  1. I can only imagine the response from the Boards on soft grading if this Avengers 3 was truly graded 9.4 ! ()
  2. No, JHV's book was just slabbed in August. I saw it in hand, a stunning book. I could not find a single flaw.
  3. Brian, your JLA 1 is a stunning copy. Congrats. While I am not a player for books in this price range I would like to comment on pricing in general. I prefer to see a relatively firm price rather than a negotiable starting point. I see so many books on Clink with ridiculous asking prices that I hardly look anymore. I agree with you that it is difficult to price books like this.
  4. 'If' you decide to resubmit, just leave it in the slab when you send it to CGC. I would not chance removing it myself. Great book but the CR/OW would bug me. I would resubmit it, but just once.
  5. I am really proud of this copy, submitted by me years ago. Very strong colors in hand and fresh looking in hand.
  6. Since this isn't a selling thread I have to speak out. This book was just purchased less than a month ago for 1255.00 . Based on it's eye appeal I can see why this sale was so low. The 1255 is now the last sale GPA. I think you if you put this up for sale in the near future, before another GPA sale, you will have a difficult time even getting your money back. It is not an attractive copy with the flaws smacking you right in the face. Sorry.
  7. What jury of experts decreed that the Rosa Collection is not/not a pedigree? As far as I'm concerned -- having done extensive due diligence on the collection -- it is indeed a bona-fide pedigree. If you hold a different opinion, well, I guess you're entitled to it. But in reality you are either unfortunately misinformed or purposefully inciting chat-board provocation. First off, I like the Don Rosa books and I have many in my collection. The discussion of the collection being officially recognized as a pedigree was previously discussed to death on the Boards. Since CGC listed the collection in a tabular list of recognized pedigrees on their website many thought CGC did recognize them as a pedigree. I finally decided to call CGC and I talked to Eric, I believe. He stated CGC recognizes it as a 'collection' but not as a pedigree. This is why you see the word 'collection' on the label. With recognized pedigrees, White Mountain, Twin Cities, etc. the word collection is not on the label. So to answer your question of what jury of experts decreed it not a pedigree I answer CGC. I'm sorry if this upsets you.
  8. Greggy is a stand up guy. When he was showing off some newly acquired books, I asked him to keep me in mind if he ever decided to sell a particular book. He did and now I am the proud owner of Yellow Submarine in 9.0 White. Thank you Greggy !!! He shipped immediately and his packaging was truly bulletproof. You can feel safe buying from Greggy. My highest recomendations.
  9. Awesome, just awesome, congrats ! Great book and a great collection.
  10. Great book ! Regarding CGC not recognizing it as a Church copy, I believe they have a cutoff, datewise, for each pedigree. This happened to me on some Mass pedigrees from the 80's which they did not recognize.
  11. Man that is frickin' sweet!! Didn't Monstrollo have his own candy bar once? Bob, did you have a copy graded or bought it already graded? Freshly graded in Chicago last weekend. I picked this up raw from Ted VanLiew (Superworld) at C2E2 in Chicago last April. For the sake of disclosure it was pressed onsite by Joey. It is staying in my personal collection. As it should. (thumbs u What grade did Ted give it? I don't believe Ted gives a grade, just a price ?

  13. That's a great looking book Green ! I like Don Rosa books but it is not a pedigree, only a collection. In fact, I have submitted Don Rosa books and not even noted the 'pedigree' to CGC = means nothing to me.
  14. No doubt about it. I submitted 3 books onsite without pressing. I submitted another 15 books onsite with onsite pressing. Without onsite pressing these would not have been submitted. My pressed submissions were books from my personal collection that were not strong enough to submit on their own. They would have sat raw in a box. I understand your response. I used to feel the same way, mainly because I did not want to subject my books to the pressing process. I used Joey for the first time in Chicago and he was very careful and respectful of my books. Even the books that didn't grade out still looked better.
  15. This is something I haven't encountered before, or maybe just never noticed it. Any chance of pics Bob? I know exactly what Bob is refering to. It depends on the location of the staples. If they are perfectly centered on the spine they are more vulnerable. I don't believe CGC downgrades for the 'fuzzy'. I once sent them back a book thinking the 'fuzzy' was SCS and asking them to look at it. They simply sent it back, as is.

  17. Thanks. There is a lot of minor chipping along the right edge of the 5.0. However, unlike other books I have seen with chipping, it does not stand out. In hand, the cover is very bright and white. I like it a lot.
  18. I never used to bid on Heritage auctions because of the BP but lately I have been participating. The site is very clear on the bid with BP and it no longer bothers me. Actually I find the Heritage website to be very robust, informative, and easy to use. Showing previous sales, overstreet prices, and the CGC census really helps you make a quick decision. Also, there are bargains to be had.
  19. I have owned nearly every Marvel key at one time or another but this is my very first copy EVER.
