  1. It will be interesting to see what happens. SC #22 has been building a base for a bit now and may creep up a bit again. The one book that perplexes me is B&B #28. It moved a bit last year when everyone started to speculate on it but has pulled back a bit in sub 7.0 condition now. I figured it would have jumped more by now across the board.
  2. Still a hot book, and supply has become fairly tight recently, especially for higher grade raw copies. I have noticed the same thing for some of the other Adams DCs as well. We could be poised for another bump up again in prices next year.
  3. there was a HA auction that closed last night? thought it was just the weekly sunday night auction this weekk... It was the weekly Sunday Night auction. They had some nice mid grade early GLs this week.
  4. Wow, prices on early GLs have dropped a lot since the movie. I totally forgot to up my placeholder bid on the 6.0 copy of #7 that sold for $286.80 with the juice on Heritage last night.
  5. It could have a shot at it based on some of the other 9.2s I saw online this summer, but with CGC tightening things up right now who knows. As long as it is a 9.0 it will be fine. (thumbs u
  6. The old Clink copy would definitely press to a 9.2 based on the scans I have seen. (thumbs u
  7. If the buyer could have held on to the Keller copy longer....would done better. how much longer? 10 years? Might even be longer than that. They bought it at the wrong time and paid a premium for it. Based on the rumblings we have had posted here, there are other HG copies lurking out there that will top 9.0. When that happens, this book will likely drop further as it will no longer be tied for top census. K, You still have to look beyond the "value" of this book to see what it represents to the hobby. Overall, it will always be in high demand in all grades. There's too much BST (Blood, Sweat & Tears) associated with this book. Every oldie and newbie has a story to tell about a 22 they had or still have. We keep hearing about these 9.0+ copies but they yet to have surfaced (and they probably will). Today, there are only 3 9.0s out there and nothing higher. It may be in high demand, but as soon as a 9.2/9.4/9.6 pops up the prices will adjust accordingly. Looking at the number of GA and SA collections that are turning up annually chances are that there are still a lot of HG copies out there. The biggest question is whether they end up slabbed or not.
  8. got scan? we can play guess the grade in the meantime. I think I posted it 20 or 40 pages ago. My guess is only 9.0 at the high end, but who knows.
  9. I finally got around to sending in my top copy last week. It will be interesting to see what the final result is as I bought it from a boardie as a 9.2.

  11. Wow, I did not realize that the original buyer of the Keller copy took such a hit on it.
  12. Isn't that a bit of a premium for a 7.0? If it was a 9.0 or better the premium would have been higher.
  13. Which makes it a more tightly and accurately graded book than the 5.0, err 6.0, Sparkle City copy up on eBay. That being said, the Sparkle City copy might not have been graded in the past month or so. While I definitely appreciated the gift grades I received during the summer, I have noticed that CGC has tightened up over my last couple of submissions from October. (thumbs u Based on that, I wonder if the grading fluctuations are more due to the volume of books they see at different times of the year. For example, if the con season results in a spike in submissions they need to push through then 1) there will be more loose grades due to volume and 2) graders may rush more and miss things. It might be interesting to resub books graded during convention off-season during a more busy time to see if that seasonality holds true. Absolutely true regarding the grading fluctuations. Some 9.8's are not true 9.8 and some 9.6 are just as nice. Gift grade are always welcome if it's in your favor. Nonetheless, being tight on your own grading...then less disappointments. This is why I dumped my 9.8 GL #87. It was one of my personal favorite Adams' DC books, but it had a spine crease that was so noticeable(broke color!) that I figured it would grade much lower.

  15. What I meant is the base that the WP premium starts at. If you buy the book, the base starts from 5.0. If you buy the label, it starts significantly higher. In any case, the recent Clink results show how far this book has fallen. That is great news - might be time to dip a toe in the water again for a more accurately graded copy.
  16. +1 Does that mean the premium should be based on a 5.0 starting price, or 6.0?
  17. Looking at that one, I'm not sure how mine isn't a 7.0 instead of only a 6.5... (maybe because my pages are only OW-W it stinks, but I'll post when it arrives this week). +1 I will not point out all of the issues, but I owned 5.0 copies in the past that looked pretty much the same as this one................ That being said, I also owned 4.5s that looked like 3.5s.
  18. +1 All we need is a little bit of a GL #76 run up and everything will be fine.......
  19. If I recall correctly, they can report it, right? If yes, please do that asap so it bumps up prices for the rest of us holding higher grade copies.
  20. If it reached that high. My guess is that it would sell for $100 - $125 without the Adams artwork.
  21. It will be interesting to see how the seller does with their #1 set. Non-Adams GLs have lagged since the movie came out. Hopefully they set a bunch of records, but the timing might not be right for it.
  22. You can pick through the GLs listed here to see them all: http://www.comiclink.com/Auctions/search.asp?FocusedOnly=1&where=auctions&title=green+lantern&ItemType=CB It will be interesting to see how their 9.2 GL #1 does in the auction as there is a 9.4 copy going up as well.
  23. So, is anyone following the #1 GL Registry set that is up in the Clink November auction? Is it a boardie that owns it?
  24. Oh well, despite what everyone here will say, if they were in the same position they would have done the same. Just like all of the boardies that chastised Chuck for the Mile High collection and saying they would have paid more, set up a scholarship in Church's name, etc., if they were in the same position they would have done the same thing. My friend did know the value of the book and was thrilled as he did not expect to ever be able to buy a copy of AF #15 (he likes his books to be VF or better). I am happy for him on this find. FWIW, I told my friend he made a mistake offering so much for just a few books as the owner might now take a look into the value of what is left. If it were me, I would have offered the owner $20 for both boxes of books after checking them all out and snagged everything. I also teased him that if there was an AF #15 in that shape he might have missed out a Hulk #1 and FF #1 in similar condition by not looking through the rest of the last stack.
