  1. Well, you could look at it that way, but I'd also take it as a warning: even if you get them graded, carded action figures are still time bombs that are probably going to deteriorate and fall apart over time, so don't pay too much for a graded example, because it could implode on you at any moment. Then again, I have been accused of pessimism in the past!
  2. I'm...I'm not sure I want to live in a $50 X-Force 1 raw world.
  3. Agreed, I was reading the Batman Knightfall omnibus recently and was taken aback by how bad his early stuff looked (a Liefeld clone, surprisingly), because nowadays he is one of the best and most unique in the business. He does beautiful stuff. You just never know how someone is going to turn out once they find their own way.
  4. Yeah, I've never unbagged one that didn't have the horizontal crease/roller mark/whatever it is down the middle of the cover. Like, ever.
  5. I think the pronounced cameltoe is the most interesting part!
  6. I also thought that they produced an actual poster-sized poster of this artwork, but I could be wrong? But as has been suggested, you can buy this book for a buck by the score, so I'd just find a nice one, carefully pop the staples, and pin it up!
  7. I'd say it's one of the less common Spoof covers. I don't see it nearly as often as I run into Spider-Femme, Batbabe and X-Babes.
  8. Awesome, so glad that some folks are getting some good deals out of the tip! Also cool to see what is showing up at other folks' shops. I picked up a ton of the Showcase trades, but haven't seen the Batgirl or Challs vol 1 that you picked up! Nice!
  9. Happens to me all of the time. If I'd wait just a liiiiiiittle bit longer...
  10. Eh, I'm not normally a fan of pedantry, but if this particular conversation had continued without RMA's participation, it just would have been wrong.
  11. RMA's most timely thread entrance ever, I'd wager. As the thread was winding on I kept thinking "Where is RMA? Where is RMA?" And at long last, satisfaction!
  12. I know, it's nuts! I remember when you could find them clogging aisles for under $20. Really kicking myself these days. Congrats on the scores!
  13. Oh man, this was the ONE Go-Bot that I bought. I remember seeing it on the shelf at Zayre's, and I fell in love. Never bought another one and it was always an oddball in my TFormers lineup, but I still love that car design. Very cool!
  14. I love these, I remember when they were on clearance at Target and TJ Maxx/Ross, and I bought a bunch of 'em. I sold them all off, wish I'd kept a couple, as they're drying up and prices are starting to spike (particularly on the Target exclusive stuff.)
  15. Thank you sir, kinda kicking myself but I'll keep my eyes open for another one!
  16. Oh man, yeah, it's such a cool piece, and this one appeared to be complete. I probably should have gone after it harder, as it'll probably be awhile before I see one as nice. Oh well. Good luck with the hunt!
  17. Hello all Just one book for now, Action Comics 242, 1st appearance of Brainiac and Bottle City of Kandor, 3.0 Universal slab. I bought this at auction, and could not confirm if it was pressed, but looking at it, I don't believe it was. I make no guarantees either way. Asking $1000 shipped in the US, double boxed insured priority. Paypal only, or will do cash pickup if you're local to Louisville KY Returns cheerfully accepted if the book is damaged in transit. No returns just because you changed your mind. Shipping in the US is included. I'll also ship outside of the US to boardies in good standing, at the actual cost of USPS priority international rate. Check out my kudos, and I'm also a top rated power seller with 100% positive feedback on eBay as Mrbobdobbs Pics aren't the best, I don't have a legal scanner, so if you need more pics, I'll do what I can to accommodate. in thread trumps any and all PM conversations. Thanks for looking!
  18. Picked up a couple of cool things at a local auction today. I'm not a Superman guy, so I'll be throwing that book up for sale momentarily. However, I'm in love with the Lil Abner Dogpatch Band Toy! It's in terrific working order, appears to be complete, and though there's no box, it does have the instructions! Not sure if many folks around here care about tin toys ( @Robot Man being the probable exception) but considering it is Comic related, I thought you all might enjoy seeing it. The auction featured a beautiful collection of tin and battery toys, and I went hard after a gorgeous example of the Marx Hootin Hollow Haunted House, but considering buyers premium and tax, I had to drop out eventually, and ended up the under bidder. Already kinda kicking myself for that one.
  19. If you have an Ollie's in your area, and you like D.C. Tpb's, run, don't walk! They've got an $11 million buyout of D.C. backstock, and the prices are nice. Most of the trades are $2.99 or $3.99 (with a smattering of $1.99), hardcovers for $3.99, and archives for $6.99. Can't beat that with a bat, especially those enormous Showcase trades for $3, that's a lot of great reading!
  20. Near Mint and Gem Mint did a great job, but I'm personally waiting on the reviews from Thin Mint and Franklin Mint before I make a decision.
  21. I'd happily listen to Napalm Death and Cannibal Corpse cranked to 11 if it successfully drowned out the nerd chatter of the employees.
  22. Shhh, keep it under your hat, I want to buy a few more.
