  1. Is this normal? How does pieces of broken plastic inside a CGC case pass quality control?
  2. I sent in what I would call a more or less perfect copy of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Adventures #1 to be pressed and graded. The two photos I have here are photos I took of the front and back cover prior to sending it in to CGC. Obviously the photos were taken prior to being pressed. I have not yet received the comic back from CGC yet but the comic received a grade of 7.5 with the graders notes stating that there was a full bend on the front cover. There were no bends, folds, creases, or anything of that nature when I sent the comic to CGC. Does this happen a lot? Has anybody else had their comics develop mysterious damage that was not there when the comic was shipped to CGC? This was a great looking book that I thought would get a grade of 9.6 or 9.8. Then all of a sudden the cover gets folded in half prior to grading. I don’t get it.
  3. I am going to return the comic to the eBay seller who sold it to me. I explained to them that it is not their fault and if they are the ones who had it graded, they should contact CGC and have them explain how a comic book with so many flaws could possibly receive a grade of 9.8. It's absolutely unacceptable on the part of CGC. If someone like me can spot all of these flaws, then how can a "trained" grader working for CGC give this book a grade of 9.8. I have pretty much lost all confidence in CGC. If they can give a comic with so many flaws a more or less perfect grade of 9.8, then I have to wonder what other weird stuff is going on over there. I have books graded at 9.0 and 9.2 that look far superior in condition than this 9.8.

  5. I’m just curious. I bought this CGC 9.8 white pages Daredevil #160 off of e-Bay the other day and I’m really wondering how it could have possibly received the grade of 9.8. Numerous spine ticks, pretty good wear on the upper left hand corner, and pretty severe wear around the staples. The book has definitely been around the block a few times. My question is, how does a newly printed comic with absolutely no noticeable flaws receive a grade of 9.8 while this comic with more flaws than I care to mention can also receive a grade of 9.8? Isn’t 9.8 more or less a mint comic? This Daredevil #160 is not mint. I have comics that have graded around 9.0 and 9.2 that look far more nicer than this 9.8. Are the graders at CGC receiving proper training prior to letting them grade comics?

  12. Not mine. Saw it on eBay. Seller knows it’s a reprint but is selling it as an original.
  13. How does this happen? Does it happen a lot? I would think that someone who gets paid to grade comics would know the difference between an original comic and an obvious reprint. The guy selling this book on eBay knows it’s a reprint but is selling it as an original. Asking many hundreds of dollars for it.
  14. How does CGC explain these things when they happen. Is this a common occurrence?
  15. Here it is. Showed up in the mail today.
  16. I buy a lot of raw comics off of eBay and have around 100 graded comics. I usually buy my graded comics already graded rather than chance it and send in raw comics to CGC for grading. I took a chance a few months ago and bought a raw copy of Amazing Spider-Man #135 off of eBay for a little over one hundred dollars. I sent it in to CGC to be pressed and graded. I received an e-mail today from CGC telling me that me book was finished and is currently being shipped back to me. When I checked their website to see what grade it received, I was very surprised to see that it received a 9.6 with white pages. Not bad I guess for a hundred dollars plus the cost of pressing and grading. I’m quite happy about it.
  17. What do you guys use to keep a less then full box of comics from falling over?
