  1. Nice book, at a glance, and no BC scan, it looks to be 7.0ish. Pages look nice also. Congrats.
  2. Single highest graded. I think this is good. It's showing respect for Rare DC from the 50's.
  3. Having trouble with Photobucket, I think the site has viruses and tries to attack my computer when I go in, my anti virus always kicks in ?? Anyway, here is a link to a newly acquired book. Pretty cool, not for the book but the CGC label. Very early CGC label with no Page Quality. Graded 1/11/2000 . Yes, I bought this book for the label, not the book ! http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=27564&GSub=901
  4. +1 Love the White pages ! Great eye appeal. Congrats.
  5. Bob, Maybe if many collectors (here on these boards are perfect examples) would stop sending in absolute DREK the real comics would get graded. Half the posts now in "this week back from CGC" should be in my new thread which I should start called "This book that shouldn't have been graded by CGC." Well said. CGC isn't a service for collectors anymore. It exists merely to service the flippers and big auction houses. Sad.
  6. Since this thread is basically an outlet to krank about CGC and not much of a discussion thread, I suspect my question will go unnoticed but I wonder if the original vision of CGC, the company, was anything like it has evolved into it. One of the original concerns about a grading company for comics was the sheer magnitude of product out there. It's ironic that that most of the current volume is not vintage material but brand new, just released books. Most of the complaints I read about here are Modern Fast Track type of stuff. They should spin the company off into two entities, one for Vintage and one for Modern. I just can't imagine being a CGC grader looking at endless stacks of newly released books, trying to decide if they are a 9.6 or 9.8, all the while hearing nothing but complaints.
  7. Sorry, big fan here, but this episode was very dismal, to the point of being boring. Nothing exciting, nothing to take away and remember.
  8. Though I have bought from Mike numerous times before, this is the first time I have purchased raw books from him. Nice, tight, accurate grading. Safely packaged and shipped quickly. Mike is great, my highest recommendation !
  9. Good stuff, some esoteric. I like it !
  10. Guys, I didn't quote the whole post, I edited it out to just the Sleepwalker's. How else could I make the joke about Sleepwalker without showing the quantity he bought ? It is not a 10 -15 quote. Personally, I agree with you on quoting a large post, most often I just do a Reply, not a quote.
  11. Greggy, didn't anybody tell you, the Sleepwalker hype was just a JOKE !!!!
  12. It's not usually the seller that shills the book. It's usually someone else, holding multiple copies, trying to pump and dump. They get the sale posted on GPA and then they don't pay. Mission accomplished.
  13. Was it in the Chicago area? I have a feeling Michael was in Wisconsin, say Madison ?
  14. Not for much longer, which motivated me to post the pedigree copies from my run. I think your comment slipped by the masses. Are you going to sell of your FF's ? You have an extraordinary collection. From a fellow collector's standpoint who also values originality, if sold, I am concerned these wonderful books will be subjected to the irons. Sad.
  15. Great batch of books. I especially like the Marvel Tales 134, always liked that cover. Per your Registry, this is your first slabbed Marvel Tales ?
  16. Incredible. Great group shot. Thanks for sharing !
  17. I want to personally thank the person who bought the My Greatest Adventure 80 7.5w slab in the last comiclink auction. Twin Cities ped, sure, but holy mackerel at the hammer price. That's a nice ROI for the person who bought it in the original HA auction back in '11 You're welcome! I've had trouble finding the book (its been in my WTB thread for months). Its a tough key to find in HG, especially right now, and White pages to boot. On top of that, I had a few little books that sold in the auction that I didn't have much into so even at the price I paid, I was still happy to have it. And there was another person that bid it up to the same amount. But since that was my high bid first, mine stuck. I also picked up a lower graded copy a few months ago that's at CGC that I may use to offset the cost even more. If anyone has any other copies in higher grade, please PM me (or any other books in my WTB thread)! As a person with more than a vested interest in the title, I've noticed MGA 80 prices have been on the rise as of late so it's not as though you are an extreme outlier here (thumbs u Actually, I thought that Twin Cities pedigree went for a reasonable price. I think I'm the bidder that stopped at that last bid.I had just picked up a nice 7.0 recently,so I was only bidding for the upgrade. That is the only reason I didn't bid again. Twin Cities books are so nice.
  18. I click on the Golden/Silver/Bronze Age thread, I see a sales thread that sounds interesting. I click on it looking for the books and find pages and pages of nonsense. The longer the total thread, the more likely I am going to give up and leave. It's analogous to commercials on a television program. It's nice that you are friends with the seller and want to say hi but why do I have to read it ? To me, the nonsense is worse than threadkrapping.
  19. A while back there was a sales thread on the Boards for an extremely unique, esoteric book in a CGC slab I was interested in. The seller mentioned he had submitted the book to CGC after getting it pressed by ?? (Not Joey or Matt) . I remembered seeing a raw copy that sold on the Boards and easily found it. Anyway, after comparing the raw and slabbed pics, it was obvious the book had a spine realignment. Anyway, that is one presser (again NOT Joey or Matt) I would stay away from. BTW, I kept my mouth shut about it, both publicly and privately, until now I guess.
  20. My vote is yes! +1 Very fair question to ask a seller. What if it was a book I pressed? Would CGC be OK with that type of round about advertising if the OP said it was me? Realizing your comment is tongue in cheek, it did make me realize the source of the press should be limited to PM. Joey, I would assume you personally do not have any problems with a seller identifying you as the presser ? For the record, I would feel safe if you were the presser.
  21. Try to keep up. Except for the poop part...mine was funnier. You are not in the same league as Sean on this one. Not only were your remarks redundant in nature, they were not very creative. 'Was the book in the bathroom' vs 'Cosmic radiation' , no comparison. Try it again.....
  22. If the above is the defintion of threadkrapping, then it is a lot more rampant than I thought. What about all the Nice book, GLWTS, , and all the other krap people post. I've seen sales threads with 3 or 4 pages of nonsense chatter. Trust me sellers, that stuff doesn't help your thread.
  23. I have to admit, that is very perceptive of you. When possible, I would like to know if the book was pressed by a professional. After experiencing 'pressing reversion' first hand on an expensive book, I have my concerns.
