I don't like the practice but Board sellers are always selling CGC books before they are in hand. That is why we 'never' see pics in sales threads anymore. Personally, I think you should always have the book in hand before selling.

I just hope my Showcase 1-104 will remain as is. I really don't want to participate in this. The way I look at the registry is no longer competitive. It's just a convenient way to document my books. To be forced to split up my sets would be a nuisance. Sorry but I still don't understand the point of all this.

I believe this was your statement on pursuing the Showcase 37 7.0....... My sister was rushed to the hospital so I was not around for the auction. I had the high bid when I left but it obviously wasn't strong enough. I honestly don't know why it went so cheap. How many copies of SC 37 do you have ?

Incredible. When I think about the effort involved in amassing this collection I am in awe. I really wonder if this would have been possible before the internet ? Congrats !

GCC fall sale? Yes, it was a good sale. Lots of product, especially in the Napervile store.

I have always assumed that white page books came from the basement area, more humid, and brown pages came from the attic or closet but I suppose you are correct. It's probably more a matter of temperature for the basement vs attic.

Rusty staples concern me a lot, maybe more than tape, as being both unsightly and having huge potential for continued deterioration and damage to the book. I can accept tape in a low grade book much more readily than staple rust, and cannot accept a high grade (VF and above) book with rust. Exactly. Interestingly enough, rusty staples occur in a humid environment, the same condition that sees the pages stay white. I love White pages and hate rusty staples so I walk a fine line. Good point about about the continued deterioration in the slab.

Is there anyway we can direct this question to CGC ? The basic question being how do they treat rusty staples. I would be very interested to hear from them. Perhaps we can even influence CGC to make a label notation, like they do for tape. This is an interesting thread and it would be great if we can make a positive from all this. I abhor rusty staples and didn't realize so many others hate it also.

I honestly don't blame you for requesting a refund. I would not want the book either. However, it's hard to blame the seller. He probably feels that the CGC label is enough. In any event, good luck with this.

Wow, a #37 in 7.0 with WHITE pages ! Don't see that too often. I'm actually thinking about downgrading my 7.5 OW to that copy for the PQ, seriously.

CGC has recently added the "real name" info to FF 52 as well I noticed. And great books guys. Leroy that 8.0 is particularly mesmerizing.
