  1. Yep...100% right on this. I just recently got one of my Silver copies SS graded and it came back with a 6.5 SS. One of the grading notes was, "Left Center Spine Split." Not sure about my other copy though (7.0 Qualified). I bought it pre-graded so I don't have the notes for it. If you bought that 7.0 from me (I dont recall at this point) then yes, it had a spine split. The Silver #12 I have does not have a spine split historically, due to extreme rarity and Supply vs Demand, the grade of the silvers and golds have had pretty much zero bearing on value.
  2. My ticket is up for sale http://www.ebay.com/itm/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-1-First-Printing-CGC-SS-7-5-Eastman-and-Laird-/182100802589?ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123
  3. Do we have any Pre-Mirage Eastman and Laird collectors? I'm about to purge what I believe is the largest private collection of pre-turtles books, and I would like to put them in the hand of a collector if possible.

  5. Pasadena huh? I could drive there....... Oh! Just thinking out loud. Locals are certainly welcome! And I'd obviously rather hand them to someone than ship them to someone.
  6. As fun as it has been being in the club all these years... we are having a baby! As such I am liquidating a lot! If anyone is looking for entry into the club, this is certainly a big way to do it! My baby thanks you! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Teenage-Mutant-Ninja-Turtles-1-First-7-5-Second-9-6-and-Third-9-4-Print-TMNT-/181557657170?

  8. While there are no "sure fire" ways to tell if these types of books are legit, there are things you can look for that will give you a pretty good idea. Photocopying was prone to fades back then, and individual machines would develop particular patterns. The machine Kevin and Peter used tended to have a fade stripe toward the right hand side of the book. The result of photocopying a photocopy would make that fade vanish. People who have handled a large number of these books (Myself, Danny, Rich, etc) can usually tell fairly easily when they are in hand.
  9. "CGC can be a hassle." Says the seller hiding something... Best guess it would top out at a 5; maybe could press higher. I would really worry about color touch... It's not just that, I don't think that book is a first print is it? Logo blood is correct Cover color is correct GG ad in the back address is correct no evident bleaching on the inside front cover Nothing to lead me to believe it's not a first print.
  10. FWIW The copier fade I would expect to see on an authentic book appears to be there . When an original is photocopied again, that copier fade goes away.
  11. Curious...would you ever risk cracking it for a yellow label?
  12. in case anyone is looking for a ticket into the club. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=7762815#Post7762815
