Don't I know it. I had to inventory all those books on at least two occasions and I helped with a re-bagging in the mid 80's. I remember a lot of the covers but like I said was never allowed or wanted to attempt to open any. Glad to hear you'r planning on holding on to them at least I'll always know where to find a few. Sorry nearmint I don't know who currently owns it but I can tell you that it was one of my dad's books "David N Toth Collection". Thanks for the info on the resub though I can update my data base to reflect the CGC # change. Good luck finding it. (thumbs u Andrew

I personally really liked some of the books you purchased, just from a cover art perspective (I never attempted to read any of these books). I really like the Bizzaro covers and the ones with all the deep purple, they really seem to pop. How goes your Jimmy Olsen collection? So as promised I spoke with dad today. I was pretty much correct in the JLA stuff he also reminded my about how much he liked World's Finest. As to a particular story the only thing he could remember,so I guess you would have to say it made an impression, was the Shrunken City of Kandor stories. (thumbs u Andrew

WOW!! Great to hear from so many familiar posters and hello to any newcomers. Little disappointed to hear that following the books has now become so difficult. I know we discussed early on that dealers were buying up the books and re-subbing them was just kinda hopeful that they would have at least mentioned the lineage. But I guess when your just in it for a quick buck you don't care whose toes your stepping on. Glad some of you hung on to them. I still wonder if the gentlemen that purchased the B&B 28-30 still kept them together. Would be nice. To answer your question steelcity: I've commented numerous times, but I like repeating it , that my dad did indeed read all the books that were sold in the 08'-10' auctions. I know he especially enjoyed JLA but as far as an overall story arch or particular book that was his favorite, I've never asked. But I will the next time I see him (should be Mon.) If I had to guess I would almost say it would have been the books that were in the worst condition, but that's just speculation and wouldn't hold up very well since his JLA books were the best. Hey everyone, Soooo it's been a while and just wanted to come and check in, didn't feel like waiting for the 10yr anniversary. Sorry for dredging up an old thread but I really didn't want to start a new one, plus I'm a little rusty at this. So if you could forgive me that would be great. It has been a roller coaster ride 7 yrs. My dad is just coming out of his 2nd major medical event in so many years. But he's on the mend now and things are looking up. I just got married in July and have recently returned from our honeymoon. As I'm sure all of you can imagine with all the drama we've had, we kinda had to drop out of the comic scene for a while. But now that things are coming around I hope to get back into the hobby. So as to keep this thread on topic: DOES ANYONE STILL HAVE ANY OF OUR BOOKS? I'm really interested if anyone is still holding on to them. It would be great to know that they went to good new homes. I've popped in here and there over the years and still see that we have some strong support and I really appreciate it. Especially with my abrupt departure from the boards. So I'll try and check back in a little more frequently from here on out, but I am still dealing with a lot of my dad's medical issues. So if I don't respond for a couple days I'll be back. I'm more than willing to answer any new questions or old questions that may come up and if for any reason no one is interested I'm fine with letting this thread die once again. Glad you all like the group shots, finished with the WDC&S tonight 201-263 only missing 6 in this group. We have a few past the 263 mark but I stored them someplace else and cannot seem to find them at the moment. Don't know if you all want to see more, like the US or DD sets but I can work on that if you want. Also need to get some group shots of all the raw books that fill in the gaps and get some of the dupes ready to sell. Kind of nervous about starting a sales thread, any tips would be appreciated. Due to some unfortunate health issues with my dad, we’ve not been purchasing many books as of late. I did manage to take some group shots this weekend as I’ve been saying I’d do it for a couple months. They do include our most recent purchases from the last sig. auction. Hope you enjoy. Hey Scrooge, It sold last year in the Feb. Auction for $28,680. My dad was thinking about it then not so much now. Been busy since the Nov. Sig. Auction w/ the Uncle Scrooge books and finally made it to the top of the Registry. Dad received a big box of Ducks today so here goes. Don't have scans of the US books that got him over the hump yet. If the collection wasn't quite as large and requiring so much leg work I definitely would have done that. But being separated from the collection by over 1,200 miles the logistics just would not have worked. I'm still getting my feet wet, but if something else comes along I may try it. Sorry you feel this way Transplant, I'd be more than willing to discuss my dad's collection at length with anyone interested. But as interest in my dad's collection has waned a bit, needed something new to talk about. The collection's are indeed very closely related as they both came from the same place, both are OO collections and the new collection is what is currently for sale. I thought most people would be interested in picking up some books that maybe they had missed out on in the Toth Collection in slightly lower grade, but from almost an identical source. People seem to want to know about what's new and exciting and currently available for purchase. I've been mainly answering questions as they arise not am not trying to shamelessly self promote, but merely providing the info that people seem to want. I've tried to encourage people to post their purchases from my dad's collection and even gone as far as asking for people that purchased raw books to post grades if they choose to have them graded to no avail. Got in touch with the consigner kimik, here goes: B&B 28 4.0 way under what I thought B&B 29 7.0 about what I thought B&B 30 7.0 about what I thought Not sure about PQ but I do have the Cert. #'s if there's any way to look them up let me know ( besides adding them to a Reg. set. ). Little disappointed but what can you do. In the pics I took I think the 28 looks way better than the 30 maybe something on the back cover? (thumbs u Andrew

I'm not sure a lot of collectors would agree with that assessment. I can back Tim up on that. Clink is far better at grading raw books based on my experience than Heritage. I don't know Tim, between my dad and I we've bought quite a few raw books from them and I don't feel any were grossly misrepresented. I've not had any of them graded yet to see, but I feel they would live up to the grade if not slightly higher. I was just going by what I was told and it would be in their best interest to go down one grade or so on the raw books. Someone buys a book they advertise as a 6.0 send it in comes back a 5.0 not very good for business, on the other hand comes back a 7.0 - 7.5 very good. I would be very interested to see what that GL would come back as and when I send some in I'll report back. Also in the case of my dad's books they were pretty spot on with what they thought the grades would come back as. But I guess when all the books are 9.2 -9.4's it's not that hard. lol (thumbs u Andrew
