  1. Hey Gabriel,

Just watched a few of your videos and that JLA1 video that I mentioned was indeed yours.

A couple of your books jumped out at me...

    Batman 4 and Action 15.

    Two favorites of mine!

If you haven't found a repro cover for either of those books, I'm sure someone here on the boards can help. (Fedoraman) From my experience, I've found it very difficult to complete, incomplete books but there is a section in the Gold area called 'I wanna get married' and you may have some luck there.

I see you have an interest in coins too... that small silver lot was a good deal at $40.

Even with as low as melt is today, it might be a good idea to hang onto those.

    One question though...

On your first page, you indicate that your efforts have put you at a negative $2000+, yet you're showing sales of a TOS39, IH 180-182 and a commission from an AF15.

I'm guessing all of your purchases aren't listed on that first page unless I missed something.

Based on those sales (of some very strong books), I'm thinking you should be slightly ahead.

  2. It's hard to believe that Ms. Marvel 1 is nearly a 40 year old book...

As for that 8.5, I'd say it's a very good return on your investment!

And I have to say that I really enjoyed your latest Gwen post and your recollection of falling off your bike. Maybe what's behind the current Gwen interest is just what you wrote about.

A popular character deeply rooted in Spider-Man's history whose story is tragically cut short.

In my opinion, ASM 121 / 122 is probably one of the most defining classics of the Bronze Age and it should come as no surprise that it's sort of receiving a bit of a revival. It's been many years since I read that story arc but for me, the memories of first reading those two issues are seared into my mind as a modern day tragedy.

The unforgettable scenes of Spider-Man failing to save the woman that he loved the most, the dialogue between the two NYPD... the confrontation between a sunken eyed Peter Parker and a wacked out Harry, the Goblin's 'death' and ultimately the intensely dramatic Epilogue with MJ, have been with me since.

(And I hope that I got the issues and chronology right.)

  3. -slym (can't really call her Fsh anymore, she has both eyes again - dammit!)

Didnt really understand this. She had one eye. Fish has one i in it. Seems like that would have been the best time to call her Fish.

She was Fish Mooney when she had two eyes. When she was missing an eye, she was Fsh.

See? MISSING AN EYE... FSH MOONEY...

    :)

    -slym

What do you call a deer with one eye?

    No eye deer. :acclaim:

    Sorry... :sorry:

  4. I'm sorry I don't and I'm not sure if I could find it again... basically it was someone showing lower grade copies of JLA1 and mentioning that they were on the lookout for them to hold and sell later as the movie approaches.

Just a feeling but I think what they're planning for Superman V Batman will set some amazing groundwork for that!

  5. BTW - Is Ms Kringle meant to be somebody?

She appears frequently, but I'm not remembering (or I simply don't know) who she is?

A show creation or a comic character I'm not getting?

    Cheers

    PS: Kill Fish!

I was wondering about that too.

  6. Just caught up on your entries... some VERY nice additions! I couldn't help but notice your passing comment about the 'Spider-Gwen' thing.

I have a feeling that book, series, character, etc. is only starting to heat things up. I'd love to actually read the darn thing but I haven't been able to find any copies locally!

And you have some very impressive comic runs there!

  7. I have always been a believer that the financials of a transaction should be kept stealth. Especially if both the purchase and sale is on the Boards. Threads where Boardies brag about their biggest scores annoy me. While I sincerely feel you are an honest, hard working individual trying to get ahead, I just don't see any benefit to creating a public profit/loss statement. However, discussions about how your books graded with pics are very much welcome. It's about the books, not about the dollars !

Thanks I am a honest person and I'm trying to change my financial situation. So does that mean you want this journal to be about me getting the comics and seeing what they graded? so will you guys be able to know if I'm getting closer to my goal by what I post here?

Instead of using monetary values why not get creative and use pie charts or graphs to track your progress by percentages. You can share the results without dollar values involved.

    I like that idea.

Perhaps just document net losses / gains.
