  1. Thanks for sharing. Love your collection !
  2. Nice submission but this one is especially cool. Congrats !!!
  3. Another great looking copy ! I am envious, I don't have a copy. In my lifetime I only had one low grade copy. It's really a tough book to find.
  4. (thumbs u Wow, an incredible book ! Congrats. And its one tough book in nice condition. Great book. Tim, do you have one ? If so, show it !
  5. (thumbs u Wow, an incredible book ! Congrats.
  6. Now this was an accomplishment. No matter how big a war chest you have finding these books in grade is truly a quest. Did we see a pic of that Showcase 20 yet ? I suspect you will dabble a little in the upgrade department . How about trying for Brave and the Bold ?
  7. Bob, don't let Jaydog and his shenanigans frustrate you (I think that's 3/4 of what he wants). what's funniest about this whole page quality conversation (white vs other PQs) is that BB28 is the worst book to argue against the point that that PQ influences value. That's because there's only a few (maybe as low as 2) white page copies on the census. one is your 7.5 and the only other I know of is the 4.0 that I used to own. That 7.5 white pages copy at auction would sell for more than any 7.5, period. And yes, there are many different kinds of preferences out there - Drbanner just made this point but I'll reinforce.....some people will pay more for a book with no writing, some with no marvel chipping, etc. etc......but when page quality is considered as a preference, NOONE wants a book with lower page quality. Higher PQ books will attract a higher price all else equal -- AND IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT ALL ELSE ISN'T OFTEN EQUAL. That's how rates of change are calculated in everything around us. cheers joey ...except when they don't and "all else" is never equal, and yes that makes all the difference in the world in fact. What you are basically saying is the the "PQ" on the label is the #1 consideration for everybody when making a buying decision. Sorry, but that is both presumptuous and flat out wrong. Shall I introduce examples of B&B 28 when it didn't happen ? Just say the word. I'm ready. -J. Jaydog, what exactly is your modus operandi here? While I think you are basically an avid collector and good guy, you are starting to come across as a raving maniac. I just don't think anyone concurs with your observations, yet you keep badgering. What are you trying to accomplish ? I have already conceded. You win. YOU WIN. Now, can we all go back to playing nice ?
  8. Does he even see the books in hand or are they shipped directly to Clink ?
  9. Actually that pretty much sums it up exactly. (thumbs u -J. Darn you Jaydog, I asked nicely, I even said PLEASE, why can't you just end it I said whatever you say is correct, you win, PQ don't mean squat, whatever you want to hear. At least give me the final word and Don't Reply.
  10. Regarding Jaydog, you have it all wrong. He is arguing that, statistically, PQ has no effect on the price. I'm bowing out here as we are ruining a perfectly good thread. Jaydog, do not pull me back in with some ridiculous comment. PLEASE. Let's just end it here. Whatever you say is correct, just stop.
  11. Guys, you are taking my comments way out of context. Of course there are no absolutes. There are fugly White Pagers and there are nice presenting CR/OW books. No argument. Realize who I was talking to here, Jaydog, who thinks there is no upside, either in value or quality to a White Pager. I simply pointed out that a book he owned, and was proud of, was a White Pager.
  12. Jaydog, even though you dissed my BB28 with claims of photography tricks, notice I did not take the bait. You only like to reference data when it works in your favor. While debating the value of some 10 cent DC keys I presented the CGC census data to back my point. In that case, when the data did not work in your favor, you dismissed it claiming something about it not being relevant. I've never "dissed" anybody's book. That makes all the differnce in the world in our approaches actually. I am not attempting to make people feel their books are "inferior" for any particular reason. There is a buyer for every book and budget. I alluded that the differences in the "appearances" of your book and the other one at auction could be the result of the scanner (again, not that anyone can divine the "page QUALITY" of a book from a picture). I actually complimented your book earlier in the thread. I suppose you missed that. And I don't recall dismissing any data points you provided. I don't need to do that. There is a counter data point for any one you can muster. That is basically the entire point. It's random and erratic. Hence, once again, why there is no consistent or quantifiable alleged "premium" that can be proven based solely on the so-called "PQ" that CGC decides to put on a label on any given day. (thumbs u -J. Jaydog, I recall seeing your copy of an FF 48 in a different thread (nice copy BTW). It was a White Pager and you commented that you bought it because the colors really popped. The fact that the colors popped is a reflection of the preservation. Going hand in hand with that is the fact that it was also a White Pager. A white pager = better preservation = other enhanced qualities = more attractive book = higher demand = higher price. I think you are a closet White Page lover !

  14. Nice looking copy. Even back in the day, this book was always difficult to find in high grade. The spine seemed to be manufactured with a near split. I read where it is 'dangerous' to press a Harbinger 1 for this same reason.
  15. Speaking of PQ I present my copy for your perusal, just in case you guys have forgotten. Love your copy !
  16. Regarding awarding for completeness, I like this idea, it makes sense. Why don't you make a formal request to Gemma ?
  17. Nice book. I saw that book in hand. I was really tempted as this book doesn't come up for sale very often but I decided to behave. I'm glad you got it !
  18. Thanks. FYI, I'm not a dealer, not even close. I got this book probably 20+ years ago. It came from a collection in Canada. I got quite a few books from this collection and most have similar characteristics. Technically they didn't grade uber high but very fresh with White Pages. Sometimes it pays to be a long time buy and hold collector.
  19. Thank you ! If you only look at labels, my book is a 7.5 . However, if you look at the book, it is a very fresh looking copy with White Pages. Very clean.
  20. Offering $4500 (the most a 4.5 has ever sold for two months ago) shouldn't be seen as an insult to any seller. I'd avoid going over $5000 since there seem to be plenty of them out there. Five sales in the last three months of 4.0-5.0. The one caveat is don't pay more than you can reasonably afford. If $5k is 10% of your yearly take home, look for other books. If 5K is 1% of your yearly take home, have fun. I think 4500 is overpaying, especially for a CR/OW. The 5.0 data is more current and the 90 day average on a 5.0 is 4900 with all three books having Off White pages.
  21. I tell you, some of these 10 cent DC's just don't seem to exist in high grades. Look at Showcase 22, a single highest graded at only a 9.2. Brave and the Bold 25, still only 5 copies in 8.5 or better. Showcase 20, first Rip Hunter, only 5 copies in 8.5 or higher. If Hawkman or Hawkgirl became hot and BB34 took off, the census numbers would still pale to most Marvel. BTW, didn't the article reference above say that it was Hawkgirl, not Hawkman, that would be in a movie ?
