  1. @Mewie I’ve seen a display made by https://showyourslabs.com at a local card shop for showing a mix of one-touch and graded slabs. They can make custom holders.
  2. Will CGC cards be at Baltimore Comic Con next month to accept submissions? I see it listed on the events page, but the description only mentions comics, videos, and video games. Thanks.
  3. As someone who collected CGC graded comics well before getting into trading cards, I’m partial to that iconic blue label. CGC posted a mock-up showing the Purple Ghost-Spider 1/1 with the new label in their recent article, so I put it next the original blue label (with sub grades) to compare. I’m still convinced that Marvel cards look better with the blue. What do other Marvel collectors think?
  4. A buddy of mine has been gathering a bunch of tcg cards for grading and was still deciding what service to use. I was a pretty strong advocate for CGC before the announced changes, but now I’m ambivalent about it. The things I liked most about CGC (sub grades, perfect 10, distinctive blue label) all vanished when they decided essentially to conform to CSG.
  5. @NickiO CS @KaileeS CS Hi, can someone please advise what is the last day to submit cards to get the current blue label or sub grades? Thanks.
  6. That what CGC has been touting. See their recent instagram post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CtzlMEZvT1Q/?igshid=MTI1ZDU5ODQ3Yw==
  7. Setting aside the label cosmetics for a moment, my impression is that the changes to the grading scale will benefit dealers and sellers more than collectors such as myself who primarily buy. A “gem mint” is a “gem mint” regardless if it’s labeled a “9.5” or a “10,” but psychologically the “10” designation will certainly be more attractive, and sellers will feel justified in charging higher prices. I have already witnessed the prices of some CGC 9.5 cards suddenly get marked up by 10%, 20%, or more since CGC announced that these will now be considered Gem Mint 10’s. I’ve also heard anecdotes from sellers claiming that they’ve recently sold tons more 9.5’s in anticipation of the upcoming change to 10’s. Perhaps this is what CGC intended when it introduced the “market-friendly Gem Mint 10 scale.” I imagine that dealers who submit hundreds or thousands of cards make up the bulk of CGC’s business, not individual collectors like me. If the dealers can sell their gem mint cards in higher volume and at higher prices by calling them “10” instead of “9.5,” then perhaps they will be more willing to choose CGC over the other grading companies. Sure, perhaps my current 9.5’s could also fetch a higher price as 10’s if I ever decide to sell them. But in the meantime I’ll probably have to pay more for them to begin with.
  8. @Steven Medrano @Ricky9090 pristine 10 will still be pristine 10 under the new label from my understanding.
  9. Hi, I have a question on the current scoring. I have a CGC 9.5 card in the Spider-Man Metal Universe Grandiose set with 143 points. But other 9.5 cards get a score of 166. Is there a reason for the difference? Just trying to understand how the scoring works. Thanks!
  10. @cjspade Perfect 10 will no longer be available under the new system. So only Gem Mint 10 and Pristine 10. If you have a Perfect 10, it will change to Pristine 10 if you get it reholdered.
  11. In addition to the registry, it would be helpful to include a note in the certification lookup page that a card has been reported missing/stolen.
  12. Is the “18” referring to the card number on the silhouette?
  13. I see that several Marvel sets have been added now. Thank you!
  14. It would be nice if CGC were attending. There will be some well known comic creators there: https://fanexpohq.com/fanexpophiladelphia/comic-creators/
  15. @ShaggyB Looks like there will be another signing this year! https://www.cgccomics.com/news/article/11488/Scott-Campbell-Signing/
