  1. @DavidTheDavid is a very astute boardie who knows a good thing when he sees it and he's so easy to deal with that he's always welcome on my threads. Perhaps you could start a competition with him to see which of you can buy more books from me...
  2. I sold Ernie some beautiful Tomb of Dracula issues. He is an incredibly pleasant, patient and relaxed boardie to deal with and good to his word. I would do business again with Ernie any day of the week which ends in a 'y'.
  3. So, since this is my thread, my little universe, and I can do ANYTHING I want (almost), and I'm feeling drunk with power, I hereby decree that any item listed in this thread, prior to and not including the Tec 140 and other slabs listed yesterday, and which has a listed price of $3.50 or more, shall be for at least the rest of the day 10% off. I have so spoken!
  4. Tales of Suspense 53 CGC 9.2 ow-w pages $1,000 SOLD! 2nd appearance of Black Widow 24 graded higher with Universal label currently in the Census.
  5. So, they have what... six more episodes that haven't streamed? The last episode I saw was the season 4, episode 6.
  6. My Greatest Adventure 80 CGC 9.0 WP $10,500 Origin and 1st appearance of The Doom Patrol Doom Patrol premiered in the June 1963 issue of My Greatest Adventure; X-Men 1 came out just 3 months later and the similarities were striking. Over the years, the creators of Doom Patrol gave a number of interviews in which they stated their opinions that the X-Men were copied from their ideas. Maybe... or just one helluva coincidence. There are, by my count, 74 graded X-Men 1's Universal 9.0 or above and the last one sold in January of this year, according to GPA, for $102K There are 20 Universal graded copies of MGA 9.0 or above; the last sale of any issue 9.0 or above was when I bought this one in 2018. With no recent sales at grade to use for guidance, setting the asking price really came down to what price I'd be willing to part with the book for based on my own personal assessment of its relative value. I think it's at least worth the ask and I believe the reason you don't see this book turn over is because the few collectors who currently own copies in this grade aren't willing to sell their books for years old historical prices, which for some grades are over a decade old. I'm going to test the waters but it's okay if I don't sell it. With four seasons of a successful TV series, a new generation of comics fans have been introduced to the team and it's popularity will grow. In time, I believe it will get the respect it deserves, leading the way for the X-Men to follow with the originality of its characters and premise. As with the Tec 140, the following apply to this book and, in case of conflict with any global thread ground rules, the following takes precedence. Payment must be made by Certified Check mailed within two business days of agreement to purchase. We may, possibly, mutually agree to something different. Shipping costs will be exact and we can mutually agree as to the preferred method of shipping and the amount of insurance will be determined at that time. An in the thread trumps any ongoing PM negotiations and, if we reach an agreement via PM, you should immediately take it in the thread to establish your priority. That will be your responsibility. I would prefer to sell the book outright rather than trade it but I won't completely rule out the possibility of a trade for one or two similar quality books if I like them and it's clear to me that I'm better off after the trade than before. Your books would be received before mine ships. Thanks for looking.
  7. Detective 140 CGC 5.0 OW-W $15,000 Origin and 1st appearance of The Riddler I've owned this book for a few years and, while I've enjoyed looking at it very much, it's time to consider moving it along and maybe getting something new to enjoy for awhile. I still remember the excitement I felt when I sat down in front of the telly to watch the first episode of Adam West's new Batman series in the sixties. (Yep, I'm that old ) For those of you who weren't born when dinosaurs still roamed the planet, the weekly format was a 30-minute broadcast with a cliff-hanger on Wednesday night to be followed by a 30-minute broadcast with the resolution on Thursday night. The premier villian of the week was The Riddler played by the Jim Carrey of my generation, Frank Gershwin. IIRC, the Joker, played by Cesar Romero, didn't appear until the third week of the season. For that reason, the Riddler was always, to me, Batman's number 1 nemesis although The Joker has certainly made a strong case for the top spot the last few decades. And, IMHO, the only books more important in The Batman canon are Tec 27, Tec 38, Tec 168 and Bat 1, in that order. YMMV. I don't believe any type of work was done to this book prior to encapsulation, neither cleaning nor pressing, and it might possibly benefit from such but you can look at the scans and decide for yourself. One of the book's most noticeable attributes, which I've especially enjoyed, is the perfectly placed date stamp on the front cover, giving the book that unmistakable air of authenticity. It's the only copy I've seen like that so I've always considered my copy to be very special. If I count correctly, there are currently 74 graded blue-label copies at 5.0 or higher out of 182 in the census. So, rare, maybe not like hen's teeth, but certainly difficult to come by and I think only one or two copies change hands each year, if that. I felt very lucky to get mine when I did. 8. Time for another updated summary of what's still available. I know this thread is almost as old as I am but there are still quite a few books available which I'd still like to sell so I'll add to this thread as I can. I've tried to make sure this is an accurate summary of what's still available but mistakes happen. More coming soon! Thanks!
