  1. @Gaard : Totally, but on those higher graded books the defects should obvious and few meaning way less work for notes than a book graded 2.5? I’d be fine with no notes on 9.6 with a larger obvious spine tick or blunted corner but when it’s not completely obvious notes should be provided. Most of those defects could easily be selected/generated from a checklist with minimal time consumption I bet which bring us right back to your plausible theory… … … 😬
  2. @Gaard : If notes were created they’re free but they’re not always created when graded. I have some (what I thought were very clean books that I spent a lot of time examining before sending) come back at 9.4/9.6 and no notes available. 😭
  3. @Stelly Stel : And yet I have more then a few 9.6/9.4’s with great corners and minimal to no visible spine damage w/ no grader’s notes while other books with more damage came back as 9.8? I’d pay five bucks to know exactly why this is?
  4. Hi there, does CGC forgive/grade differently books that contain the same production defect on a very high percentage of copies of the same run? A recent Marvel series contained significant stress marks on the spine across the entire run on what appears to most copies (I emailed and asked more than a few large online sellers to inquire). I purchased a few graded copies of the incentive covers from this run after all my copies arrived with stress marks in the same location on 20+ books consisting of variants and incentives. The graded 9.8’s had 4-5 stress marks, some with a few ugly ones clearly visible from the front and additionally the very slight corner fold tears common on Marvel books. I’ve sent in books with near perfect corners and no spine stress marks and only hit 9.6? I’m having a hard time finding how this happens on three graded copies, bought from different sellers on Ebay, on a run that had consistent damage on most/all books and variants? Can you offer some insight?
  5. Hi there, does CGC recognized sealed/untampered with Marvel Limited Treasured Editions as a verified signature? This wasn’t my book pictured but it’s similar. Thanks!
  6. Hi there, after delivery to CGC’s P.O. box, how long does it take for a mailed-in submission to become trackable?
  7. Thanks! I forget that he does appear on the cover too which helps with the case for issue #1. Consider Key Collector Comics definition of a cameo versus full appearance “we are defining cameo as a brief appearance - one in which the character is seen as a teaser for a future issue.” This is exactly what hangs me up on this appearance. Does a cover appearance, an extremely brief mention in a different characters bio, a verbal mention as a plot device for a completely different story objective (find the pilot defector), and a very brief appearance in a flashback (with no dialog) remembered with a degree of bias by a different character amount to a full first appearance if all of those elements (none of which can stand alone arguably) ultimately work as a tease for actually meeting the character in issue #2? In the end the market decides and we all sorta do a hard shrug but this one may stick with me forever because the parts that may make up a full first appearance also make up a solid case as a tease for the following issue’s appearance. *runs off crying* 🤣
  8. Man, I never was very good with grammar tenses and this ain’t helping. 🤣
  9. Thanks Adamantium! When I get a bit better I’ll throw some art up for sure. I’m hoping Spider-man 2099’s presence keeps growing and we see a bit more of the 2099 universe too. Steve Orlando did a solid job in my opinion offering both new and old characters in Spider-man 2099 Exodus with single issue stories that managed to further a greater narrative. The new X-men 2099 team in issue #5 was stellar too. Nice to meet you! 👍👍
  10. For sure, I’ve actually made a similar case to KeyCollector recently even though I have both books. As a relatively new collector I was hoping to see how others view these things a bit. The market will decide of course but I find it interesting how and why we form these decisions and based on what criteria? Hopefully some of those that have been around a lot longer aren’t annoyed by this. 🤣
  11. Hi everyone, my name is Mike and I’ve been a reader for about a decade but only collecting seriously for about a year. I also draw a bit and tend to like art styles before the Image revolution in the late 80s/90s. My favorite books this last year were Spider-man 2099 Exodus, Do a Powerdrop, The Last Ronin, and the goofy fun of Jurassic League. I Can’t wait to absorb some knowledge from you all. 🤩👍
  12. So full confession : I’m a huge fan of Saw Gererra and think he has a great story to tell relevant to the often ugly bleeding edge of rebellions in general. Consequently I’ve been struggling with Saw Gererra’s 1st full appearance being listed as Rogue One Adaptation #1. I’ll admit my definition of what a cameo and full 1st appearance is evolving the more I read and collect but here goes : In #1 of the Rogue One Adaptation Saw is mentioned as an associate of Jyn Erso in the “Rebel’s Report on page one w/a small picture. This section is solely about Jyn. Saw is mentioned a few times as a story device to connect the rebels with the pilot that defected. The story teases the objective of finding Saw to reach the pilot but the actual meet-up doesn’t occur until issue #2 when Saw appears in full. This seems like a classic cameo character tease. Finally, when we do see Saw in the comic it’s in a few panels. He’s recognizable but we only clearly see him from the front in one panel and he has no dialog. This is a flashback and from the perspective of Jyn. This is nuanced but nothing here amounts to us learning much about the character and none of what we do learn is from the character themselves. All of that comes from the second issue when we meet Saw in earnest. Issue #1 is a first appearance in comics and issue #2 is the first full appearance I believe. Any Star Wars fans with thoughts about whether this has merit or not? 😬
  13. Thanks Matt, that’s very helpful! 👍👍
  14. Hi there, I’ve found a few threads concerning this question with some conflicting responses so I thought I’d ask directly. Can foil covers be pressed through CCS? Are there any special considerations or restrictions if so? Any qualifiers in regards to expected results or risk? Thanks!
