  1. I recall buying these as they were released. It seemed so odd at the time that a major license like Disney had gone with such a small publisher like Slave Labor Graphics. Didn't last long, but the books were pretty cool.
  2. I've collected and sold off complete sets of Dave Stevens work a couple of times now. Used to stockpile them. The only book I never got was that Back Pages catalog, that thing is crazy rare. Of course it figures that there would be a CRAZY run up in prices during the time after I'd most recently sold my stock. It's nuts. I've been digging these out of dollar bins since the 90's, and while there has always been interest, there's never been interest like this. He was one of the best to ever pick up a brush, his work deserves all of the love in the world, but man I wish I'd kept another set for myself! Oh well, they're still out there, and prices will come back down.
  3. Same, I knocked it down to an 8.0 because of that. Man, this was...not pretty.
  4. Got my tickets for the 45th Anniversary screening of Alien this Friday! We're going to take our 16 year old niece, should be fun. She's seen Aliens, but has never watched the first film (which is my all time favorite movie.) Should be a lot of fun. My wife doesn't care much either way, but is a good sport. Alien is the focus of not just my comic collection, but my overall collecting, and prices seem to have been bumping up a bit here and there. I've been proactive in locking down a few pieces I'd been straggling on, just in case there's a bump in all Alien prices due to the movie and show. I've got most of the big stuff, but there are some odds and ends I need to squirrel away. FOMO is real. I don't think we're going to see any kind of CRAZY shift in demand and prices, but I also don't expect Alien stuff to get any cheaper in the next year or two, so may as well finish off those little collections while I still can. Luckily Alien/Aliens isn't Star Wars or Star Trek; there's plenty out there to collect, but it's not an impossible goal to "catch 'em all."
  5. I'm looking forward to revisiting Micronauts, but I'm going to hold out for a sale price. With four covers, and I'd assume a similar audience appeal to the Rom omnibus, I'm hopeful that it'll hit 50-60% off at some point. I have so many other books on my wish list, I'm not in a hurry. The Golden art looks fantastic, of course.
  6. I say this with love, but I can 100% picture this as being what you looked like, no problem! @the blob on the other hand, I dunno, I think we may have to petition to have his name changed. How does The Well Appointed Gentleman of Average Size hit everybody?
  7. Same! I'm interpreting this as I should probably sell all of my comics, move far away, and never darken this doorstep again. Or maybe he just pulls totally random images! Who can say? I'm doomed!
  8. Grades in! My philosophy this time was "First thought, best thought." I eagerly anticipate my Dead Last Place trophy!
  9. 52 is one of my favorite things DC ever published. A weekly series with four writers, it shouldn't have worked, and yet, somehow, it did! For a brief time, DC was hitting on all cylinders, with the various projects dovetailing into their big events, then follow-ups. I think it sort of lost steam with "Countdown", but 52 was the peak. Of course, it doesn't hurt that it starred some of my absolute favorite DC characters, like Booster Gold and The Question, but I also loved how it touched on all corners of the DCU. We got the dark and serious stuff, but we also got the goofy stuff, all of the things I love about DC. Just a terrific series, and indeed, that omni is a wristbreaker!
  10. I liked Strange Adventures, but am good with my standard hc. However, I will be all over the Absolute of Mister Miracle when it hits, really loved that one.
  11. Unforunately no, but since there's no hard end date, I take that to mean it'll last until their stock is back down to the level they want it to be at, sort of the same way IST will put a title on clearance, and after it sells xyz amount of copies, it goes back up to full price.
  12. Thanks bud! I mean, these little guys are almost NEVER there, I hadn't even thought to check until I lifted the hood to clean the car. First time it's ever happened for me!
  13. Awesome! I'm always hoping someone can grab a good deal when I post this stuff! Happy to share the news!
  14. Happy surprise! I was starting the process of cleaning up all of these toys, and realized that the DK-1 "Red Sunstreaker" had the pilot inside. Score!
  15. I love it! This is the sort of thing I'd have had no idea about, and now I get the identification AND a good story! Can't beat it, thanks!
  16. Back to the top! So, Captain America by Nick Spencer wasn't a volume that I was in any big hurry to pick up, but I did plan to eventually get it to keep my Cap HC run going. Cheap Graphic Novels has "Nick and Dent" copies available for $20. After tax and shipping it came to right about $30. My copy arrived today, and it looks flawless to me. Of course YMMV, but for the cost I think it's worth the risk if this is one you're thinking of getting. https://cheapgraphicnovels.com/captain-america-by-nick-spencer-omnibus-vol-01-hc-saiz-cvr-nick-and-dent- Also, CGN is having a Marvel 50% off sale on several books. It may not be a mind-blowing discount, but it safely makes for a better deal than current prices at IST, or the Target B2G1 sale. FF by Hickman 1 & 2 for $50 each, stuff like that. Worth a look. https://cheapgraphicnovels.com/marvel-sale-2024/
  17. All right, the verdict is in: this is not a toy! ha Very good, thanks guys!
  18. AWESOME! Thanks bud! I hadn't even looked at Joe parts, because everything I picked up looks to be Micronauts/Transformers/Starriors, etc. Didn't even think about checking the Joe guide. Much appreciated!
  19. And one last request sent into the ether. My Toy Fu apparently isn't what it used to be, I can't seem to find these, feels obvious but i'm not coming up with it. If you know, I'll send you a virtual hug!
  20. Oh and I know the one guy at the top is a Terminator figure, but don't recognize the yeller feller, if anyone of you do. Thanks again!
  21. Been spending some time IDing parts today, I have this totally random assortment of stuff left. I think most of it is literally junk, but I'm mostly curious abou tthe black thing cicled in blue, if anyone recognizes it. I've ID'd everything that is crossed out in red. The rest of the stuff I'm assuming is junk or not worth IDing, but anyone sees something they recognize, let me know! Oh, and if anyone knows what line these little army guys came from, that would be cool too!
