  1. I think you can squeeze a few bucks out of the hologram covers, but that's all that comes to mind. I'm sure there must be a Malibu fan out there who knows of some ultra rare stuff that is feverishly sought after by 5 people on earth, maybe they can shed some light. As hard as it is to believe sometimes, every publisher and title seems to have a couple of hardcore fans out there somewhere, and that's all it takes to start a bidding war. Broadway Comics, Defiant, Crossgen, they all have their supporters...somewhere.
  2. Wow wow wow. Amazing. Huge Peanuts fan. I usually consider it to be the best comic strip of all time, but lately I've been on a Pogo bender, so they're kinda neck and neck in my heart. But man alive, I'd love to own something like that. Awesome collection!
  3. Yup, unless there's something sweet hiding in there, I'd be at around $25 per long.
  4. Posted these over in CG, figured I'd throw them up here too. Fun night at the LCS tonight, with plenty of cheap AH goodness. Highlight was a set of Tomb Raider 16-50 for $35, nice high grade, including all of the AH covers except 33A (though the similarly pricey non-AH 33b was included) and 48. Nice set!
  5. Stopped by my LCS to pick up last weeks holds, ended up dropping much more money than planned! Some highlights below include a nice little chunk of mid-era Spawns (I'm still surprised by how well these sell) for less than cover price, and a nice bit of AH goodness, including a near complete set of Tomb Raiders for about $1 each, missing only 33A (though 33b was included, and it itself is about a $20-$30 book) and I think 48. Fun night!
  6. I'm assuming international at this cost, but could be wrong!
  7. So dumb. In my experience, for a single book, first class is cheaper than media anyway. Printing postage online, you can send up to 16 oz first class, so I can always get one, and sometimes two, books safely shipped in a flash mailed at the first class rate cheaper than media would have been.
  8. Cool! I love the JP toys. I've been tempted many times to start down that path, but I always pull back. Batman and Aliens get all of my $$$. This sure is nice though!
  9. For run fillers I like to pay right about $1 a book. So, uh...I'm waiting for a lot of books.
  10. Hey, at least you only have to watch it once a year. On occasions when my office mate has the day off, I have to go to the trainings, set up the projector, turn on the dvd, and watch it several times in a single day. It's a living, I guess.
  11. Agreed, not enough information to make a decision here. Depending on the value of the book, $249 could be a bargain once registered mail and insurance are factored in.
  12. However and whenever we all got into L&R, suffice to say Los Bros know how to write fully developed female characters...and they draw some gorgeous dames too.
  13. Love 'em both, but I've always been a Frogmouth guy myself.
  14. I would agree, I think there's a sort of Darwinism sewn into the boards themselves. The strongest will survive. Boardies are generally very adept at smelling a rat, and sales threads seem to boom or bust along those lines. Unless, you know, cool books.
  15. Yes, the same here as well! I distinctly remember Longshot being a huge deal back in the day. I've picked up three or four #1's out of dollar bins just in the past year. Plus it's Art Adams in his prime, it's hard not to love it.
  16. Sweet, one of my faves from that run!
  17. Yes on Gen 13 1. I buy every copy I can find for $1 or less. That's one of those books that I distinctly recall being a $50-$60 "wall book" way back when I was working at a LCS. Something about finding those for $1 now, I just can't pass them up. Or any JSC Gen 13's, for that matter, especially the miniseries. If they're NM-ish and $1, I buy 'em. It helps that I also really loved the title back then.
  18. YES! I buy every copy of these that I find in nice shape for a buck or less. I've got a pretty good stack of Ghost Rider 15's going. Last spring I had a chunk of GR 15's from a dealer's bargain boxes, and he kept asking me what was going on with the Ghost Rider 15's, like I was trying to pull one over on him, like it had blown up over night or something. I just had to level with the guy: I like cool glow in the dark skulls! To that end, I also dig The Spectre Glow in the Dark issues (1,8,13) and Green Lantern 50. I'm also the type of insufficiently_thoughtful_person who will buy X-Men 1 for 25 cents a pop whenever I see them, because, I dunno, I guess I need a longbox full of books from my youth that I could barely ever give away again if I needed to.
  19. It was Kitty Pryde for me, as well. She was cute and nice and smart, seemed like a normal girl next door type, as opposed to the other sex bomb superheroines. PS: Edit to add I'm primarily talking about Paul Smith X-Men and Alan Davis Excalibur when it comes to my crush era.
  20. Had a fun Halloween find this morning! For reasons that probably only make sense to me, I've been interested lately in getting back into LaserDiscs. I was an early adopter, but ended up selling my collection back when DVD (and later Blu Ray) managed to upgrade most of my titles. At any rate, I pick up occasional LD's in nice shape if they're dirt cheap, so while I was at my LCS thus morning, I picked up the Criterion Robin Hood for $2. And behind it was 20 Million Miles to Earth for $5. When I got it to the car, I realized that it was autographed by Ray Harryhausen! And, hidden inside the sleeve (and germane to this thread) was an autographed copy of First Men in the Moon! For five bucks, it's my best little find in a while! I'm inclined to believe that the signs are legit, as Ray came to town at least a couple of times for Wonderfest. Happy Halloween!
