  1. Claiming almost $1M in debt with no assets to pay any of those creditors. Among creditors are the IRS, NC Department of Revenue, Distributors, and artist Ivan Tao. Pre-order books from Frankies at your own risk at this point. https://forum.comicsheatingup.net/t/we-all-hate-store-variants-but/2561/3428?u=drunkwooky
  2. I spoke with Greg, owner of Black Cat Comics today. He said that when Crain came through on his last road tour, it was just him and April. No husband from Black Flag. He also said Crain was markedly different from the last time he came through (2 years ago). More of a diva, more full of his own “celebrity.” I’m not sure where Clayton thinks this leads. Take away the variant covers and what’s he contributing in the hobby?
  3. I’ve been wondering about this for about a month and I guess now we know what “circumstances” are. I’m looking forward to the next time the wife and I have “circumstances.”
  4. “Sorry to be such a pu$$7.” This Black Flag guy has a flawed internal view of masculinity. Take it from Macho Man Randy Savage, “Macho Men can cry!”
  5. So two quick thoughts here: 1. this says that signed and witnessed acetate covers will get a Signature Series Qualified label with a grade that “will take into consideration the grade of the acetate cover as well as the interior book.” Then it goes on to state that a copy without Crain’s signature will receive a “qualified grade.” So basically, Signature Series books will grade higher and unsigned books will grade lower. So, this was a masterful corporate PR pivot to soft-sell the Signature Series and a future Crain in-house signing. 2. Apparently, future after-production covers will need to be pre-approved by CGC. I assume there was a little Marvel finger-wagging here and CGC’s pre-approval will in-turn also require Marvel’s pre-approval as the IP holder. In short, it’s exceedingly unlikely this will happen again in the future with a Marvel book.
  6. I can’t believe nobody’s post Liefeld’s seemingly unironic new acetate he has on offer…
  7. Yeah, CGC's out is the step in their process they outlined saying the acetate cover needs to be previously submitted to CGC and approved. Now that Marvel has made their stance clear, nothing will get past that step. At least it shouldn't. Well played, CGC. Well played.
  8. When he just starts wailing in Hendrix’s Band of Gypsies album, it just sets the tone for my whole day. What a cool cat!
  9. I think the word you’re looking for is “publicly traded and subject to SEC regulation and a duty of care to their shareholders.” Buy, yeah, the end result is similar. Still much better.
  10. I always get Buddy Guy and Buddy Miles mixed up. It’s ok, though, because either way I end up listening to something awesome. It just might not be what I expected.
  11. Yeah. When a bid is made, usually, it adds another 10 seconds to the clock. So, that definitely compounds the inflated prices. So, if you bid with 1 second left, 10 seconds are added and other buyers have 10 seconds to outbid you. There's a buy it now feature, but it is on a separate screen during the live feed and not as frequently used. Some people just let their live feed sit there with nothing going on for hours on end with buy it now listings available. I've heard those tactics are not terribly successful. If you have a bunch of sub-$10 back issues, it kind of begs the question why you don't just list them on ebay and wait however long it takes for a buyer to come along rather than tie up all your store's bandwidth with a live feed. It works for some things. If a book that was dollar bin last week spikes up to $50-100 because of this week's streaming episode, sure go live and auction it. As a seller, you'll do great provided you have a big enough following that you don't just get one guy low-ball bidding you. But for low dollar filler issues, what are we doing here?
  12. Yes. Instead of wanting a Meet the Skrulls #1, going to ebay, finding one, and buying it within 10 minutes, you tune in to one of many sellers going live at different times throughout the days and weeks, watch for hours on end, then click "bid" versus however many others are watching and pay probably 200%-500% what you should be paying in order to "win." I watched and bought some things a few times, but I honestly couldn't imagine paying attention for as long as people are selling. As a curiosity, just tuning in randomly to see what was being offered, It was kinda interesting. If you're looking for one thing in particular, though, it's not ideal.
