    I don't think so. I think it is a color breaking crease, a thumbnail crease. Without that flaw it may be an 8.5 .

    Same book. Before and after a spine realignment, with a press. Note the exaggerated fanning on the right. IMO, a telltale sign and I stay away from books that look like this.

' Why are you taking umbrage to my statement ? I did not attack you, humiliate you, demean you, or even use the word 'wrong' in my statement. I'm sorry but the assumptions you are making about my statement seem to be taken way out of context. Books escalate in price so quickly these days I just wanted to point out that ASM 194 was getting pricey. No confrontation, not trying to prove you wrong, just a comment.

    That was an excellent deal, a steal at current market value, congrats. I'll still stand by my comment that 800 will not get you an ASM 194 in 9.8 . Of course we can debate the meaning of 'in the range' but that would be tedious and boring.

    I think the OP bought his book, a Hulk 181 in 5.0 so further conversation is moot, unless it's just for the fun of discussion..

    This sentence is a classic example of how you react, immediately start typing, and hit enter before reading it. Read it yourself, it's a ridiculously structured sentence, sounding very immature. 'You guys' used 3 times in the same sentence ? I think it's time to take a step back, take a short sabbatical, change your name, and come back here with a better attitude.

    I've been telling you this for months now. This thread should be about the book and not about YOU. I asked you a while back to consider taking a break from posting but all you did was change your name and come roaring back. You own some cool books, including an AF15, kudos. We all know where you are coming from, no need come trolling here every, single day. IMO, you are annoying most of us. If I am wrong and some of you enjoy SC22's commentary feel free to step forward.

    Wow, this is one of the most immature comments I have ever read on the Boards. First, you are being very disrespectful to bronze johnny. No need for all the hahaha's. Second, you are so absolutely wrong. As you can only know if you ever get married, being in a relationship is not even close to what it's like being married. Because you had a girlfriend or two you are an expert on life, marriage, and relationships ? Time to change your Board name again. You just lost what little credibility you had here.

    Just thinking outside the box here but what about a Lois Lane 106 ? Collectors are always asking for it at conventions. 800 will get a high grade. No superhero play here but very socially relevant. Along the same lines what about some other books with no superheroes but just cool covers or big name artists. Cool cover books can catch fire.

    Don't get me wrong, I like ASM 14 and it is a cool book. But not 'investment' quality at a 5.0 level. I think there are better choices.

    For an ASM 14, 800.00 will get you a 5.0/5.5 at best, hardly a blue chip investment at that grade. I think a better play is to buy a book where 800 gets you a high grade.

    If the book is in a 1st generation 'new' slab, the books were held in place using tremendous pressure. The response to these new slabs was not good as collectors feared the pressure was damaging the books and CGC changed to a 2nd generation 'new' slab. The new design went back to an inner well design without use of pressure. In summary, perhaps the book had a tiny staple tear when graded and then was exaggerated from the pressure of the new slab. In this scenario, the notes may not mention the staple tears. In any case, stop procrastinating and contact CGC. You are correct, the book cannot be a 9.4 with these tears. Something is amiss.     It is in a slab = the OP already knows the grade and is looking for potential to purchase. First off, the pics are terrible, out of focus and fuzzy. The bottom left corner has some sort of 'problem' going on. I suggest the OP buy the grader's notes to try and ascertain pressable defects. There is no way for us to judge from these pictures. I'm sorry but I don't like PGM threads that are trying to use us to make them money.
