My favorite Russ Heath cover signed by the great artist himself!
Posting this lone yellow slabbed copy in honor of the 99th Infantry Division that crossed the Dragon's Teeth and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in WW2.
Thanks to Rich for getting this done!

I wonder if they would make a Blue Snaggletooth cover?

I mean, do I get the Anakin because it's a SW AF to complete my run. Or, do I skip it and only do the OG Trilogy? I'm so torn with these first world problems.

That's what I'm thinking too. But what are we to do when the Jar Jar variant hits?

Awesome!

Now that is a Star Wars grail, congrats!

Four pages and no mention of Monster Squad? This is great news!
First thing I thought of as well!!! My little sister and I used to watch this over and over and over again, in fact about 10 years or so ago she got me this for Christmas!! Great flick

Did anyone get anything signed by Russ Heath at the Baltimore show? I had a couple books autographed.
I got Flesh and Steel signed and roughly 6-8 comics.
Nice! I got four DC war books signed by him, can't wait to see how they turned out.

This was either the third or fourth book given the 9.8 grade if I recall. I asked if Hama would do the head sketch to make it unique among signed copies. (thumbs u

There a variety of techniques that are usually grouped under the "greytone" or "washtone" moniker. More than one of these may be used on a cover. Sometimes only part of a cover employs a washtone technique.
1) Tempura painting in various shades of white/grey.
2) Craftint paper where the application of a special solution with a brush reveals an underlying pattern in shades of grey. Sometimes a second solution can be applied to reveal a different effect.
3) Charcoal, sometimes drawing on pebble-board which is textured
4) Color design wash that introduces different intensity or different colors in a blank area
The GI Combat 113 is an example of #2.
Nice! I've always wondered about the techniques, thanks for explaining. (thumbs u

Can you guys help me create a list of ALL of Russ Heath's grey tone covers from only his DC war books?
I would greatly appreciate the help. (thumbs u

SSWS 131, 132
There are some other Heath covers around those same numbers that have a bit of a washtone look about them, but I don't think they're washtone or greytone as we on the boards have tended to define them.
It's interesting to note that there are only three 10¢ Heath washtones. I guess I thought there'd be more, but he really wasn't nearly as prolific a cover artist for DC as Kubert and especially Grandenetti during the 50s and early 60s and most of the 10¢ DC covers he DID draw were NOT washtone effect. The real bonanza in Heath covers during that period came from Atlas. Buttock's submission above comprises quite a tidy representative group.
Very awesome! Thank you!

Even the Junkie?I really liked this first episode! I thought the pacing was great, and liked how they took time with the characters to establish them.I thought that character represented the literal walking dead. He wakes up from a "dead" life and is now being forced to confront emotions and experiences. I thought he walked like a zombie, stumbling around a lot in many of his scenes. I found him to be interesting because as a character he would be easy to kill off, because he was often self-centered and annoying. But at the end, does he try to protect his loved ones? Does he show any promise? That's what I'm hoping they develop. (thumbs u

There is a current seller on the boards here who I paid to create a sketch, and he never created it nor refunded me. This was about two years ago. At the time I thought he was going through a tough period so I didn't press the issue. We did message back and forth and he apologized, but again, I thought maybe I wouldn't be seeing him even post on the boards anymore.
But now I see he's posting books for sale on the boards. I don't think this is right, what do boardies think I should do?

I got this sketch and all my Joe signatures done by Rich Henn. (thumbs u

I was lucky enough to get these two books signed in Baltimore by the legend Russ Heath!
This is my all-time favorite Heath cover. I love the composition, the tones, the action, the dragon teeth, the tank blazing, everything.
