  1. Nice! No one ever seems to bring up those Valor and She-Hulk books. I fish them out of dollar bins whenever I see 'em. Also love the LoSH.
  2. (To be fair, Shulkie seems to have some wonky anatomy issues going on in the original as well.) And of course, this one.
  3. Uh, you guys DO realize that it's an homage/reference to a fairly classic Byrne cover, right? I mean, I don't like this cover myself, but the complaints about the humor shoulda been lodged about 30 years ago.
  4. Oh, I like Dan's stuff plenty, but he's no Dan, you know? Dan was the original, and still the king. Dan is a fine artist in his own right, though. But I think we all know that Dan really had the goods when it came to the babes.
  5. Well, this is all just armchair psychology, but I think a lot of the early pumpers were expecting Walking Dead style hype for the series, and prices to follow. Adult-aimed AMC TV show with big talent based on a cutting edge comic, the stars seemed to align. But Walking Dead turned out to be an honest to God pop culture phenomenon, whereas Preacher's reception has been lukewarm to positive, at best. I don't know the ratings, but I'm confident they're not pulling in WD numbers. I think Preacher was a great comic, and I think it's a very fun show, but it was never going to be Walking Dead. So I think you see folks selling at a loss right now, rather than holding on for long term.
  6. Love the Death Rattle! Need to go ahead and get one for myself.
  7. Betty is a Dan DeCarlo. Veronica is a Dan Parent. I like Dan's stuff, but he's no DeCarlo. Betty all the way.
  8. Looks like you did it right! Thanks for the thread!
  9. I always liked this Vampi cover. Adam still had a lot of Dave Stevens in him at this point, before he drifted over into Drew Struzan mode.
  10. I've been buying them again for a couple of years, but haven't gotten around to reading them yet. They're sitting in a box...waiting. They look pretty nice, though!
  11. I was working at a comic shop when that was going on, and vividly remember that being a "wall book" and constant seller in the $60 range. So, in recent years, I'd pick them up whenever I found them in $1 bins, because I thought "Hey, this used to be a super hot book, has to be worth something?" Eventually I ran across so many of them, I just stopped buying them altogether, even at $1 or less. I had more than I could give away, much less sell. It's odd how markets can COMPLETELY collapse over time
  12. That's great! It looks like you have your own little General Store going.Very cool!
  13. "Books You Might Be Surprised to Learn that I Found in the Wild"?
  14. I think, like most things, the truth about this entire thing is likely somewhere near the middle. These books (and sauces, and whatever else) are likely much more popular, and currently more valuable, and the fanbase generally more rabid, than the naysayers realize. On the flipside, when there is money to be made, the sharks will circle, and there can be no doubt that there is shilling activity most likely happening in certain cases, especially with the pricier pieces. I like the show a lot, but I don't collect R&M stuff, nor do I have any to sell (nor have I HAD any to sell.) I have no skin in this game. You're all right. And you're all wrong. Now let it drop, ferchrissakes.
  15. That's a serious setup! Love the Hulks, wish I'd picked them all up back when I coulda flex paid 'em. Now I'll likely never have them. Great great great collection! And is the vacuum a Sideshow piece as well?
  16. Very cool! I love production pieces. I used to collect protos and test shots, but got out of them because it started getting too easy to get ripped off with fakes. But it's definitely a fun and different way to collect!
  17. I loved Preacher as it was being released, but haven't reread it since it originally concluded. So, I'm not sure if it holds up, but I have fond memories for sure. The Missus and I are enjoying the show as well. It's obviously not 100% (or even 75%) faithful to the original story, but it gets the flavor right. We get a kick out of it, for what it is.
  18. Great report! I haven't been in a few years, but DragonCon was always my favorite show for meeting artists and creators, because comics were just one small fraction of what that show was all about, so they were able to attract marquee names, but there was usually never any lines. Sure, J. Scott Campbell usually had a line, but otherwise, pretty much anyone I ever wanted to meet, I was able to just walk right up to them. Hughes, Mignola, Sale, Art Adams, Neal Adams, Linsner, Cooke, Noto, and so many others over the years. Such a good time. Hmm...Peter David is set to attend a show here in Louisville at the end of the month. Wonder if he'll still have any art for sale. Any ideas of the price range, or the titles/character range? I don't need any Sachs and Violens, but if he had some more Hulk or Spidey pages, I might be interested!
  19. Too funny, I was just thinking about this book the other day, as it was the very first Spider-Man book I ever bought off of the rack (at the convenient store down the street), and I was thinking I needed to get one for my comic rack at home. Hopefully I can still dig up a $1 copy somewhere!
  20. Very cool, love it! I've met most of my comic heroes, but still haven't met Walt.
  21. Nice, thanks! I've slowed way down on SST stuff, but I'm tempted to pick her up, along with Black Canary.
  22. If I could toot my own horn, I'd never leave the house! That's seriously cool! I can't stand BBT, but I'm all about Bedrock getting some love. Good on ya!
  23. I have no skin in this game, but remember that thanks to Rick and Morty, a bottle of McDonald's Szechuan sauce sold for 14k. The fans are...dedicated.
