  1. Oooh yeah, this is also one that I always pick up. I think there are at least four different pricing variations to hunt, which makes it fun. This was also my favorite book when I was a kid, I was in love with Davis' take on Kitty Pryde. You can never have too many of these!
  2. My boilerplate response these days: "Most comics aren't worth anything at all. To get an idea of what you have, look up completed eBay auctions, that should give you a ballpark, but it all depends on the condition of your book. Good luck!"
  3. IF WD 1 drops to half price, I'll pick one up, for sure. The show may be sputtering out, and I'm sure we've long since seen the peak of the show's popularity, but that book is still ridiculously low-printed compared to current, and I'd say future, demand. Only, what, 7000 of them to go around? Even if the show is canceled, and fandom continues to taper off, that whole property was an honest to goodness cultural phenomenon. Things that are that popular don't just disappear forever. There will always be demand for the book, as the #1 key of the modern age. It may drop quite a bit, but it will never go away. WD 1 isn't a flash in the pan like Sixth Gun or whatever. That book is legit.
  4. When I was a kid, I had a couple of small (like, thin, digest sized) prono mags that I hid in bagged and boarded comics, as I knew there was no way Mom was ever going to open up a copy of Uncanny X-Men 132 and give it a read. I was never discovered, although I have often wondered if I bothered to remove the porn before selling those books.
  5. Huge score to kick off the first great yard sale day of the season! It was a beautiful, sunny, 90 degree day here on Saturday, so I thought I'd hit up some garage sales. Found an ad on CL that advertised thousands of dollar comics for sale, sale kicking off at 8am. Got there at 7:59, and the comics, of course, had all been sold. Ah, yes. Gotta love those early birds.Jerks. At any rate, the kid was apparently a flea market seller who was getting out of the game, and was getting rid of EVERYTHING. I noticed that he had a large stash of Joes, and he was very motivated to move them all. I only had enough cash on me to pick up about half of them at first, but then I ran to the bank and went back for the rest. Aside from the box of junked vehicles for $10 (should be able to make more than that on the various missiles alone) these are all later Joes. What I really wanted were the 2001 RAH Two-Packs, as I believe these were the last Joes to feature the original molds and O-rings. Most of them are just repaints of older figures. So those are pretty cool. I think I picked up pretty close to a complete set, plus lots of dupes. Those will move easily. Less interesting to me were the GI Joe vs Cobra 2-packs, as I never liked that big shouldered body style, and some Spy Troops. But he made me a pretty great deal on them if I'd agree to haul them all out, so away they went. Shouldn't have any trouble moving those either. SO, at this point I was junk drunk on my first major score of the 2018 garage sale season, and decided to head to another CL advertised sale that also mentioned comics. When I arrived there were just a couple of long boxes and a bunch of Funko Pops. At first I believed that I was going to have to be satisfied with the Marvel Tails #1 for 25 cents, but then I spotted the Teen Titans 12 for a buck, so that definitely made the trip worthwhile! Man, it's the most wonderful time of the year!
  6. Not worth much in this shape, but worth every penny of the 25 cents I paid for it.
  7. Plunk your magic twanger, Froggy.
  8. I'm pretty sure that most boardie's favorite boardie is themselves. I know I'm mine. Congrats Hector! You're a close runner up to me in my heart.
  9. I think the publication to Marvel Unlimited gap is only like 3 months now, is that right? It usually takes me a year or more to get around to reading a "new" book (there are exceptions. I will drop everything for a new Love and Rockets) so that three month gap is no big deal to me. Or is it 6? Regardless, not an issue for me, though I can see how it may be for readers who are hanging on month to month.
  10. I COLLECT paper pamphlet comics. I READ digital comics. I like both. I like having the physical object to look at and hold and adore, but I worry about damaging it by reading it. I love reading digital comics on my Ipad, the colors are eye-popping, and the backlight means I can read in bed after the wife has gone to sleep. And there's no physical item to worry about damaging!
  11. Satisfying my own curiosity, here's Boxoffemojo's all time adjusted for inflation chart. Avengers is the highest grossing Marvel flick, checking in at 29, with Black Panther right behind it at 30. Again, not crapping on the movies, just interested in putting it in perspective. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/alltime/adjusted.htm PS: This is US domestic only.
  12. Eh, any excuse to post Dave covers is a good one. No harm no foul.
  13. Oh, sure, not knocking them. The movies are hugely successful and it's an indisputable empire. I'm just curious about how it stacks up in the grand scheme of things, as I believe actual movie attendance continues to dwindle every year. It seems like every year there's a new #1 movie of all time, so I have to wonder how much of it really means anything, and how much is just PR spin.
  14. Wonder how the MCU movies stack up when adjusted for inflation? The fact that these "9 of the 10 biggest openings of all time" happened in the last 6 years says a lot about inflation and ticket prices, as opposed to tickets sold.
  15. The "can't find in the wild" part is on track. The modern part, not so much, but hey, we're getting closer!
  16. I also love fishing these out of the bargain bins, and would agree about Union 100%. I have a stack of most of these, but Union I've got maybe...two? Deathblow I run into quite a bit. Kindred, not quite as much, and definitely nowhere near as often as the common covers (Gen 13, WildCATS.) It's a fun run to pick up.
  17. Thanks for sharing Jimbo, it's an inspiring story. My wife is also in recovery, 11 years sober now. I know it's not easy, and I have a ton of respect for folks who are able to dig themselves out of those depths, and great sympathy for those who aren't.
  18. The band I'm playing with these days does a cover of this song, one of my all time faves. I can't quite muster Lee Ving's growl, but I do my best. After our last show a guy said "I can't believe you played 'I Don't Care About You'!" Didn't have to the heart to correct him, so I just said "I can't believe we did either!" Because we didn't.
  19. Always love picture frames, and yeah, the cover on that MSH 47 is awesome! From conception to execution, and the eye popping color, just a terrific cover.
  20. Oh, good! I'd hate to think that he could have whiffed that sale when it was all teed up for him! As for recent Marvels, I'm definitely not the guy to ask. Aside from Tom King's Vision, I haven't read a regular Marvel book in years.
