  1. Many, many friends but Foolkiller is an easy pick for me. Brian has been one of my closest friends for years now.
  2. Ruben was always a pleasure at our booth and would make polite small talk but preferred to be left alone to peruse the books. We always respected his wish and like many here have said, we were drawn to his humble, gentle spirit. Hope he crushes it.
  3. To be clear, I did not say I would go to the store and light the guy up. I used the word figuratively as in "light him up in 50,000 watts for all to see". And I would have no fear of criminal prosecution for doing so. I hope you get your art back but this many days later does not bode well.
  4. I'm in the other camp. I'd allow plenty of time but if the guy tries to cash in on an honest mistake, I'd light him up. Best of luck!
  5. Thought the ASM #10 Ditko page was reasonable. Especially given some of the meteoric prices we saw yesterday.
  6. So very sorry to hear this news. I never once heard Ed say an unkind word about someone nor did I ever hear any said about him. A class act who will be missed.
  7. Surprised. I was interested in the piece but lost interest in the low 200's. But as someone else stated, it's a gorgeous page and I'm sure the new owner will enjoy and do well longer term.
  8. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This With all due respect to those paying nutty multiples for these (Saddle Justice and Mighty Mouse, and mid-run Actions and Supermans), I think a washout is good for the pedigree as well as the hobby as a whole longer term.
  9. Incredibly sad to read this news. Like most dealers, I took tens of thousands of calls over the years and very few customers stood out. Thomas was one of them who did. Always friendly, always patient, always a gentleman. Like all of you, I am heartbroken for his family. RIP Thomas!
  10. My first exposure to Frazetta wasn't a comic book (even though I has been into comics for a few years), but the Molly Hatchet album cover that came out in 1978. I'm not a sci-fi/fantasy art fan for the most part but I covet Death Dealer with every fiber in my being.
  11. I own a few and have seen several others in hand. Obviously there were terrible misses by CGC on many books in this collection. That said, if you were careful there were some absolute one of a kind gems to be picked up. I am still thrilled with what I purchased and would write the same check for them today. I believe a lot of the retreads, not all but most, are not the most desirable of the Promise books and that it's likely the vast majority of the better Promise books haven't been seen or offered since the auction. If you haven't had a chance to see one, seek them out at the next convention (speaking of which I hope to see some of you in Orlando as I'm filling in as our other crew will be in C2E2) you attend. The colors are mind blowing.
  12. While I'm retired these days I still keep up with some of the goings on with the business and we just took that book, along with some other really cool GA books, in trade this past week. Best to all, Greg
  13. A friend of mine who has done exclusives in the past received this from Marvel: Subject: Clarification of Exclusive variants Hello everyone, As you all continue to expand your businesses, we want to thank you for continuing to explore exclusive opportunities with Marvel through our exclusive retailer variant program. By participating in our program, please remember that all cover artwork must be created and approved by Marvel. Once submitted and accepted, no retailer has permission to use these comics or art to create new products, edit, or change the published comic in any way. This of course pertains to all past and current comics. We have updated our deal sheets for all retailer variant cover requests moving forward to emphasize these points. As always, thank you for everything you do, and we appreciate your cooperation and continued support! Best, David
  14. Greg Reece upped his ask price as well for his 9.4 overnight. And Metro is trying to sell a signed 9.6 for $6k. And there they sit. Hope everyone is having a great holiday season. I'm not saying we've never changed a price before but the majority of the time you see an increase it's because it's a consignors book, as is the case with this particular BM #227, and the consignor has changed the price. Best to all, Greg
  15. When I sold all of my books and art 7-8 years ago I thought my collecting days were through. Had a couple of kids in college (both work full time in the business now), was trying to improve the website and build inventory for the business. It was just to much to try and juggle a collection too. Happy to begin anew + how could I resist these Schomburg's?
  16. Amazing Spider-man #1 CGC 9.0 OWW - No Paypal for this book. Check / MO / Wire or some similar fee-less payment please Asking price is $115,000 (shipping included)

  18. ebay user ID: new52batman "I’m sorry this purchase was a complete accident. I was falling asleep looking at my phone, and it fell and I must have accidentally hit purchase. Please cancel this order. Again I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but this was an accident. And I certainly can’t afford this."
  19. Bonus square: Walks by (without stopping) your wall full of 9.4/9.6 and 9.8's and says "mine are way nicer than that"
