  1. With so many steps in the whole process from when it leaves your hands and the graders ultimately see it, I don't understand how you say that it's 'likely' the graders fault. If the CGC graders were routinely turning 9.8's into 8.0's from handling, I doubt CGC would still be in business. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish by starting this thread but I don't think you are convincing anyone it's the fault of the graders.
  2. This is so true. It seems whenever somebody is unhappy with their grades, they only blame CGC. The assumption being that their books were properly pressed. Based on the OP's comments it would seem the presser could be at fault. CGC is grading what they have in front of them. If it's not a 9.8 in their hands, why is it their fault ?
  3. Not my intent to advocate deceit but that's some nice defense to spin it that way. Okay, you got a nice find and it's cool to share it on the Boards. But it would have been just as cool to simply show a single box. Showing off multiple boxes and simultaneously trying to sell them in a sales thread is not the best strategy.
  4. You misunderstood my point. I am not questioning your price or the FMV of the items. I am questioning you showing the internet multiple boxes. The better play would have been to show one box here. You could have 'pimped' it by saying what a rare, one of a kind find. That draws interest. Now, everyone knows there is plenty out there.
  5. Ok, if more turn up, I'll keep it to myself. This is sound advice. When I saw your sales thread asking for 2,000.00 a box I had to laugh, knowing in another thread you are showing off how many boxes you found. Not a good business strategy.
  6. I like this thread. Let's keep it going. Here's a few more from my collection........
  7. If your selling I'm buying, love this copy. Thanks but I have to enjoy it for a while. As the thread says, new to my collection.
  8. Not normally in my collecting focus, I could not resist the cover colors and WHITE on these two books from the same collection.
  9. At least you have the books in your possession to spam. Personally, I would welcome your Spam !
  10. Great grabs ! I especially love that TOS 11, White Pages !!!!
  11. #70 is a personal favorite. They seem to sell the moment they are listed on E-Bay.
  12. Strange Adventures 110 !!!! How do you keep finding this issue. DId you keep one for your personal collection ?
  13. 98 is certainly in more market favor at the moment (used to be 105) Been going 800-1000 a point Actually, 98 has been easing back down. A really nice 6.0 with nice pages didn't even hit 4K in the last Clink auction. While 98 is a desirable book I personally didn't understand the sudden run up last year. Correct me if I am wrong but the origin story, which starts in 98, is a trilogy, consisting of 98,99, and 105. 105 not only concludes the origin but summarizes all three parts. As you stated, for years 105 was the go to book. I love all the issues from this era and they are all exceptionally rare in the census. Obviously the run up in 98 has brought many more to market and is actually got a higher census than the other issues around it.
  14. This is a terribly phrased poll. Last comment before the poll is..... 'Do you believe it is okay to walk away from a done deal (as either a buyer or seller) simply because a better offer comes along, OR you believe a better offer will come along?' While the poll question is.... Is it ok to walk out on a deal? These are two different questions, one is very specific and the other very broad. I would like to respond to the poll but I'm not sure which question I am responding to.
  15. Hep, good stuff. It amazes me that you can remember these comic buying events so precisely. While I can look at a book and know if I had it as a kid, it's still basically all a blur. I would only buy two comics a week and attempt to read as many as I could in the aisle until the proprietor would yell 'this isn't a library'.
  16. I think my new 105 will fit in well with my collection...
