  1. Look, it's going to come up at some point, so why not say it now. I think the book looks fabulous and..... IMO, it does not looked pressed. What is the Hope collection ?
  2. Serious question. I am no lawyer = I really don't know. Can you legally take your child's inheritance and loan it to a complete stranger ?
  3. Good stuff, like the background stories. Love that 6.0 !
  4. This is true. Also, remember after Borock left CGC and he started dealing comics ? At that time he was very active on the Boards. He made many Board comments promoting pressing. The fact that he, the former head of CGC, had all his books pressed made it legitimate around here. Back then most pressed books came through Texas but Matt couldn't keep up. Soon, everybody that had access to electricity bought their own press. But back in 2000, nobody knew about pressing. And, as you stated, it was only done as the last step in a restorative process. I remember, Susan Cicconi refusing to offer a stand alone pressing service. Of course, that is no longer true.
  5. See, this is where you make it personal and insulting by making things up about me. Roy, on this point, I will agree with you. I made it too personal, I apologize for that. I will try and refrain from discussing your business. May I point out that you always refer to me as an anti presser, is that not personal ? You keep pounding away at it even though I have stated many times I am only anti BAD pressing, big difference.
  6. Bob do you or have you ever had books pressed? Why does it bother you if I say a book looks pressed ? In this thread I said the book looked original, not pressed. I said it deserved to sell for as much as a pressed 9.4. That did not sit well with you. I suppose it probably behooves your business model to keep the general comic buying public uneducated about these matters. If you can't buy an undergraded 9.2 at a 9.2 price, you aren't making money. Of course I have had books pressed, Matt (before and after CCS), Joey, and others. I have also bought pressed books. I bought from you, didn't I ? I have said many times, I am not against pressing, just bad pressing. It's interesting that I can have an open dialog with someone like Joey, whose business is pressing, and we can keep it civil and informative. Obviously, Joey is very knowledgeable on these topics and can add valuable insight. You, however, with no practical expertise, challenge me on everything.
  7. But you swoop in like a banshee on other people's comments, often interpreting them incorrectly without forgiveness. I just wish you could see how incredibly difficult it is to deal with you on these kind of threads. Always right, always the expert, always on the high moral ground. In this thread, you were wrong. Can you admit that, of course not. Instead you were in a hurry and didn't make your thoughts clear. It's all good though. See you in the next thread. But, I never swoop in on anyone. I'm pretty polite when I post and I often admit to being wrong. My manhood doesn't rest on whether I'm right or wrong. I'm only here for conversation. If my idea of conversation doesn't suit you feel free to ignore me. I dropped the last conversation even though I disagreed with you because you asked me to. Please stop following me around now and making it personal. Thanks. Roy, it is inevitable that you and I will clash on certain topics. I'm the 'purist' collector and you're the dealer with a business model of seeking out under graded books for resub. IMO, you troll me. I'm not denying I have been making things personal but don't deny you are without sin also. Your overuse of the laugh emoticon when talking to me is disrespectful. We should be able to converse, I hope we can converse. Talk to you later.............
  8. Now that is a sweet looking copy! +1 Western Penn's are always nice.
  9. That'd be one helluva dice roll Hey Tom ! Maybe but it's still one helluva book ! It could get regraded as a 9.0 and then it would fit nicely into your collection. HaHa !
  10. I still find you among the most credible posters I've read on the boards. Michael is indeed a gentlemen and a scholar ! One of my favorites also. It is refreshing to see someone admit to being wrong. Doesn't happen too often.
  11. Acknowledging your points that you are not specifically paying for a grade, I still think most would contact his site directly with complaints. With your logic, no one should ever complain to CGC about their grades either. After all, you are only paying for their opinion.
  12. Good points. The grading results alone would be a problem. What happens when a book, somewhere in the submission process, gets banged up and gets a 7.5 ? The first finger pointing would be to his store. As stated, the site seems to do a pretty good job of delivering 9.8 candidates. Why mess with it ?
  13. I doubt he'd go for it, simply because its so much easier for him to simply sign a bunch of books he has lying around; versus setting things up with a facilitator. Not sure he'd be able to make enough more money if he's weighing it against his time. Good point, no incentive for him to do this.

  16. There's no chance this book hasn't been thoroughly worked on already. Agreed. Roy, you absolutely have to be trolling here. In another thread you are slamming me because I postulated the book look pressed. Here, when I say the book looks original, you claim the book was worked on. Since you like emoticons, here are a few for you.... Bob, I don't troll. What I should have said was that if the book was not worked on then there is likely nothing that can improve the grade that can be removed that will improve the grade (I count about a half dozen spine stresses, I assume there is some tanning due to PQ and I don't know what else). Roy, you give a '+1' to the statement that the book has been worked on. Then, the original owner refutes this. Now you try to dance out of it with 'what I should have said......' blah, blah, blah. I'm calling BS when I see BS. Can a Virgo ever admit to being wrong ?
  17. In any case I think today's techniques are much more aggressive. I expect this nice book will have a whole new look to it. I would assume it was purchased by a high end dealer, maybe even Clink bought it, and it will not be very long before we see the results.

  19. But if it's got color breaking spine ticks on the book, I thought that pressing would not help to enhance the grade of the book as it would simply be left with flattened color breaking white spots or breaks on the book? I guess we'll soon see. I predict coming soon to auction as a 9.4 .
  20. No need to explain or defend yourself. This is a perfectly plausible situation. I also think it is both good for you and Josh to have the sale price made public. While it is a strong price, it is a really exceptional book and those White pages alone deserve a premium. It's all good !!!
  21. Okay, so would you rather have an original 9.2 with some spine ticks or a pancaked 9.4 with flattened spine ticks. I'm glad it got a '9.4 price', it deserved it. However, I am sad a nice book like this will now probably be worked on.
  22. First time transaction with Dre, I bought 4 books, 2 slabbed and 2 raw. The packaging was excellent. The raws were well protected between cardboard next to the slabs with a pillow of bubble wrap around everything. Great communication and timely shipping. Thanks for an all around great transaction !
  23. Or just post less. If me and you stopped posting there would be a 50% drop in total posts lolll!! I will try to post less. It's not the number of posts but the substance. All you ever talk about is the financials. It's really getting tedious and BORING.
  24. Heritage just sold a 9.4 at auction for $450K a few months ago. You really think a 9.2 should sell for more? Nothing surprises me anymore. I think this 9.2 was worthy of a 9.4 price. I think originality deserves to be recognized. I'd rather have an original 9.2 than a manipulated 9.4 .
  25. Personally, I don't like the sound of this new movie. They are pushing the comedy too much. It was great for Deadpool, won't work for everything. Poor choice IMO.
