back? You guys don’t respond to e-mails and I was straight up lied to on Wednesday.” He said and I quote “I doubt you were intentionally lied to.” As if that makes a difference. Anyway he said he’d handle it and I’d hear back. Surprise surprise, I never heard back. Anyway, at this point I think I’ll just let my bank deal with it. Hopefully anyone thinking about buying from them Googles them and and finds this thread. There’s too many other good places to buy books from.
  4. I've bought books from Metropolis for years, and it seems like they just get slower and slower as time goes by. On September 19 I saw a few books on their site that would help fill a couple runs, so I bought about 10 books, knowing it would be a few weeks before they were shipped. I heard nothing from them until three weeks later October 10, when they e-mailed me to let me know they had all the books together but 1, and I could get a refund on that 1, wait, or get store credit. Since there was a couple more books I was going to grab (but was waiting until they actually sent my last order), I responded the same day and told them credit was OK. I never got a response to that e-mail, nor was anything shipped. So, on October 21, I e-mailed them again asking for a follow up. They didn't reply. So I called on the 23rd, spoke to someone and they promised me the books would be going out that day and I'd be e-mailed a tracking number. The day went by, no e-mail or tracking number, then nothing on the 24th either. Their slow shipping is already pretty bad, but ignoring e-mails and flat out lying to customers is outrageous. At this point I plan on just calling back and just demanding a full refund and then never dealing with them or Comic Connect again. Just posting this so anyone thinking of ordering from them is aware that, at least with me, they are having issues.
  5. Purchased two slabs from Joe on Friday, and they arrived cross country on Monday. Amazingly fast shipping. Would not hesitate to buy from him again.
  6. A great seller. Package got here super fast and the book was accurately described. Would glad do business with again.
  7. Got a book from Rick recently. It got here super fast and grading was right on. Great service over all.
  8. I did a search and found the Tawny strips, along with the full Captain Marvel here https://www.dailycartoonist.com/index.php/2019/03/10/never-was-comic-strips-captain-marvel-mr-tawny/ That's the Captain Marvel serial. It's pretty good and had a fairly high production value for its time.
  9. CC Beck did a week's worth of the strip to pitch it to newspapers, and even though it didn't get picked up, the strip has seen the light of day. I don't know if the Tawny one ever got this far.
  10. I was thinking about the Captain Marvel Radio Show that aired in the early 1940s recently, and how as time goes by it is less and less likely that we'll ever get any additional information on it. It's amazing that a radio show of the biggest selling super hero of the golden age is just completely gone. Especially when you consider some of the radio shows of lesser known characters that survived I know for example only one episode of the Black Hood's show has been found, but aside from Captain Marvel, is there any other media based on comic books during the golden age that is completely missing?
  11. There was a list for Palo Alto when they first went on sale. I may still have it somewhere. I'll look around.
  12. Went today. Needs work but it was cool. Biggest issue is there was no exhibit on the history of Comic Con. Like, how hard would that be to put up something artifacts from the con's history at the least.
  13. Most probably know, but I didn't, that the Comic-Con Museum is open in San Diego now. This is pretty cool but I was hoping to see more in the way of comic books. The Archie stuff looks great, but I couldn't tell from the video if there was mush in the way of older material there. I know the San Diego Comic-Con hasn't really been about comic books in awhile, but I still can't see how Pac Man fits. Still, I'm going to check this out this weekend. Are there any other decent comic museums in the western US? IDW had an art museum here in San Diego but I don't think it has been open in awhile.
