  1. I don't understand. If CGC sees a flaw that holds the grade down, what do you want them to do ? I think the customers that actually buy these 9.8 slabs expect an accurately graded product. Why the feeling of entitlement here ? Look at the big picure here. The Modern market is as strong as ever. I think an accurately graded product helps this market.
  2. Elrod was the first person I sold to via the Boards. There was a little drama but it ended okay.
  3. I wish all 5.0s looked this amazing. +1 Great eye appeal. Too bad it has those White Pages, foolish move per some people ! ()
  4. Actually, the first batch was impressive, a little more vintage. However, the second batch is the usual flavor of the month, census busting stuff as you said. I do like that Hulk 377 3rd print. It's a cool book and a personal favorite. It's nice to see Greggy expanding his horizons more.
  5. +1 Those are some really nice looking books.
  6. I am speechless. This has to be the BEST Group Shot of all time.
  7. First off, thanks for gathering this info and sharing it. Very interesting. Just looking at 9.0 and above I guess there has not been an avalanche of new copies. I think a lot of the new copies in auction recently are from the same collection. The OO wrote, in marker, on the inside of the front cover. You can see, in the upper right of the front cover, a mild bleed through. Even with this 'flaw', the books graded very high. It appears CGC treated them like simple writing on the cover. Not a big deal but the fact that they are on the inside cover, these markings are not legible and almost look like a stain, which they are not.
  8. Not common across the Board but individually some will be 'common'. Examples... TOS 28 has four copies in 9.4, two in 9.2, and 3 in 9.0 . My 7.0, previously a decent grade, now has 27 copies graded higher. TOS 38 has 2 copies in 9.6, 3 in 9.4, 3 in 9.2, and 5 in 9.0 . My 8.0, again a decent grade, now has 10 in grade and 22 graded higher.
  9. I'm starting to sense the high grade PHM are coming out lately. It used to be a 6.0 was a respectable grade and an 8.0 an uber high grade. I'm seeing some awesome stuff come to market in 9.0+ with prices to match. Personally, I have mixed emotions about this.
  10. I would be nervous about using a backing board for fear of damaging the book in the inner well. I suggest something lighter. An envelope works well for me.
  11. Thanks. Just like your comics, everything seems to be in pristine shape. Love it !
  12. Hep, at your leisure I'd love to see a close up of the Shindig and Outer Limits game box. Love your collection and display cases. You have enough stuff to charge an admission fee to see !
  13. Cool books, love the esoteric and you're right, you don't see these often.
  14. Love this thread. My favorite Sea Devils cover........
  15. And someday the market will reward books like yours.
  16. Just checked the ebay listings and sales results.........looks like they are going for nowhere near those prices in that condition. Is it even worth the cost of slabbing and all of the other ancillary charges that come with slabbing a book like this just to hopefully make a few dollars if you are lucky. Sure seems to be a lot of time and effort involved unless you are planning to make it by charging an exorbitant shipping and handling fee. Not to mention the added 'burden' placed on CGC turnaround times.
  17. No, we only talk about financials anymore in this thread.
