  1. Thanks, I just got it today. You are very observant, I usually take the pic against a comic box background. I'll blame it on a bad back !
  2. Great, great book. Congrats. I was actually bidding on that book also but I backed off at the end because I already have a raw copy and I don't like to chase single highest graded. I'm glad an avid Fury collector like you got it !
  3. Here is the Don and Maggie copy. It is very similar to the Savannah copy and both are really nice examples of this issue. The colors really pop on the Don and Maggie copy.It looks a much superior copy.
  4. That's pretty cool. Congrats ! I see it's already in your signature line.
  5. Great book. I have 4 examples of pedigree Showcases. http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryRoom.asp?Page=3&GSub=888
  6. I love this cover. I can never find this book for sale in any decent grade. Awesome !
  7. Just got this home today. Needless to say I'm ecstatic.......
  8. My single digit LL's, all obtained in the 1990's and YES, they were extremely tough to find. I still need a #4, love your Toth copy. Anybody have an undercopy #4 to help a collector out ?
  9. That's terrible. I see that seller, LewisWayneGallery, a lot. Are they not legit ? Maybe it's another case of trying to manipulate GPA.
  10. Whenever I am at a convention, inevitably most dealers have multiple stacks of books set aside because they are 'On Hold" for so and so. We all know so and so doesn't buy all the books, they are just setting them aside to prevent others from buying them. I would hate to see this same technique employed in a sales thread. In this specific case I think the seller should have stated the book is Sold, not On Hold. There is a difference.
  11. How is it not probation worthy if he doesn't? He posted a book, had 2 ppls offer to buy it and now the seller says nah not going to sell it. Reverse it like many have said, I offer to buy a book and then say nah not going to buy it would be hung up to dry. Randy met all of his criteria: - US address - Non paypal payment I agree with you, Randy met all the seller's criteria. I do think Randy is entitled to the book and I would like to see him sell it to Randy. One more thing that was mentioned but not discussed. Someone posted in the thread about the book/price being a steal. Perhaps, this comment had the seller reconsider. Even as a buyer I cringe when I see these comments for fear the seller may change his mind. I just don't think they are appropriate.
  12. I'm just not seeing anyone at fault here. - I totally agree with GATOR's view of the On Hold being the equivalent of a conditional I'll Take It. - I do think Quadman holds the rightful claim to the book. - However, I totally understand the need of the seller to feel comfortable with the terms of the sale. While I would like to see him sell it to Quadman, I don't think it is probation worthy if he does not.
  13. I dont think that the negation of a possible return (due to getting the book SSed and there being some damage as a result of the SS process) excludes a partial refund. poor handling didnt make the book restored, it just made it go from a 9.0 to a 6.5 A 6.5 has a 12mo GPA average of $186, there's not enough data to say what a SA 6.5 is worth... A SA Stan Lee in 9.0 was worth 45% less than the universal version. So Say a restored 6.5 is worth half of what a blue 6.5 is worth. controlling for slabbing costs (say $40) that means you should refund him 50% of 146, so $73 does that make sense? (Im not sure myself, so Im going to leave it at that, and get some sleep...) That makes sense but I would disagree with the PLOD being worth half of the Blue. I think it would be less than half.
  14. My advice would be don't do it. Take a scan and display the scan. I think damage starts rather quickly, colors will ever so slightly fade. It's just not worth it. Sorry.
  15. There's note doubt CGC facilitated the process. I still get annoyed when I see an obviously pancaked book with staple tears in an ultra high grade slab.
  16. I've been collecting comics for near 25 years and I was not aware about pressing until reading on the boards. I also think Borock, via the Boards after he left CGC, made it legitimate. Everyone looked up to Steve and when he said it was perfectly acceptable and he was pressing his Board offerings, we all said it must be okay. PLease note, this is not a derogatory comment against Steve, just the way it went down.
  17. Just picked this up at C2E2.... Strange Adventures 135 Bethlehem copy with a cool Red Date Stamp ! http://www.myslabbedcomics.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=21846&GSub=889
  18. Also curious Last sale is $5,975 Average is $5,765 The latest Overstreet price was $4,000. Why the jump.. Overstreet is a useless reference. Since the advent of the internet and online buying, prices change daily. Overstreet is updated once a year, it's as useless as a year old stock quote.
  19. I so much agree with this statement. It seems like the latest trend is to list books without the pics. I don't like it. I don't like Pending scans. If I knew how to lobby to get pics to be a requirement for selling, I would do it.
