  1. I saw this in another thread where somebody called you out, not so much on your sales data, but on your commentary. While you did respond to him, I did not see where you answered his question on whether you own a copy of AS#8.
  2. May I point out this is not an exclusive thread. All your stats are for All Star #8. Start a separate thread for All Start #8 and post away on the stats. While all of us would love to have this book, most of us don't. Trust me, if you don't own the book, the stats are not that interesting.
  3. This has turned out to be a very informative thread. Kudos to the always helpful Bradley for giving us the CGC specifics. BTW, I agree with Michael, it is somewhat unethical to leave it in the Blue Label.
  4. My bad on misreading the original post. However, I did not realize that a signed book in low grade could receive a Blue label. Often, especially on keys, it's usually low grade that are submitted for signatures. Interesting.
  5. What's to explain, that's how it works. CGC has a Signature Service Program where the signature is guaranteed to be genuine but the signing has to be witnessed by a CGC rep. No CGC witness = a Green Label Qualified grade as they cannot guarantee the signature to be genuine.
  6. I basically agree with you here but on certain books I like it in a CGC holder. If it's an expensive book I think it is more valuable in a CGC slab. It's also easier for your heirs in case something happens. The slab also protects your books from damage = easier to hand it to someone for viewing without worry.
  7. There was a couple that sold on Clink. http://www.comiclink.com/search.asp?where=sell&title=overstreet&GO2=GO&ItemType=CB I actually have one, if you are interested shoot me a PM. http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryRoom.asp?GSub=1226
  8. Yeah, but they're in the bank safe deposit box. When have you heard of anyone's comics getting stolen from a bank deposit box? Unless by some act of god and the building is destroyed/burns down you are probably ok. items in Bank Safe Deposit are not insured. The safe deposit box I have is climate controlled Believe it or not, theft from Bank Safe Deposit boxes do occur. I'll try to link the latest theft that happen in California As Oakman said, they can probably be insured cheaper. Nothing there would be hard to replace. Yes, a Collectibles Insurance policy giving blanket coverage for 20K would be cheaper. They would be insured at home or in the Bank Vault, 20K at each location. I also concur that all of this is easily replaced. I would only put items into the Bank Vault that are either 1) Really expensive or 2) Unique, cannot be replaced.
  9. Does this have any bearing on the technical grade? No, but it will be a factor with valuation.
  10. Not centered very well so lacking some eye appeal. There is a chip out on the BC and I'm not sure what is going on with the upper right BC corner. If it is stains we have a problem. Assuming it is not a stain 9.0, tops.
  11. And at the same time, doesn't this also sort of invalidate all of their own previous slabbed books which would have been graded under their previous looser standards. Yes, I always check when a book was graded, avoiding the loose periods and embracing the tight periods. You definitely want Haspel era books, very tightly graded, lots of value there.
  12. It must be a reference to the pre chipping going on. I think I see a few of them, though the one you pointed out, by Spidey's hand, is the most severe. While the look of the pre chips don't bother me, I always worry that they will fall out someday. Nothing worse than a chip laying at the bottom of the inner well. I always feel better if the book is held in place by a wedge or two but I don't see any here. Of course we can't see the back cover to verify.
  13. Sounds like a reason some top grade owners, in theory, might be against the proliferation of pressing. /jk I didn't mean a census type of thing, I meant that both a 9.6 and 9.4 are in the same auction, with another 9.4 in another auction. But yes, the proliferation of pressing has indeed inflated the census. Not much is truly 'rare' these days.
  14. How can the 9.6 not have an impact on the price of the 9.4 ? If I were the owner of the 9.4, I would be more than a little upset.
  15. It cannot be considered an original state if Stan Lee signed it. I think it's a big mistake to get a high grade key signed.
  16. It does look like the start of a tear but it may just be bent with the light refracting. It would be a smart move to get it reholdered . I don't understand it.
  17. Look at the Back cover of the CC copy. It looks like the book is swimming in the inner well with a touch of SCS going on already. Both the top and bottom edge are bent. Nothing that probably can't be fixed but the book should be reholdered and those edges made straight. The Clink copy has much better centering. I can see the whole of the letter 'M' in Marvel. The CC copy has the 'M' cut off slightly.
  18. Actually, CVA was a perfect service for the 'never show the Back Cover' auctions of Comiclink. The CVA stickers gave me a sense of confidence that the Back Cover was clean.
  19. I've ordered many, many times and always got my books in great condition. However, I must also say that I've never graded any of my books (but I do identify when there are folds, spine indentations or other minor details with the books). For this Gamora cover I've heard that there are some complaints in how the books are being shipped now, so maybe you can also complain directly to their site. I still have not received my copies, but will let you know how it goes. As I'm outside the US, maybe it'll take a month or so. =/ I got my Gamora's last week with the same results. I concur, that it was not a shipping problem. The books were packaged nicely and the box was not damaged. I don't think they guarantee 9.8 . IMO, it's just the way it is. The books were similar to an LCS comic that was on the rack for a few hours. Just light handling flaws.
  20. I agree, don't like the looks of it at all. Actually the date stamp does not bother me but, compared to the Clink 9.4, it's hard to believe they both have the same grade.
  21. Probably 25 years ago, give or take, I once gave a loan to my LCS owner for 3500 . He wanted to buy a Michael Jordan Rookie Card. We drew up an agreement and he gave me a box of comics as collateral. They were all Valiant, actually more valuable than SA for a brief moment in time. It was all good as he paid me back really quick.
  22. It will most likely sell between 250 000$ and 350 000$....I know this is a huge range in value but my guess it will at least hit 300 000$. See, you are always/only about the Financials. BTW, I agree on 300K . HaHa.
